  1. Yeah it literally saved us no time because we all waited at Silver Spring. And we ditched/pissed off a friend. I think the other guys thought it would be funny to ditch him-- I have no idea.
  2. OMG you just triggered a memory for me. We were coming home from the HFStival after high school and the four of us ran from the orange line to the red line at Metro center because it was a 20 minute wait for the next red. One guy in our group fell way behind so the three of us got on the train and I stood in the door trying to stall for our fourth guy to get to us. Anyways ,the metro guy starts yelling at me on the intercom (our friend was way behind), so I get in the train and it leaves, just as he's coming down the stairs. We waited at the Silver Spring Metro for him but he didn't say a word to us on the way home. Oddly he was most pissed at me because he actually saw me on the train as it went by (even though I was the one person who actually tried to hold the train for him, and another guy in our group was his best friend since kindergarten). Anyways the point of my story is that high school kids are jerks.
  3. All we need is news on the Commanders sale and I’m popping the champagne 🍾 🥂 Ridding ourselves of 2 sociopaths tormenting DC in one day would be pretty impressive.
  4. LOL this is how we know we have an obesity problem. 30 years ago we wondered whether we could bring back dinosaurs with a single cell of DNA and that was the plot of Jurassic Park. Today if we find a single cell of dinosaur DNA, the first question is, "Man what do you think that tasted like?"
  5. Could he *BE* going to prison any longer?!? OK I'm going to hell for that joke.
  6. I went to HS with a guy whose last name was Hyman-- his friends were way nicer than I'd ever be, and they nicknamed him Buster. His sister's name was Maia...
  7. Anita Dick sporadically attended my middle school every time we had a substitute teacher-- I'm glad to hear she's still around and getting involved in civic matters.
  8. When I was in grad school, we did a class on major PR disasters and how to handle them. One of the case studies we did was the Southern Baptist boycott of Disney because Disney hosted LGBT-themed days in their parks as early as the early-90s. One of the big things we learned in the class is that when a big issue comes up, most people want to somehow take the middle and avoid the issue. This just angers both sides and makes you look spineless. What Disney did was actually pretty bold-- taking a side (being pro-LGBT) and leaning into it 100%.They didn't try to appease the southern baptists and soften their stance. This was 10 years before marriage equality was even a major political issue, and now Disney (rightfully) gets to take credit for being way ahead of this. I know that ultimately Disney is just a major corporation looking out for their bottom line, and they've been involved in some less-than-ethical behavior in other places, but kudos to them on this one.
  9. Following up on @Califan007 The Constipated, this Deadspin article seems to indicate this is a problem with Boys' teams as well-- they are forced to play in tournaments with boys 2 grades older just to have access to their practice space (Girls' rec team denied championship after winning boys league (deadspin.com) That said, how ridiculous is it that they dreamed up this policy. If you force a group of kids- boys or girls- to play a tournament with "much better teams" and they win it, then they won the tournament, pure and simple. What's sad is that if the girls had lost the tournament and gotten a 'best girls team' trophy or a participation trophy, people would be losing their minds.
  10. "Susan Collins is deeply unpopular with her constituents and might lose re-election," is the political equivalent of, "The Commanders' front office finally got it right this off-seeason; these guys could be contenders this year!"
  11. I was a big Lightfoot supporter 4 years ago but she proved herself to be highly ineffective and inflexible (to the point of arrogance) when her methods weren’t working. I voted for Buckner in the primary but I’ll probably go with Johnson in the runoff.
  12. The sad thing with the Sarah Huckabee “govenor” picture is that were that a pic of “Pressident Joe Biden,” the election conspiracy theorists would lose their minds.
  13. It's true. The only way to own the libs at this point is to do as we suggest and eventually you'll have better public schools, lower infant mortality, higher literacy rates, higher life expectancy, and a better human rights record than those libs. Then you can totally laugh in our faces about how dumb we are for believing in all that stuff.
  14. When the Kim Davis story was happening in Kentucky (county clerk who refused to hand out gay marriage licenses because it was against her religion), I legitimately wondered whether I (raised Hindu), could get a job at a steakhouse and then refuse to work as eating beef was against my religion and I couldn't be an accomplice to others' sinning.
  15. As an Everton fan, I can only dream. I can't wait to renew the Merseyside Derby in the English Championship. Given some of the ownership groups in the Premier League, this would barely be a blip on their radar. The challenge for Snyder would be that you can't just be incompetent and pocket the TV money-- you have to have a certain level of mediocrity just to stay in the league.
  16. Is that where you run away from town because gay people want to have sex with you, then hide in a cave, get drunk and have sex with both of your daughters, getting them pregnant, only hours after watching your wife get turned into a pillar of salt?
