  1. But but her emails. Seriously, everyone who was screaming that needs to be slapped. They're so bloody transparent. They follow Newt Gingrich step for step and they don't care that he's making absolute idiots out of all of them. Can you imagine the laughter that would have exploded out of DC if the Clinton's whined about the Deep State? Oh wait, Hillary did say it was a Rightwing Conspiracy...and they laughed at her because they knew that all they found was a stain on a dress after years of investigations. But now with 30 indictments and a dozen guilty pleas and as many cooperating witnesses they all act like it's a big nothingburger...to hell with them.
  2. Ok, I debated posting this in the “good food” thread, but this is more of a food style discussion. I found out this last week that I am not a fan if North Carolina style BBQ. I don’t care for the vinegar base pulled pork with little to no smoke flavor. The ribs were cooked and tender but no smoke, and the sauce was a sour thin sauce with no carmelization. The slaw was a thin “vinegar” based but nearly flavorless mince. I will fully admit that I am very much partial to heavy smoke, bold flavors, and rich bark and this may just be a case of me expecting something different than their style demands...but wow was I unimpressed. I was so confused and unimpressed that I reached out to some BBQ friends and each of them pretty much said the same thing. NC BBQ is underwhelming.
  3. Wife loves the kidney beans but I'm more partial to the black beans, I like adding corn as well for a southwest chili. But my all time favorite is green chili....omg yummmm
  4. Where are all of those Republicans who were screaming about Bill's meeting on an airplane? How's that? Trump ain't gun do **** about it, and without US backing neither will NATO. So unless the Baltic states are going to rally and defend Ukraine then this will pass with a whimper.
  5. (I am not taking issue with your directive in the slightest) I think the previous tangent is actually a pretty clear indication of how badly the image of Christianity is in the US right now, and probably proves the point of the thread as a whole. Jus' sayin'
  6. You want me to answer a question about Muslims. Hello! I live in Central Kentucky and I see ZERO Muslims on a daily basis. I know a handful. Stop trying to do the whole "not all of us are like that" excuse. It won't work with me. I get that there are a few, but I cannot figure out why they choose to stay in such a cancerous house. Bear in mind that I am VERY specific with my criticism of Evangelical Christianity. I know my terms and my groups and sub-groups well. If you choose to identify with American Evangelical Christianity today then that's your problem and you don't get to complain when people paint you with the cancer because even in cancer surgery good tissue is cut out in order to make sure the margins are clear.
  7. I didn't answer your question, because it wasn't worth answering. Your house in need to a good cleaning, but the infection is almost complete. If at any time you feel that the criticisms of American Evangelical Christianity aren't warranted then feel free to speak up, but until such a time as I see a real and concerted move within the Evangelical movement to rid itself of this stain then I will continue to paint with a wide brush...sorry if you get some on your shoes, but if you do then you're standing too close.
  8. You mean like spending $10,000,000+ on Noah's Ark to promote fake "science" in the name of religion all while reaping massive amounts of tax credits? Or do you mean the Xtian church in the US as a whole being so inwardly focused that they spend all of their time establishing and defending their fortresses of hegemony for angry white Baby Boomers? Or do you mean the "science" that's pushed on my kids to try and delude them into thinking that the Earth was created in 6 days just 10,000 years ago? What about the Nationalism that has so infected the American church that people can't tell that the church isn't supposed to be integrated with the state? What about the outright racism that exists EVERY Sunday morning during the most segregated hour in America. Stop me when I've crossed the line?
  9. Nice try, but I'm far more likely to be killed by a white Evangelical Christian than I am a Muslim. You can try and claim that not all are like the cartoon fake ass Xtians running around with their flags, guns, crosses and racism but your house is full of them and at a certain point ya'll need to start cleaning up your ****. Nearly ALL of the public Evangelical leaders support the GOP and Trump including Franklin Graham! This isn't about the crazies anymore, the whole movement has been corrupted. It's time that the Evangelicals who are faithful to the teachings of Jesus start speaking up against this bull****...in the same exact way that Xtians told Muslim clerics to denounce the extremism.
  10. Let me know how that works for you. Evangelical Christians by in large have earned their scorn. The reason that people paint them with a wide brush is because there are very few who deviate from the norm. And yeah, I can and will say that with authority and first hand knowledge as I am a former GOP, former Evangelical, former pastor of nearly 20 years, and borderline theist philosophical "Christian" these days. I've been around the block you're defending and I know where they keep the trash. I'm done pretending that religious beliefs are somehow exempt or worthy of respect just because someone holds them. No one gives a ****. And when it's clear that the Xtians don't give a **** about what the faith they say they believe...well it's harder to give a ****. For the record those **** are all what you think they are, don't try to soften them in the hopes that I'm not saying what I'm saying, because I am and I don't give a flying ****.
  11. That tweet by PoliMath is a strawman and I’m stunned that twa would post it....actually I’m not, but it still is.
  12. Well, I had full intention of doing something different for Thanksgiving this year, but as they day got closer I lost enthusiasm and went with the old stand bys. Herb roasted turkey: I am almost always a ham guy, but this year I was more impressed with the turkey. I took about 4 sticks of butter and combined all of my herbs, salt and peppe and created an herb butter smear which I coated the entire bird with. Shoved a quartered onion up its arse. It was delicious!!! Old Bay seasoned oyster stuffing, home-made from scratch mashed potatoes, and green bean casserole. First time with the oyster stuffing, I added Old Bay to it for an extra kick. It was good, pretty different though. Brown sugar, pineapple, clove crusted spiral smoked ham. The ham was good, but didn’t hold up to the turkey this year.
  13. Oh it absolutely does matter who gets shot. If it’s black people by a white supremacist the reaction is one way from the Right. If it’s a white Liberal who shoots a white male politician then the response is entirely different. Why? Because they are stupid. It’s the same exact crime and yet they see them completely differently because one is a sick man, and the other is the culumulative effect of Liberalism. One they can ignore, the other they arm themselves against.
  14. Meh, it was Chicago...so it doesn’t count we all know that gun laws don’t work and this is just more evidence because Chicago has some of the toughest gun laws in the country and yet it has such a high murder rate. It justcrequires that you ignore the fact that Chicago doesn’t exist on an isolated island, and that Indiana doesn’t have some of the most lax gun laws in the country.
  15. I will absolutely admit that a D2-3 signing seems a bit odd, but D1 is a serious accomplishment and should be celebrated and recognized. Heck the blue chippers are all doing videos now for their big reveals, so a photo op on signing day isn’t a big deal. Heck our high school brings ALL of the scholarship athletes up for their signing day photos, but they don’t do the big reveal stuff like picking a hat etc.
