  1. They really are in a tough spot with regard to Scherff. Regardless of the Trent situation they will be forced to pay Scherff like he's one of the top guards in the league and he is not, so that kind of automatically mean they will have to over pay to retain their own FA.
  2. Scherff is very good. Scherff is not elite yet he is the only player on the list provided by @bakedtater1 that would even be close. To retain him would cost like $16 million. For $16 mill a year, and the cost of the 5th overall pick, you needed the player to be Steve Hutchison. He ain't no Steve Hutchison and a huge contract for a non-elite player will hurt them in other spots. Ffowers played at close to the level of Scherff and will be much cheaper to re-sign.
  3. You consider Ereck Flowers an elite player? McLaurin has played only one season, there is a.difference between a young player who had a very good rookie season and an elite player who has been a different maker for several years. Scherff is very good but a bit overrated, his Pro Bowl appearance this season was simply crazy. I know this is not popular to say but he is not an elite player IMO. There is a difference between being damned good and being elite. Russ Grimm was elite, Sherff ain't no Russ Grimm. So that leaves a punter.
  4. This is my feeling exactly. A week from Sunday we will see several elite players, we have none right now.
  5. Good to know he is comfortable dropping back in coverage.......
  6. Hope, not buying that. Never will buy that. Have a good day.
  7. Dayum I wish I had thought about that. I should be able to count to 5 right? But damnit I was right about the Ravens cutting Trent Dilfer!
  8. I totally agree with the majority of this post. But let's not pretend Preston Smith or Kerrigan were dropping into coverage on a regular basis, that was only on occasion. With that said once is too many and the real problem with the previous staff is they obviously failed to develop him and put him in a scheme that took advantage of his skills.
  9. It was clear to me on a play where he forced a fumble that was being returned by a teammate. His body language said "my job is done here" as he quit on the play but he really should have continued and provided a block, he was very close. I too was thinking maybe it's a smart way to conserve energy but it was still not a good look. But as I said I can certainly overlook this, when the ball is in his site he certainly plays hard.
  10. I'm the same way. I watched enough to be able to see what a special talent he is. I too saw him taking plays off and jogging when he was not right near the ball but I can overlook that if he destroys offenses. I was about as down as any fan could be last year, just never saw anything changing with Dan Snyder in charge. That may very well end up being true but the events of the last month, starting with the securing of the 2nd pick, has me back in.
  11. Just found this thread and read the opening post. How embarrassing.
  12. My thoughts exactly, the real Astros were bound to show up. Anyone comment on the crowd? All i heard was how crazy it would be when the series moved to DC but the crowd, especially at the start of the game, was really tame. That was very disappointing.
  13. Are we really debating delinquent accounts should be cut off? If you don't pay your bill you will get no more credit, that's how the world works and there is nothing unfair about that. I remember that story and the school was so wrong. Then they lied about the reason for the termination, the letter completely contradict the reason they gave later after the outrage. What a gutless bunch.
  14. Thanks for providing this info. A 10 yard time seems to be a better tool for evaluating pass rushers than a 40 yard time IMO
  15. Kerrigan offers a skill that is very valuable and hard to find, he is never hurt and has been productive. So far Ryan Anderson has shown very little, there is no chance he will be able to provide the edge pressure Kerrigan provides. So as you can see from the responses from the other posters your position is not shared by others, including the coaching staff. There is not a player on this team that can't be criticized for something. I just think you are barking up the wrong tree with your assessment of Kerrigan when there are many other players where criticism is more worthy. And the suggestion to replace him with a guy who has so far shown virtually nothing makes little sense as well.
  16. @Koolblue13 has some pretty strange takes. But Ryan Anderson starting over Ryan Kerrigan may be the most bizarre take I've ever seen from him/her.
  17. Thanks for this.. You are right, need to wade through all the Raiders crap but this is the best highlight package I've seen yet. Can't wait to see this guy play, maybe even Manusky can't screw this defense up.
  18. I have no idea why we continue to see posts like this one. Ryan Kerrigan has been rock solid, he's never hurt, and he just puts up solid season after solid season year after year. Before the draft he was literally the only edge rusher on this team, I have no idea why he gets hate from some uninformed fans. There is no reason, zero, to bench Ryan Kerrigan for Anderson.
  19. This is pretty surprising. We all saw him play, when he actually did play, and few of us recall anything of note. But I loved this pick at the time and I'm still holding out hope but I am having my doubts.
  20. You are suggesting Reuben Foster will be a backup to Ryan Anderson and Mason Foster?
  21. With the entire country, and most of the world, anxiously anticipating his summary you really think he cut corners?
  22. Not according to these links. It appears as if his first year the figure is $10 mill plus a $20 million signing bonus. It accelerates immediately to $26 million/year and that's the figure through the season when he will be 35. Then it only drops a few million. So the Phils will be paying a 35 year old who already has a bad injury history $26 million/year, then they will be on the hook for 22 million/year until he reaches 38. I would think Nats fans are relieved their team did not make this deal. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/philadelphia-phillies/bryce-harper-8658/ https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/philadelphia-phillies/bryce-harper-8658/
  23. Not a Nats fan but I do follow them. I can't believe any Nats fan wanted them to sign Harper to this deal. I will always believe he is overrated and that contract will strangle the Phils for a long long time.
  24. Yeah that was a total team loss. It happens. They always turn the ball over and most of the time they can overcome it. This time they couldn't because everyone sucked on both ends.
