  1. Ran this guy's name through the MD Case Search ... MD prosecutors failed again. A bunch of assault charges and one with gun but State either dropped it or he was found not guilty. Dont plea guilty, kick up to Circuit Court ... by now the officer might not show up and ASA dont give a ****. Md - the state where we let criminals walk bc we our county prosecutors and judges are too busy trying to clear their AM docket by 9:30 am. Continue that PM matter and boom! your golfing at 1:30 on a Tuesday! edit - ran his addy and it comes up as someone else, did a search of that name and its mom. A ****ing loser 53 year old Klan member living in Baltimore City .. lives with his mom. ****, Id be mad to.
  2. I never thought of it .. but yeah, you dont see nearly as many Union soldier monuments. 0 = number of Union monuments in Alabama 107 = number of Confederate monuments in Alabama 15 = Union monuments in Florida (12 monuments, 3 schools) 61 = Confederate public space monuments, this number does not include schools, private etc which in included in Union's number 8 = Union in Arkansas 57 = at least 57 Confederate, this only counts public spaces 1 = Union in Louisianna 91 = at least 91 public spaces 4 = Union in Maryland 6 = public and then some private Did you know the Maryland flag gives a nod to secessionist/confederacy? Flag of Maryland (1904). The state flag of Maryland features the red-and-white Crossland Banner, the unofficial state flag of Maryland used by secessionists and Confederates during the American Civil War.[465][466][467][468] The current state flag started appearing after the Civil War as a form of reconciliation. The flag became official in 1904. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If these monuments were about honor, virtue and sacrifice .... seems like the "Daughters of the Confederacy" are only interested in honoring their own racist southern kin .... but we here up North or people who live in the modern age are supposed to honor the Confederate racists? lol .... take the public monuments put up by the Daughters of Confederacy down and replace them with a joint union/confederacy monument. It wasnt about honor or respect when these went up in Baltimore in the 40s. Just like most of people now who fly the Confederate flag are doing it bc they are racists https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Union_Civil_War_monuments_and_memorials https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Confederate_monuments_and_memorials
  3. Did anyone collect comics when they were young? I looked up the value of some of my old comics. All those awesome gotta have "Image" comics are worth less now than they were 25 years ago. WTF Same as my hockey card collection. Guy Lafleur rookie card, etc worth the same now as it was 30 years ago.
  4. I just finished The Last Jedi. I assume this was the very last movie, chapter 9? It was good. Not really sure what happened in the 2 movies prior to this one, I watched them a while ago distracted so I really have no idea. But I liked this one the most. I watched Rogue One a few weeks ago and thought it was part of the 9 movie series. Apparently its not. Was very confused on who those people were. Didnt click until the very end that this was a side movie spin off leading up to the events of chapter4 - A New Hope with the iconic moment Darth Vader walks onto the Princess Lea's ship. Is this they end. The very last movie is Last Jedi? If so, Im fine with that. How did Darth Vader die?
  5. This is a Confederate monument that I pass almost everyday as I leave work going north on Georgia Avenue. Its about 1 mile prior to 495 exits. This thread reminded me of that so I just googled it and it has a pretty interesting history. This monument marks the grave of 17 Confederate soldiers who died in the battle of Fort Stevens in July of 1864. After the battle, the Union dead were interred formally at the Battleground National Cemetery. The Confederate dead were buried in shallow graves on several Silver Spring farms. In 1874, the pastor of Grace Episcopal Church, himself a Confederate veteran, was able to locate 17 bodies and had them moved to the church cemetery. The only body that could be identified was Pvt. James Bland of Highland County, Virginia. The graves were lined up in front of the church in a lot donated by Montgomery Blair, a parishioner who had been Lincoln's postmaster and Dread Scott's Attorney. The religious ceremony performed over the new graves displayed explicit Confederate partisanship. Susan Soderberg quotes the Evening Star's description of Dr. A.Y.P. Garnett's oration to show the flavor of the commemoration. The Church granted the Street Railway trolley company a right of way along Georgia Avenue in 1898 and, in preparation, moved the bodies in 1897 to a mass grave at the southwest corner of the cemetery. Georgia Avenue was later widened to cover the trolley right of way, so the original location of the graves is now the righthand northbound lane of Georgia Avenue (MD 97). The current monument was dedicated in a ceremony that Soderberg notes was much more conciliatory. The orator of the day was Judge Samuel Blackwell of Alabama, who spoke of "the almost total obliteration of sectional lines" and the unity of North and South in "standing for the perpetuation of the nation and the flag." According to the Sentinel (November 20, 1896) newspaper, a well-known Washington citizen, Paul Jones, son of a man who had died fighting for the Union, then rose and "claimed the privilege of recognizing the valor of the Confederate soldiers" by laying a bunch of white chrysanthemums at the foot of the monument. Although the current congregation are fairly liberal Episcopalians -- when I last visited here some years ago the pastor was an African American woman -- a person or persons unknown places flowers and sometimes flags on this grave quite regularly; a reminder, I hope, that even men who found themselves on the wrong side of history deserve some remembrance in death. http://allenbrowne.blogspot.com/2011/06/confederate-monument.html ------------------------------------------------------- So there it is. Everytime you drive in the far right lane of Georgia Ave at this spot, you are driving over dead confederate soldiers original graves. internet = knowledge
  6. It was an odd video. Seemed like the guy just tapped him with the object. But he drops hard and apparently got 4 stitches or so. Also didnt see "blood pouring on the street" ... it was odd. edit - video is in the link in my OP
  7. A registered Democrat and Bernie Sanders supporter protesting a right-wing rally in Oregon earlier this month says he was viciously beaten by militant members of his own movement because he possessed a "fascist symbol" -- an American flag. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2018/08/21/bernie-sanders-supporter-protesting-right-wing-rally-with-american-flag-beaten-up-by-antifa-video-shows.html I kinda feel like this guy. I love America, honor and respect the American flag but understand that the flag means something different to each one of us. I put a small US flag car decal on the back of our car and the wife wasnt too happy about it. She took it as a symbol of support for Trump. She knows I hate Trump. I told her this American flag doesnt stand for trump, it stands for me. This flag was here long before trump and it will be here long after him. He doesnt get to own the flag. Im not letting him confiscate the flag. Its my flag. My flag lets me say "trump sucks". Dont let trump take the flag from us. Anyway .. these extremist views from our extreme left is starting to worry me. Youre going to beat me up bc Im waving the American flag? You are going to scream in my face that Im the facist? Im starting to consider antifa as the the same as proud boys. Both have a warped sense of entitlement and superiority. Might makes right.
  8. No, Im in Columbia MD. My brother also gets annoyed when I say "up to Delaware" instead of east. (im guessing thats where youre going ... )
  9. Sports betting. I am not a big gambler at all but I do think I will put some money on some NFL games this season. I imagine I will be running up to Delaware a few Sundays putting down a few hundred. Make it more exciting, change of venue, get away from wife and kid etc. Will ES have a sports betting thread? Does it already have a sports betting thread? Id like to follow along some more veteran bettors among us.
  10. They both lowered their helmet. The defender wasnt leading with it like the runner was though. I thought the rule was for when a defender initiates contact/tackle leading with helmet. Here, the defender didnt really initiate contact as much as braced for impact. --------------------- Landry block. https://deadspin.com/the-bills-are-upset-over-another-hard-jarvis-landry-blo-1828460062 I personally dont like it. The defender is watching and pursuing the ball carrier. It doesnt make you a man to clean out a guy in that position. Others will say "head on swivel" but to me, in that situation, its cherry picking by Landry. Anyone who has played contact sports knows when you got a lined up and can kill him. If this was legal, I guess the only resort is for defenders to tee off on Landry. Let him run a go route and even though the ball is thrown to other side of the field, have a safety lay him out with a shoulder to chest hit. Crackback: "Prohibit crackback blocks by an offensive player in a backfield position and in motion, even if he is not more than two yards outside the tackle when the ball is snapped. A player in motion can legally block a defender if he blocks upfield and not back toward the position where the ball was snapped." https://operations.nfl.com/the-rules/2017-rules-changes-and-points-of-emphasis/ I guess Landry wasnt in the backfield or in motion. Unnecessary Contact/Defenseless Player: It is a foul if a player initiates unnecessary contact against a player who is in a defenseless posture. Players in a defenseless posture are: 9. A player who receives a “blindside” block when the path of the offensive blocker is toward or parallel to his own end line. 10. A player who is protected from an illegal crackback block (see Article 2) https://operations.nfl.com/the-rules/nfl-video-rulebook/defenseless-player/ Seemed like Landry's path was parallel to his end zone.
  11. This is a big problem. Police with a special task force ... of walking up to black people and demanding ID. I checked, there is no MD law that a pedestrian has to have ID. Notice how the guy makes sure to keep his hands by his side bc he knows if he raised his hands in an instinctive move to cover himself it will be viewed as resisting or fighting back. Thats hard to do. When getting punched people's reaction is to cover up. This POS cop is a ****. What really pisses me off .. this **** cop then just resigns getting full pension and privileges and can just go be a cop in the county or PA or anywhere he wants. They normally wait until right before their final hearing (years later) to resign the day before. This cop is a POS. I think more than half the Balt City cops are POS. Ive dealt with enough of them. Theyre mostly assholes living right over the PA line. Drive down in their super charged F150s, wear steelers gear on ravens-steelers weekends just to provoke. I jokingly called a cop out for wearing a steelers skull cap and they threatened to beat the **** out of me. Not sure if serious or dry pan humor. Either way it was an odd encounter that just left me scratching my head.
  12. You have to visualize your fist driving through the person's face with the back of their skull as your target. If you do this, you get weight and drive through your target. If you target the nose, you just slap the nose. https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/unite-the-right-jason-kessler-yelled-dad_us_5b7451b5e4b0182d49afa825 In a livestream originally posted by fellow white supremacist Patrick Little on June 28 but gaining attention now, Little and organizer Jason Kessler engage in racist banter before Kessler is interrupted by shouting. “Hey, you get out of my room!” a man can be heard bellowing in the background. Video of the interaction was uploaded to Twitter on Tuesday. Unite the Right 2 organizer, Nazi failure Jason Kessler gets yelled at by his dad for being a Nazi while livestreaming w Nazi loser Patrick Little, who admits he may have to sell the boat he’s broadcasting from at a loss because he needs money. pic.twitter.com/skmlmtdSAE — FlyingOverTr0ut (@FlyingOverTr0ut) August 14, 2018 “Hey, sorry, I’m having an issue here,” Kessler tells Little. Little asks if Kessler has a “drunk roommate.” After trying to avoid a full answer, Kessler, 34, finally admits that it’s his dad yelling at him. “I want this to stop in my room, Jason!” his father can be heard shouting. “This is my room!” Kessler walks off camera, only to reappear a short time later railing against his family for watching “anti-German propaganda” on the History Channel. -------------------------------------------------- So funny. Its like 43 year old red necks complaining about people taking from gov't and not working when they are unemployed, smoking cigarettes and claiming early disability. edit -- sorry didnt see the Kesler stuff was already posted. I quoted from last page .. dang it.
  13. Honestly ..... really good time to get some graffiti up in the city in open spots you would never dream of. Everyone is so worried about other crap. Like snow storms in the 90s, DC streets would be eerily deserted and everything was fair game. To be young and dumb again ...
  14. I think Bigfoot is fuzzy, thats the problem. Its not the photographers fault. - Mitch Hedberg
  15. Arent we already thin with 2 scholarships unfilled? Not good. Hope Bender can play a full year. May be a blessing he didnt go play overseas ball.
  16. Wont end without blood? Arm up? "there is evil and it has come to us, and a great many have surrendered to its siren song, lost in their fears and anger and accusations." -------------------------------- The language and rhetoric on here sounds identical to the language and rhetoric on Fox News from 2008 to 2016. And no one took their guns or forced them to follow Sharia law. Just like in 2 years, when trump is gone, we will still be going to work, paying bills, eating at at the always lovely IHOP and watching football on the weekends. I hate trump but cant point to a single thing that he has done that actually affected my life. Like with Obama, a neo con would probably be hard pressed to identify an Obama policy that negatively impacted their life. Trump absolutely sucks. But I am amazed how each side is literally using the exact words and accusations against the other ... without a hint of irony. Oh .. but its different ... bc we are right and they are wrong. Okay. Thats exactly what they think as well. if you are not willing to take a step back and consider things outside your current considerations ..... why the **** should some republican do the same? How are any of us any better than any of them if we are so entrenched in our position and thinking? Ironic. Cant see the forest for the trees type thing.
  17. Finished Breaking Bad last week. Really good. Obviously. Handmaids Tale is next. Ive seen the first few episodes. Its just so dark, I feel emotionally drained and off center afterwards. Ozark - looking forward to season 2. Lots of Always Sunny, Southpark, Rick and Morty lately.
  18. The owner of the convenience store in Clearwater told ABC affiliate WFTS that Drejka had assaulted customers in the store’s parking lot before. And Rich Kelly, who frequents the store, claimed Drejka picked a fight with him over a parking spot about a month ago, calling him racial slurs and threatening to kill him, WFTS reported. “He wanted somebody to be angry at. He just wanted someone to fight him,” Jacobs said in an interview with "Good Morning America" on Monday. “He was picking a fight. I’m just sitting, waiting for my family to come back to the car.” “By this time a witness pulls up and everybody hears us going back and forth with one another. ... A witness goes in the store and he let the owner know that there was somebody out there messing with a woman in a car,” she said. “My man hears what’s going on, sees the guy yelling at me and I’m sitting in the car. My man is defending me and his children, so he pushes him down. https://www.yahoo.com/gma/victims-girlfriend-says-florida-gunman-provoked-fatal-stand-095904222--abc-news-topstories.html ------------------------------------------------ It seems like this guy was waiting for the moment to use his gun. The point I am making is .... a person shouldnt be confronting people over parking spaces and then be able to shot and kill someone because a "confrontation" ensues. It seems like baiting and fishing, just looking for an argument. Much like your obtuse post. My post was clear - I am talking about the initial aggressor ... who was the stranger who decided to create a situation with a mom waiting in a car. She didnt start with him, he started with her. He went to her car. He originated and escalated the situation. But you know this and you know what my point was. No need for back and forth Tshile, Im not going to waste time arguing semantics and opinions with you. You are just looking for a disagreement much like this a hole was.
  19. I dont like the situation where the initial aggressor uses the "stand your ground" defense. You start an argument with a stranger, argument escalates and you shoot someone bc it escalated. Anyone of us could have been shot by this guy. I wouldnt have pushed him right away but I could easily envision where I walk out to my car and see some guy arguing with my wife and we both start arguing in each others faces and this guy "feels threatened" and shoots me. Can I walk around and start verbal arguments with people then shoot them when they confront me? I understood "stand your ground" as applied to the castle doctrine. I understand "stand your ground" when tries to strong arm or rob you or just looking for a fight. I dont understand the emboldened vigilante warrior.
  20. The court heard how the sickening abuse first came to light in 1989 when a girl came forward and told cops what Antony had done to her. But the case was never brought to trial and in May 2015, three more children – all aged under 14 – said they had been abused by Antony and others. Police were once again called but it was decided there was insufficient evidence to bring charges. However, the case was reopened in January 2016 when a fifth victim came forward. The full extent of the abuse began to unravel and a further three victims were identified – meaning the vile family could be brought to trial. https://nypost.com/2018/07/18/family-of-pedophiles-raped-kids-for-30-years-before-being-caught/ ----------------------------------------------------------- So it took police and DA ...... almost 30 years to do something. How many children were raped during those 30 years because police and DA and this Country treat child rape like DUIs. Child sex laws must get a whole lot tougher in this Country. Its a ****ing joke. I understand it may be hard to prosecute these bc it may come down to a 8 year olds word vs the sick pedophile rapist .... but dont plea that **** down to 3rd degree contact or some bull**** so the asshole gets a few weekends and a suspended sentence. Try the ****ing case, grow some balls DA or SA and actually try a case instead of pleaing it down so you dont miss happy hour at bonefish. Child rape shouldnt get the same treatment as a DUI multiple offender. Ivanka .. you want to do something. Do something. ----------------------------------------------------- Look at this ****. I googled "maryland child rape plea" and an article on how a pastor and 2 other guys raped teens in an at risk program. Multiple women came forward w consistent stories. https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/public-safety/3-md-church-leaders-charged-with-sexually-abusing-teens-in-at-risk-youth-program/2018/05/23/8aab8f2c-5ea7-11e8-9ee3-49d6d4814c4c_story.html?utm_term=.98c71f67cab3 Charged in may 2018. Not a single article since they were charged. So I ran a Md Case Search ... guess what the **** PG ASA Alsobrooks signed off on .... they dropped the child rape charges and what is left is 2nd degree assault and 4th degree contact and petty crap. Sounds like a suspended sentence for multiple victims raped over years. http://casesearch.courts.state.md.us/casesearch/inquiryDetail.jis?caseId=6E00635627&loc=20&detailLoc=DSCR This is right in our back yard. Slaps on the wrist. Alsobrooks needs to be asked about this when the case is done. ASA are *******. To scared to trya case. All they do is plea so they can be out by 3. ---- I guarantee that if I searched for random child rape cases, 8 out of 10 have been pled down.
  21. The 1 on 1 meeting, with only interpreters, is going long. Trump is going to recognize Crimea as Russia. In exchange for some future draft pick to be determined.
  22. better pay? Is that possible? 1,012 Baltimore City Police employees made more than 100k gross pay in 2016. Im an attorney and I make a shade under 100k. https://data.baltimorecity.gov/City-Government/Police-Salaries-FY2016/evsk-6ys8/data ^ filter by gross pay. This doesnt even include the pension and benefits police officers get. imo Police Officers are very very well paid. Some of them are just jerks and some civilians are just jerks.
  23. Police typically learn about crime in one of two ways: either someone calls for help, or an officer sees a crime himself and stops to do something. The second category, known among police as an “on-view,” offers a sense of how aggressively officers are doing their job. Car stops are a good example: Few people call 911 to report someone speeding – instead, officers see it and choose to pull someone over. Or choose not to. Millions of police records show officers in Baltimore respond to calls as quickly as ever. But they now begin far fewer encounters themselves. From 2014 to 2017, dispatch records show the number of suspected narcotics offenses police reported themselves dropped 30 percent; the number of people they reported seeing with outstanding warrants dropped by half. The number of field interviews – instances in which the police approach someone for questioning – dropped 70 percent. “Immediately upon the riot, policing changed in Baltimore, and it changed very dramatically,” says Donald Norris, an emeritus professor at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, who reviewed USA TODAY's analysis. “The outcome of that change in policing has been a lot more crime in Baltimore, especially murders, and people are getting away with those murders.” Police officials acknowledge the change. "In all candor, officers are not as aggressive as they once were, pre-2015. It’s just that fact," says acting Police Commissioner Gary Tuggle, who took command of Baltimore's police force in May. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2018/07/12/baltimore-police-not-noticing-crime-after-freddie-gray-wave-killings-followed/744741002/ After the riots, this was very evident for anyone living in the city. A few months after the riots, some kids threw rocks at my wife and daughter. I chased them to the edge of Perkins Homes. We lived around the corner. Just by chance there was an officer on the corner. I ran up to him and told him what happened a few minutes ago and gave him a description of the kids. He just looked at me. He didnt say a word. I said "you arent going to do anything are you?". He just stared at me, not saying a word. He did have a "im sorry" look to him but he just stared at me. Thats the moment I moved my family out. The cops stopped policing the nuisance stuff. Kids walking in front of cars on the street, throwing rocks at people and stores. It was like the city just gave free reign to teenagers and pre teens. I get it. i understand. what is that cop going to do? Chase some kids in Perkins Homes, put his hands on one of them to detain them then end up on a viral video? But what am i going to do? stay in that situation? -------------------------------------------------- http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/opinion/editorial/bs-ed-0326-baltimore-population-20180323-story.html Out of 30 of US major cities, only Baltimore and Detroit have lost population. While Balt County has seen an increase. I would guess the people leaving the City are like me and my family, people of some financial means who have money to move out.
  24. Truth claim? I guess I didnt explain myself clearly enough. I claim no truth. IM not trying to reach group consensus or prove my definition is right. My definitions and thoughts are only right for me. I dont expect anyone to agree with me. i dont care if they do. How I feel or think is not universal, it is only how I personally think and feel. I went out of my way to explain that my definition is only my definition, and I dont think anyone else's is wrong and i dont expect anyone else to accept my definition. I dont push my definitions or thoughts on others. You want to tell me how I think? Okay. Youre free to do so. Me personally .... yeah, i probably wouldnt look to the "Oxford English Dictionary" as my first source in gathering info on defining racism or what is a racist. Thats just me though. You do you. I think we all think for ourselves and no one can say what another person thinks.
  25. I consider that prejudice or stereotyping. Thats just me and my world. We all live on our own island. Mayor of our own town with a population of 1.
