  1. Orioles allow 2 runs on a sac fly. Nats get two outs on their sac fly. Different bull****, still stinks Edit: It wasn't a sac fly. Play I was thinking of was that bloop hit in shallow left against the Red Sox which managed to score two runs without recording an out. Cool thing about baseball it is much easier to comeback from a series deficit, because the starter pitchers are different game-to-game. Its not like hockey where the puck sometimes just doesn't bounce your way, or basketball where the lineup is the same every game, discounting injuries.
  2. Sanchez’s numbers third time through the lineup are not good. Muncy had homered. The Dodgers aren’t taking chances with Ryu eilther
  3. Tough situation. Sanchez high pitch count forced early relief but Nats bullpen is not very deep ...hard to pin on manager
  4. Cardinals are the poster child for this. On the other side of the coin, the Tigers about 2010 - 2014 were perfectly built for the postseason but could never win it all So baseball is weird.
  5. These Tampa pitchers have just been all but unhittable
  6. Stupid NBCSN cut me off at the end of the third to go the Sharks/Knights game. Missed the game winner.
  7. Ok, I think its because when Carter hit that, there was only 1 out. So you can potentially say the next batter may have been the hero. Whereas with Soto, there was 2 outs. So it was either get on base, driving in at least one run, or end the inning, with one inning remaining to drive in 2 runs to at least tie it, which is much harder to do. So the leverage was higher. Its telling that the Hal Smith homer is highest, despite not being a game winner. It was a three run shot that the put the Pirates up 9-7 going into the 9th. However the next inning, the Yankees rally to tie it up 9-9. Then Maseroski hits the game winning homer in the bottom of the ninth. But the logic is, the Hal Smith homer should have been the game winner, because in baseball its hard to score runs in any given inning, and harder to score 2. There was also like Soto, 2 outs when Hal Smith hit the home run. I'm wondering, if Soto had actually hit a grand slam, would it then become the highest WPA added? Because the Brewers would have needed 2 runs to tie it at least, vs just 1 for the double. Probably making excuses for the Brewers right fielder
  8. Woodruff looking a little wild. Might be some opportunities here if they can draw walks.
  9. Martinez starting Scherzer over Strasburg = Showalter putting in Jimenez over Britton
  10. Well next is the sentencing phase. I believe she can get as little as 5 years, which means she could be out in 2 and half. This could be a Brock Turner like deal.
  11. One of the the bullet paths was also weird. It travelled at a downard angle, suggesting that Botham Jean was bent over, which may have been in the process of getting up, or maybe flinching. https://www.wsbtv.com/news/deep-viral/amber-guyger-trial-botham-jean-was-bent-over-or-lying-on-back-when-shot-medical-examiner-testifies/991058837 A case for extensive premeditation is hard to make. But premeditation (malice) in a legal sense, can be fomulated very quickly. In other words, you don't have to believe she set out to kill Botham Jean at any point before going into his apartment, in order to convict of murder.
  12. My o/u on the sentence is 15 years. Only because the judge realizes she'd only serve half that. So she'll have the bulk of her life left over when she gets out. Too bad Botham Jean won't. I think it was a mistake going into the apartment. I actually almost did that once (circumstances were different, it was totally pitch black because lights were out, misjudged distance between my elevator and my door, luckily the door was locked). However, once she saw a black man, I think something inside of her took over and she got trigger happy. At that point, it was an intentional act. I might have convicted (of a lesser charge) even it was her apartment. I can understand shooting someone who breaks in while you are in your home, but if you are away and you find someone in you residence, should you be alllowed to shoot them even if you or someone else aren't under direct threat? So in my mind, the circumstances of her thinking it was her apartment, didn't even give her cause to shoot the guy in the first place. Of course in Texas things work a little different I guess.
  13. Awesome catch by Wilkerson. Too bad it was negated by having a total boneheaded play on the Red Sox game winning run.
  14. Rutschmab was pretty much consensus #1 pick from what I read Even good organizations miss. Look at the Astros with Mark Appel. Didn’t stop them from winning the series a few years later
  15. Chris Davis potential last AB in Baltimore is a big one as he hits what turned out to be the game winning home run. Looks like we've got the third draft pick locked up, though we have an outside shot of catching Miami (or Miami catching the Os, depending how you look at it)
  16. Wow, I sucked. At least my Saints won. Other than that, goddang Pats backup throwing a pick 6 in the 4th quarter to the stupid Jets when they were up 30-7 ... Good thing I didn't actually put any money on any of these games. Maybe I should start pulling a Constanza and going against my instincts...
  17. ROFL. If Labour somehow wins a majority, does he think any deal he gets from the EU is going to have a snowballs chance of passing Parliament?
  18. Saw that last Backstrom goal with 6 seconds left. Good thing for the St. Louis goalie its only preseason 😆 https://russianmachineneverbreaks.com/2019/09/18/nicklas-backstrom-scores-game-winning-goal-with-6-9-seconds-remaining/
  19. Well you saw what happened with Clemson last year... though maybe Georgia is overrated. Maybe bias for SEC schools, though ND has shown they can hang with them in the past (in 2017 only lost to Georgia by 1 point, and beat LSU in the Citrus bowl that year) But in the same year, got absolutely destroyed in Miami...
  20. Raiders (+9) at Minnesota Patriots (-22.5) over NY Jets - Belicheck is ruthless particularly to division opponents Chiefs (-6.5) over Ravens Seahawks (-5) over Saints 😥 Lions (+6) at Philly
  21. This may have been the case for a while, but on my Southwest flight I noticed the emergency exit row in the middle of the plane now occupied by seats. While it still possible to use, it makes it much harder and I can easily see people in a panic tripping and blocking the exit. I really hope they never have to use those, because its a disaster waiting to happen.
  22. Some of that **** is useful. Think of things that improve quality of life such as health care expenses, more fuel efficient/cleaner vehicles, education, housing (to some degree), etc.
  23. I'll give it a look as long as D&D aren't anywhere near it. I always thought giving a full account of Robert's Rebellion would have been awesome. We saw a brief flashback in the show, but it had little context and just didn't resonate. Netflix's The Witcher has a shot to knock them down a peg so they need to get this right.
  24. Am I reading right that they are giving Furman 21 points on VT? If so I'd take Furman and the points.
