  1. I'm gonna say scheme. I would imagine he was more Logan Thomas insurance as a drsft pick than they really planned on running a bunch of 2 TE sets to pass out of. If Thomas is up and healthy, he's the guy, so not enough snaps to go around, since Bates is the better blocker for TE2. People dont really play 3 TEs that much.
  2. Better late than never. Larsen needed to be there. But what's the deal with Gates that he's not the backup center? Besides the hideous tape he put out.
  3. It's basically gotta be Paul. I'm for that, something's gotta change. They keep rolling out the same guys to get bulldozed. At this point, the OL should be Leno, Paul, Larsen, Cosmi, Lucas. I dont even want Wylie inside. Now, I dont wanna give too much credit to one guy, but they were 6-1-1 during the 8 game stretch in the middle of the year when Larsen was the starting center, 2-7 when he didnt play. But I do feel like he solidified the middle of that line when he got in there. Unless something's wrong with him health-wise I'm not aware of, not sure why he's not been in the equation.
  4. I think I'm open to trading everyone. And I mean, everyone. Up until acouple days ago, I had a handful of untouchdbles, but I'm off that. None of these guys are so good they shouldn't be dealt. Like, Mclaurin's my favorite player on the team, and maybe my favorite player since the glory days. BUT, he's not really a difference maker. He doesn't really put up huge numbers and dominate. He's not Jefferson, Hill, Kupp, or Diggs. Hell, even a guy that's supposed to be in his tier, like AJ Brown, is cooking people every single week. And a lot of that is QB play and OC's not focusing on him. But I dont see any of that changing. If we're not gonna take advantage of the asset on the field, trade him. Trade him to KC and watch him catch 90 balls for 1400 yards and 10 TDs. And Curl, Allen, Payne, they can all go if the price is right.
  5. This fanbase loves retreads and bringing back old people. We dont seem to love new, fresh energy and ideas.
  6. I dont think it was that simple. As I recall, in 2017 when McVay left, they were coming off back to back winning seasons, which hadn't happened in 20 years. It woulda been tough to fire Gruden then. On top of that, McVay and Gruden were friends and McVay owes Gruden a lot. He has said that he wouldn't have taken the job had they dumped Gruden just to make him head coach. That was his boy and mentor. I imagine it was like when they fired Mike Shanahan and people still wanted to keep Kyle, but Kyle was having none of that idea.
  7. Kirk is the former Redskin player of the week just about every week almost. lol
  8. When you have a bad culture, you have to hire a guy to fix it. So we get Ron instead of a coach with upside. But in reality, what has been fixed? I mean, any changes are really on the business side. So yeah, they don't harass women anymore in the office, amd Snyder is out, but none of that really had nothing to do with Ron. As far as the football product, feels like they just found a different way to get the same middling results they always got.
  9. Folks turned on BRob quick. lol Last year, his vision was his asset cuz folks hated Gibson's lack of vision.
  10. There's not really one offensive lineman that you really feel confident and can count on to do their job at least semi effectively. The only OL I dont worry about on every snap is probably Lucas and he doesn't play. lol Leno is probably the next best one and he's having his worst year. I won't disrespect him, he's at least been adequate in his tenure here, but not great. Just good enough.
  11. I've always believed it's not all that difficult to scheme people open in today's NFL. There were always guys open with Turner. I think EB calls plays for the OL he wants, not the OL he has. It nonsense to think Mclaurin, Dotson, and Samuel can't get open. But this OL, young QB, and stubborn OC are conspiring to waste our resources on the outside.
  12. I think the difference is the one area where they actually seem improved is red zone offense. If they get down there, they're more effective. They were 25th in red zone offense last year, but jumped all the way to 12th so far this year. 20 to 20, they're probably not a whole lot different. Inside the 20, significantly different (last drive notwithstanding)
  13. I can only imagine. It should be remembered how close they were to being shutout.
  14. This was the OL they came up with after ending last season knowing they needed to improve it. They somehow found a way to make it worse. And not even a little worse, a LOT worse.
  15. Somebody's gotta be the emergency holder. This probably wouldn't be noteworthy at all had they not picked the guy that's struggling mightily right now.
  16. Nothing would help his image more than winning games. The short term embarrasment of admitting a mistake shouldn't Trump the long term benefit of fixing it. The slobbing over Daboll last year was so over the top. I think the Giants 9-7 was clearly fool's gold. They're 4-12-1 after their 6-1 start last year. The Giants are terrible and will be for the foreseeable future. They're not building a thing, IMO. They are who we thought they were. I'm not sure who the core players are that they're supposed to be building around. Thomas and Lawrence, and it gets dry real quick.
  17. Dustin Hopkins instrumental in the Browns win. Singlehandedly responsible for 13 of the 19 points the Browns scored. Although, had Moody hit the 41 yarder at the end, Hopkins' one miss woulda been the difference.
  18. I think had Dotson not had an anomalous nose for the end zone as a rookie, he'd be getting the Dyami Brown treatment in termsof perception. As it is, the honeymoon is over. He hasn't been great. And if Samuel doesn't return next season, we won't be able to afford Dotson disappearing for weeks on end and dropping balls. I think we saw why Drake London was their top choice coming out. He's the exact guy we need at WR. Big target, catch radius, strong, reliable hands and a compliment to the smaller, quicker guys.
  19. I think an underrated aspect is not just that Howell is a young QB doing young QB things, but he's a young QB in a brand new offense. So this isn't Howell in the 2nd year of Scott Turner's offense. This is Howell having to forget all that and re-learn how to run EBs offense. And maybe there's similar basic concepts to some degree, EB isn't re-inventing the wheel of offense, but things do need to be second nature to maximize what you're trying to do. He's probably out there still thinking a lot, which exacerbates his natural tendency to hold it, and results in indecision and being slow to process.
  20. I dont think it's a Brian Robinson issue, personally. When we talk about OL, we only seem to only talk about pass protection, but this is a bad OL all the way around. They're not good run blockers either. They get manhandled upfront. It was on full display against the Bears. And FWIW, the Falcons are a solid run defense.
  21. I think we saw why Drake London was originally their guy had he slipped. He's a stud.
  22. Fast X. Better than Fast 9, but that's not saying much. X is only 10% less ridiculous than 9, but it helps. The teases for 11 have me intrigued, because 9 almost took me out of the franchise completely.
  23. I'm not sure what Flaherty's deal was this year. He wasn't really great in St. Louis this year either. I wouldnt parting with one or two of those bats not named Holliday or Kjerstad to get another starting pitcher in here.
