  1. They offered 2 #1's for Ocho Cinco right before his inevitable decline and the Bengals turned it down. Still trying to figure who to laugh harder at for this, probably the Bengals.
  2. How ironic seeing how obsessed he was about buying star power for much of his time here.
  3. This is a great post and exactly why I want to take Chase. Sure they players they get with a trade back MAY be great but the odds are much higher if you take the player with the best chance of that. As we keep discussing top teams don't have good players they all have several great players and we never have that player. James is a real sore spot for me, given the safeties they have been trottiing out for a decade I wanted that guy. With that said I would have been OK with Vita Vea or Deron Payne.
  4. I was penciling Chase and Sweat as the DEs as that's the common opinion, so I lumped Payne, Allen and Ioannidas as the DTs. I stand by my assessment, I don't see how you can say Jonathan Allen provided any more "energy" than the other 2, on the field or in the locker room. I don't hate Allen, loved the pick and still like him. But again I'll never stop believing if he played like this as a 4th rounder out of Colgate the opinion would be much different around here. I also believe with good coaching now we will see a different Jonathan Allen.
  5. I don't see a whole lot of people agreeing with you. Matt I is their best DT and Payne is probably 2nd. I still like Allen and would not trade him for a middle-late 1st round pick. Coaching has certainly been a big factor but I still maintain some fans are overrating Jonathan Allen based on his reputation. If he was a 4th rounder from Colgate I don't think many would have your opinion based on his play on the field. But he certainly has the potential to break out but it sure hasn't happened so far.
  6. Where are you reading such nonsense? The trade back crew I have seen have all acknowledged how good Chase can be, they just want to fill more needs. Now I just learned he may grow to 6'8". Maybe now we can have defensive lineman who actually bats down passes. We never seem to do that, we haven't blocked a kick or field goal since Sean Taylor or so it seems.
  7. The Bears and Jags are actually perfect examples of having great defenses with bad QB limits you immensely. Where are they now? They both had one really good season that was cut short because their QB couldn't get it done and then immediately became irrelevant. Meanwhile teams with top QBs contend for over a decade
  8. As we wore NORML tee shirts and attended the annual Smoke In on the Mall in the late 70's I never would have expected the level of acceptance weed has gotten to today. I have a card and it helps me with a nerve condition but I was a user all along. I too never dream and that always struck me as strange. But I'm not THAT into it where I need to discuss the strains as my neighbor constantly tries to do. I understand there is a difference between Indigo and Sativa but i've never felt it myself. Some strains seem to get me higher than others despite the THC levels but when I go to the store I just buy what's on sale
  9. Prezactly. Not to say you can't get a great player by trading back a few spots, but Chase clearly has the best chance to be great and when you have the 2nd pick in the draft you don't screw around you take the guy who has the best chance to be great.
  10. Oh I agree, it always takes a team. But make no mistake, that Seattle team had a number of great players. So did every team that plays in Super Bowls from what I've seen. Again it will take more than Chase, obviously, but when you get a chance to get one of these guys you have to take it. They seem pretty set, there is very little evidence that Kyle sees other players that are comparable. But you are right, if Haskins fails it won't mean anything. How many games did Miles Garrett, Von MIller and Khalil Mack win last year with poor QB play? But let's not forget the impact a player like Miller had on that last Denver Super Bowl win had, it was immense.
  11. Yes but every top team has great, not good, not very good, no they have some great players. Great players determine games, when you get the chance to draft one at a position with as much impact as edge rusher you just have to take advantage of that rare opportunity. As for the free agents signed only a few can be called "average starters". The rest are back of the roster players and camp fodder.
  12. Yeah they could very well be in the market for a QB this time next year.
  13. I agree that keeping liquor stores open was the smart move, without that you would indeed have people breaking down doors. I wasn't sure so I stocked up several weeks ago. Of course I find myself drinking more so there's that.
  14. I have been driving around with a mask, gloves, plastic sheeting and duct tape in my trunk. I'm glad to see this is now acceptable
  15. Everyone's grandma had that bowl of ribbon candy that had been sitting there for 4 years.
  16. PB&J > Raisin Bread It has protein, is more filling, will last you longer and it has history. Kids grew up on PB&J, they appeared in lunch boxes all over America. Raisin bread is something they fed you when you visited Grandma, then she offered you a bowl with ribbon candy that had all fused together in one mass the size of a volleyball.
  17. But can you live on it for 14 days? I finally ventured into the grocery store and bought PB&J and bread. We can live on PB&J sandwiches for weeks if we have to.
  18. This is so easy yet I got away from making even easy dishes lately. I either grill or get carryout most nights. Thanks for the reminder, gotta make this again soon.
  19. I swore he was offsides so I went back and stopped it at the instant of the snap. Yeah that took a few tries but finally I was able to see, he was right on the snap It's as if he's stealing signs or somethin'
  20. I am not really going to continue to defend my position that a head coach would never be upset that his team actually won. I shouldn't have to. Electing to switch to a 3-4 has nothing what so ever to do with the claim that he was mad that his team actually won. But then again around here we could argue for a day about the sky being blue.
  21. If you honestly believe a coach as competitive as Mike Shannahan was upset that his team went on a 7 game winning streak that landed a playoff spot I have no idea what more to say to you. Enjoy the game today. Back to Chase that article @Skinsinparadise posted is the very reason I want them to draft Chase Young.
  22. So your position is a head coach with the ego and competitive makeup of Shannahan would have preferred to go 5-11 than make the playoffs, which obviously goes on his record as an accomplishment. Yeah, OK. Make perfect sense to me.
  23. Of course not, most every coach of a 3-6 team would feel they are out of the playoffs and starting planning for the following season, this is hardly unique to Shanny. But your claim that he was actually upset that his QB turned the season around and made the playoffs is complete nonsense, why would a head coach be upset that his team started to play great and that landed them in the playoffs even if he didn't expect it? Are you actually claiming that Shannahan would have rather been 5-11 and out of the playoffs? Come on now.
  24. So your position is the head coach was upset that his rookie QB played great and that play helped nail down a playoff spot? Let's just say I disagree.
