  1. This is a helpful guide for folks. In my experience this aligns perfectly with theologies and traditions that favor authoritarian views of God and leadership, myopic vision, and narrowminded theology...as well as a disregard for education in favor of a supposed “divine inspiration” that all too often looks just like the rest of society they condemn...only worse.
  2. I pretty much got the answer I was looking for about this so, I’m gonna pass on playing games with him. He’s just doing his job and that’s fine. But, I asked Ethan’s coaches, one from Ireland played semi-pro, and one from England played for a time in the Prim, neither had heard of this group nor any groups line it that are finding success in what they promise without even being able to provide stats and names of players who were later signed somewhere (I would think those names would be memorized!) So in the end it’s just an expensive two month training camp under a coach from a 2nd Division Swedish team. And it would be during the summer after his junior year which is sort of key in the college recruitment process. We’ve looked at the ODP here in Kentucky and it’s in pretty bad shape. It’s about the money now here and selection is too often not representative of the best players. It really broke down a few years ago when the ODP coach basically brought his club team on as the Kentucky team. At that point the message was clear. I follow their twitter and last year when they went to Europe they got stood up by the clubs they were scheduled to play. In the end they got some extra soccer, went to Europe and practiced in some nice European facilities. From my understanding other states have healthier ODP programs, but Ethan is already training under coaches and on a team that is playing at a higher level than the Kentucky ODP coach. We’d look at Ohio ODP but it’s already a push for us with his practice/game schedule. At times I feel like I might as well be living in Montana as far as everything is from us.
  3. I FINALLY scored a bottle of Blanton’s a couple months ago and I’ve been waiting for the perfect night to enjoy it....and it is literally just about everything I love in a bourbon.
  4. Yup, my thoughts too. Their whole approach is based on “finding the players others missed”. Which is fine in theory, but they couldn’t give me any stats on players that have gone on from their system. At the very most I’d look at it like an opportunity to train overseas, but they do a lot of recruitment here in the states which probably just means that he’d be playing with American kids overseas. Which I suppose is its own reward, but probably not $4,000 worth plus airfare.
  5. Question for the Brits in the UK. My son has been approached by the director of UK Pro Academy. https://ukproacademy.com/ Adrian Costello is apparently the head coach. Does anyone know ANYTHING about this group? Question for the Brits in the UK. 6. I was inspired by the previous post about Instant Pot ribs. Here’s mine from tonight. Central BBQ (Memphis, TN) Dry Rub seasoning, apple juice and bourbon as the juice in the pot. 25 minutes pressure cook. 10 minute natural release Coat with Stubbs BBQ sauce broil top rack until caramalized. Reglaze and shake more rub on top. Broil again. Photograph and then eat!
  7. Somewhere out there is a team photo of that USMNT Trinidad/Tobego squad that has Pulisic surrounded by 10 trash bags. Pretty much summed it up for me as well. From Donovan on I have yet to figure out this fascination with sentimentality on our US Men’s Team.
  8. I get what you’re saying, that Christianity the aparent pure version of it is not damaged because that’s not what’s being practiced. And yet, at the same time the pure version is being damaged by this current ****ization, its reputation, its image, its following especially with the very important younger generation. It is nearly impossible to bifurcate the “authentic” Christianity from this whore strutting around in her dress. People ARE rejecting Christianity because of the witness of these “disciples”. “The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians who acknowledge Jesus with their lips and walk out the door and deny Him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable.” ~Brennan Manning
  9. The perfect orgy of religious zealotry, political nationalism, and love of power. Never has that combination led to good results.
  10. Seriously, is there a better smelling herb than fresh basil? Maybe mint at a close second.
  11. Every once in awhile I get the urge to get a custom bike, but by the time I'm done designing one it ends up looking like something Sister Maria rode in the Sound of Music.
  12. I liked baseball when my son played, but damn the pro-game is awful to watch even in person. They sell 80,000 kinds of food there to keep you busy during the game. Nothing more entertaining than sitting a couple hundred feet from home plate and hearing some jackass complain at a called strike that was “clearly” outside.
  13. I used to believe that I’d use college algebra every day in my workplace....I was wrong too. Don’t worry you’ll recover.
  14. I’m not accusing you of anything, but those seeking to recast the meaning of those Confederate monuments are the ones guilty of “empty jar” reletavism.
  15. No, you’re talking about “empty jar” relativism, and we’re talking about facts. Facts like these statues were built by race baiters looking to commemorate failed slave owning revolutionaries. The “Redskins” debate involves a faux reality where a vocal extreme minority seeks to dictate reality for everyone else.
  16. Oh the GOP wants to increase Presidential authority and power...except when a Democrat is in the office.
  17. I'm sorry but did the rules change or are we still operating under the same rules that were in place with Gorsuch? If the rules are the same then your point is invalid.
  18. I agree, demeanor is as much a dis-qualifier as anything anymore. He quickly trotted conspiracies about the Clintons, and anti-Democrat rants. This from a guy who is going to be an arbitrating voice on some of the most important legal questions in our nation for the next 30 years...and he is so partisan that he allows himself to equate himself with partisan hacks on Faux News?! @BenningRoadSkinis exactly right, there was NONE of this on Gorsuch, why? Because there weren't issues with him, his confirmation sailed through. Yet, now that issues have been found with Kavanaugh, that he obviously lied to Congress about the extent of his drinking and issues with his drinking, and that he has allegedly sexually assaulted at least one woman, and now that his full demeanor was on display...you bet there are concerns, and NO they aren't partisan concerns, they are legit concerns about who this man is and whether he can and will be a fair arbiter on the bench.
  19. He uses those calendars as if they are exculpatory. As if someone who just sexually assaulted someone is going to write down that he drunkenly assaulted someone at a party. Also, who knows if those dates are accurate or when they were written, or even if he was where he said he wrote. There's no way anyone would be convicted based on those calendars. I think that's the biggest facepalm for me in this whole thing, is that a Federal judge and nominee for an Associate Justice on the SCOTUS would use those as if they were any sort of evidence at all. And then yeah, all the "but Hillary" bull****. Oh, and the "I got into Yale. I must be brilliant and innocent." Just remember, George W. Bush went to Yale too...so excuse me for not automatically assuming that you're a legal genius.
  20. Awesome! Thank you sir! I've messed around with some quick sous vide cooking, but never anything that long! What set up are you using? Sous vide device, bath, and evaporation reducer?
