I feel real bad for Ceko, never really got into rhythm bc of injuries then fouls. I thought he would take over and be the starter by this time of the season. Dodd has played 12-14 mins the past few games bc he picks up 4 fouls so quick. I guess we hope Dodd doesnt get into foul trouble then it becomes the Bender show. We went small one game this year when Dodd and Ceko were out and played really well (was it the first minny game?) but I dont think that is the long term answer. Benning - Kosher Ham is just trolling. The comment of Wilcox being a better player was obvious. Mentioning Steve Francis who was awesome but played 1 year etc .... im surprised Nik Caner Medley hasnt been mentioned yet. Id put Melo at Blake's level. I think Melo does more and has to do more than Blake. I think figuring out where Melo goes on the Terps all time list should be had when he hangs it up. On to terps v nw.

The problem is that we go through stretches where no one is moving, no one is making a basket and we seem to dribble the clock down and force a 3. If Cowan can build off the OSU game and start to play well again for 40 mins, all this is moot and Melo can go back to coming off the ball like he was doing at the beginning of the season. That is the best case scenario for this team. But Cowan has been very inconsistent lately. If Cowan continues to struggle running the offense, watch the movement when Melo is not in there. If Cowan is struggling this offense stalls and guys stand around then we are forced to play the high pick n roll w Melo. I think you are greatly under estimating what Melo does for this team. Yes, he misses 3s and yes he dribbles into traffic and traps and turns the ball over ... but he does a lot of things to keep this team winning. We are probably at 15 wins right now without him.

Top 40?? Most over rated player in college basketball? .... but Im the one "stretching things"? When he is done school, he will be top 10. He is top 15 if he didnt play another min right now. I honestly dont feel like defending terps players against other supposed terps fans right now.

I agree that Melo is not a great shooter and doesnt have superior hops ... but he is not the most overrated player in college and we will not be better without him next year. Thats a dramatic over statement imo. Its frustrating to watch Melo drive to the basket looking for calls but this offense has stagnant stretches. On Sat the team played well when Melo was out but watch the ball movement when he is not in there. He almost single handily won us the Purdue game bc no one else was doing anything. Melo is not an NBA player and not the same Melo from his freshman season but he is a top 5 all time player for this school and should be embraced. This team is 15-9 or so without Melo. His game has obvious flaws but he puts it on the line for us every game and he brought this program back up. 4 years ago, people wanted Turgeon fired and seth allen/faust transferred out after a few years of stooglin ball and things look like they were getting dark. The Melo bashing is absolute nonsense imo. Everyone can see Melo has holes in his game, he is not a perfect player, he is not an NBA player ... bur he is one of the best players to put on a Terps uni, ever. Respect that dont hate it.

Tape/scouts say it appears he took plays and games off, just didnt look motivated at times. Now Garrett says he wont go to the NFL draft. I get it, you want to be with family .... but it adds to the sense that this kid really isnt 100% motivated for football. I am wondering that as well. I dont know if its Turg or the team but they seem to stand and watch melo in close games late. Melo has pulled it off the last couple games but I really want to know what is the cause of it .. bc it has happened before and will happen in the future. Ive heard Turg interviews were he flat out says in crunch time its melo time but i dont think that means the other 4 players stand around and watch. Jackson - I want to see some designed feed the post plays for him and have him run the high ball screen with melo more. It seems like we dont run any specific plays for him. This team plays very little inside-out game and its weird bc feeding the post then kicking the ball out is basic offense. fPSU scares me.

I heard Richardson may have some eligibility issues (test scores and classes) so he cant actually sign yet. Also he may play LB. That is a huge need. Also the Gaddy boys have some eligibility issues but should be cleared by spring. Castro-Fields is a heavy heavy lean to fPSU.

Terps v Ohio State tonight at 7 pm in Ohio. OSU favored by 1.5 ..... we keep beating Vegas and getting little credit for winning games on the road and being called overrated ... eventually we will lose a road game and im sure be bounced from the top 25 and everyone will think that 1 loss vindicates their overrated stance. Just keep winning. Every B10 team thinks we are overrated and we will lose to them at their house - Iowa, Minny (their fans thought they would win by double digits).

Hope we keep him. is this a quiet period so Miami cant fly up like they did with Ashley, right?? Benning - they arent that good. No one thinks they are title contenders but its a fun group to watch grow. Fun to watch them trap guys in the high block, watch cowan uses his quickness to get around screens and mess up the other teams offensive set, watch Melo drain some clutch 3s ... Heurter use his length to shut down some senior scorers. With the perspective of having limited expectations pre season of being a bubble team, they are a lot of fun to watch. At times, its really really good team ball.

Ive been drinking a lot of Wicked Weed's pernicious and napolean complex and Alpine's windows up lately. WW's pernicious and napolean complex are hard to come by but they taste so good. I feel like a jerk bc i cleared a store's shelf of them but alas, my stockpile is gone. alpine's windows up is a good piney/resiny ipa. i wish more ipas included a piney hint to it. Hopslam and Avery's Maharaja annual release both hit the area at the same time which sucks bc they are both heavy hitting iipas. Looking forward to drinking them but which the releases to this area were a few weeks apart. Drinking anymore than 5 or so of these guys guarantees a hangover the next morning.
