  1. Given how close Jerruh is to Snyder, I actually doubt that. If the NFL owners were a high school lunch room, I doubt either one of them was sitting at the cool kids’ table. Jerruh’s got his own history of sexual misconduct within the Cowboys organization too— just not as egregious as what happened in DC.
  2. I was in college at the University of Illinois for the season the Bears played there. It was... interesting. Pros: - Being bored on a Sunday morning and grabbing a $20 ticket from a scalper 5 minutes after kickoff Cons: - Random 50-year-old men roaming campus drunk. Although I'm at an age that this could actually be me now, so maybe I should revisit. - The Bears didn't play us that year - Campus life sucked on Bears' home weekends
  3. They used to only have that rule of alternating AFC/NFC opponents because it satisfied the TV contracts of CBS/Fox (i.e. they each got a game, and they got Dallas/Detroit in alternating years). The NFL has been loosening the AFC/NFC split of the contracts for a while now-- I think a 49ers-Cowboys game was on CBS in the past few years, and the announcer even made a joke about sticking around for "Murder She Wrote," after the game. That AFC/NFC split is completely gone this season-- any game can be on any network, so the NFL is no longer beholden to forcing certain matchups on Thanksgiving.
  4. +1 on this; supposedly they were targeting a May 11 announcement, but the Aaron Rodgers and Lamar Jackson threw everything into chaos. Now they're reworking everything to get the Jets and Ravens into more primetime games.
  5. No matter how/when the suite revenue is booked, the problem is that even if Dan never sees the money, it indirectly props up the value of the franchise-- imagine buying a team that's projected for have $Y revenue next year versus a number less than $Y. The seller will never see that revenue but it'll encourage buyers to place more competitive bids.
  6. Dude was driving down Clopper Road near Gaihersburg when he came up with that song. Granted- Gaithersburg and and the area around Clopper Road looked very different in 1970. Real story behind ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’; debut 50 years ago in DC club - WTOP News
  7. I took a marketing course on research methods way back once and we learned that a significant number of people really just like to complete surveys but they don't really even pay attention to the questions. If there was a prize for completing the survey we'd all understand why this was the case, but as it turns out, this is true even if there is no incentive to take/finish the survey. In the marketing world, you combat this by throwing in some control questions that you can use later to filter out nonsense (e.g.: ask the same question twice but reword and reorder the answers to see if people are really paying attention), but in the polling world, it's not as easy to throw out nonsensical responses because you're then applying your own biases to the results. I could totally believe there are 20% of the population that didn't really understand the question, didn't pay attention to the words they were reading, or just didn't care.
  8. During the short time I lived in Michigan (~15 years ago) I befriended a guy who worked for the Michigan GOP. He seemed like a normal decent dude from everything I knew about him. I often wonder about him when I read articles about the current Republican party in Michigan. According to LinkedIn he still works for the party.
  9. On the Chicago radio shows this morning, this was bigger news than the results of any of the three games this weekend. No Orioles jerseys in this video thankfully.
  10. This is right up there with that fact about Gwen Stefani being older than Ted Cruz. It turns out that being a terrible human being speeds up the aging process.
  11. Yeah, he was definitely on his receiver. My point was that I was the only one streaming but could only do one stream, and everything about it was generally awful (the constant logins, the app UI, etc.). I'm not an advocate of the 2 stream limit, but its actually better than what DirecTV used to offer for its streaming members.
  12. Oof, I'm on the flip side of that issue. I used to borrow my BIL's streaming account and it was horrendous-- constantly having to log back in and no ability to stream multiple games on multiple devices. Not to mention that the app was just generally terrible. I'm actually looking forward to YouTubeTV taking it over.
  13. Q for those of us that are/were boycotting Snyder? Can we start buying merch and subscribing to Sunday Ticket, or do we wait until the owners approve the deal?
  14. I remember reading an article a few years ago about the fact that a sizable number of conservatives had no idea Stephen Colbert’s show was parody. EDIT: For those interested: Colbert Study: Conservatives Don't Know He's Joking | HuffPost Latest News
  15. Kurt Gouveia became one of my favorite "overlooked" Redskins during the Super Bowl run in 1992. He had 3 interceptions in their 3 playoff games. He was definitely a huge part of that team, but not someone you think of when you think of franchise greats. Years later, 7/11 had a giveaway where they attached a small circular collectible of a Redskins' player attached to the bottom of their Slurpee cups (basically imagine a small round baseball card- this was a really low-end promotion). I didn't buy the Slurpee because of the promotion but I did pull off the collectible and it was Kurt Gouveia-- specifically that picture of him celebrating his interception in Super Bowl XXVI. I kept the collectible for a few years but threw it out at some point. Darrell Green and Kurt Gouveia are still my 2 favorite Redskins players ever.
  16. Yeah the whole 'owned' thing in the political debates is nonsensical. I've literally seen conservatives share the exact same clips of MTG/Boebert getting owned with the opposite take: "She asked a simple question and instead of answering the question, he/she dove into a bunch of science-y BS that nobody understands." From our perspective, these people are answering dumb questions with basic science. From their perspective they totally nailed that scientist because he/she couldn't just say yes/no to, "can you authoritatively says with 100% certainty that drag queen book readings don't cause climate change?"
  17. Yeah it literally saved us no time because we all waited at Silver Spring. And we ditched/pissed off a friend. I think the other guys thought it would be funny to ditch him-- I have no idea.
  18. OMG you just triggered a memory for me. We were coming home from the HFStival after high school and the four of us ran from the orange line to the red line at Metro center because it was a 20 minute wait for the next red. One guy in our group fell way behind so the three of us got on the train and I stood in the door trying to stall for our fourth guy to get to us. Anyways ,the metro guy starts yelling at me on the intercom (our friend was way behind), so I get in the train and it leaves, just as he's coming down the stairs. We waited at the Silver Spring Metro for him but he didn't say a word to us on the way home. Oddly he was most pissed at me because he actually saw me on the train as it went by (even though I was the one person who actually tried to hold the train for him, and another guy in our group was his best friend since kindergarten). Anyways the point of my story is that high school kids are jerks.
