There is a large moderate view point on immigration that could sway the moderate independent/repub/dem ... if only a party could run on a moderate immigration platform and not have to walk the extreme right or extreme left party line.

Then why arent we saying it? Why are we letting Trump control the narrative. I think Dems are split on immigration. Some of us like me just want the current laws enforced (end of "promise to show up to hearing and released in the US w no follow up once they skip hearing), better vetting, dreamers stay, chain immigration stays etc vs others who want open borders, abolish ICE, sanctuary cities. Its like the Dem leaders are scared bc what ever they say will probably turn off half their base. If Pelosi or Schumer said the caravan should be allowed to cross the border = half the dems would lose their collective ****. If Pelosi of Schumer said only people qualified under amnesty should be allowed in = half the dems would lose their collective ****. If only the Dems had someone who could actually deliver a message in such a was as to untie the Dems ... our leaders suck.

You dont qualify for asylum, you just want an open border ... Dems need to speak out against this. let them come, let them wait and wait at the border while we process the "asylum" request on a case by case basis. I believe the last caravan did have a small percent qualify under asylum.

I think public policy would support some tax benefits or some kind of incentive to carry life insurance. Anything that insures against a potential burden on society/govt should be promoted like IRAs, home ownership etc ...

So am I. I was at a small conference thing this Saturday and I overheard an older well-to-do lady, clearing saying it loud enough so others would hear, that she thought it was "despicable" what the Democrats had done to Kavanaugh. Her husband, to his credit, didnt respond probably knowing time and place. Chinese restaurant last week in Columbia, MD, overheard a redneck looking guy say loud enough for all to hear that "they" were trying to take over our country and how the fog in China isnt fog but smog and they want to do the same thing here. I drove to Hershey Park the other weekend and saw more trump bumper stickers in one day up there then I have all year down here ... but I expect that when I leave the DMV bubble. I know non-metro America is not as diverse or educated as we are .. but it still takes a mental adjustment. There is a big portion of America that is not like us (DMV). Not bad people, just different. With different interests and view points. I need to remind myself of that. My thoughts and views dont parlay to everyone.
