The Official Washington Basketball Thread: Wizards, Mystics etc
Fergasun replied to BRAVEONAWARPATH's topic in The Tailgate
@Renegade7 We are in the process right now. Even the Spurs with Wemby need another young stud.. NBA is a "bust to boom" process or "mid to mid". It's been a good 5 to 7 years of "mid to mid". Do you really want them to go back to mid? -

Kuzma needs to be traded at the deadline next year. Deni and Corey can fill his production. Not sure what's going on with the Wizards on the defensive end. Although, end of the year performances should really be discounted. -

I felt like this was pretty obvious. Same with Cody winning under bloodline rules and then something between Rock and Roman build up a feud... -

Cody wins the belt. Rock and Roman will end the night with beef... -
I know Kamala ran a quite uninspiring 2020 campaign. And it's hard to shake off that impression. But politicians also evolve and change over time. Here's a recent stump speech she gave in North Carolina. I get it, she is getting the "Hillary treatment" from the other side. Any little mistake, or public awkwardness gets amplified. This is a really good message that Biden and his campaign need to hit on.

He said it on Fox News, and said it "tears him up because it was, and is so divisive." On the one hand, there's only a certain set of the population following real closely. On the other hand, we have never had a candidate facing 4 felony trials, 91 indictments, that historians overwhelmingly agree was the worst President ever, who has said he'll be a dictator on day 1. I am sure whatever democratic elections led to that german guy gaining power were also so "divisive". He still has 6 or so months to change his mind.

The only match that matters. We get Bloodline Rules tomorrow. I can see rock costing Roman the belt tomorrow.... and becoming tribal chief. -
Should the United States scrap the electoral college?
Fergasun replied to Springfield's topic in The Tailgate
People can believe what they want now. But the "we can't give urban voters power" was probably "wink, wink, nod, nod" racism in the 60s and 70s when this came up. And Southern Whites for sure understood what it meant. It should be called out for what it is now. Gee, wonder why "urban voters" don't feel their vote counts. And why some groups want to keep the argument alive. That others latch onto the argument... -

One more point. Prior to 2000, everyone agreed that a non-popular vote President would be a major democracy issue and a Constitutional crisis. It was recognized as a flaw in our system. But, "that hasn't happened for 150 years" (or however long). It's now happened twice in 20 years. We nearly went popular vote with Nixon. House approved the amendment, but the Senate blocked it. Not sure why Obama and Biden and the Dems haven't raised this back up post 2000 and post 2016. Nixon was concerned with a third party. A third party is likely to screw Biden this year (RFK). -

I am like tshile in that the arguments in this thread have gone back and forth and there's no argument that will persuade the pro-EC that popular vote is better (whatever underlying reason). Let me throw this argument out there: The President is the only Federal candidate on every single citizen's ballot. It's inherently un-democratic to weigh all of our ballots unequally due to whether the state you live in is a "battleground" state. I guarantee if (and when, it will be decades, but it's coming) we go through electoral cycles with national popular vote, the only rationale for going back to the electoral college is only MY PARTY DIDN'T WIN. Make no mistake. Under the current system only 6 states matter. Arizona, Nevada, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan. That's it. It's pathetic that the 40+ other states and citizens aren't up in arms over this. -
CNN: Six months into the war in Gaza, Israel has no exit strategy and no real plan for the future It's not like Team America has been a good example of this in the past few decades either. More.... I am familiar with the recent hostage negotiations. Hamas wants complete withdrawal for the hostages. Israel wants a temporary ceasefire (I sure there are other issues). It's like watching our politicians try to negotiate.

Tldr; Both sides! My translation: I'm RFK Jr and so out of touch with the politics of today that I'm a useful idiot. What about "grand juries" does he not understand. Are grand juries politicized? "I haven't look at this that much because I've been enriching myself from the anti-vax movement." Little evindence of an insurrection? I guess if January 6 is a singular day of 8 hours and you ignore Trump's systemstic fomenting of the "they are stealing the election movement" that started on election night (and could argue months before), lasted for 2 nights and him and cronies working to replace electors.

Bump for Israel strikes against Iran...

You have implied multiple times on this thread that the debunking of "mass beheaded babies", which was claimed by Israel sources is not true. You suggested I can go and confirm via open sources, other sources, etc. I did. I posted the source. This is a lie that has been used to justify brutality against Hamas. A lie repeated by Biden. I don't think you should just back out and say, "I am done talking about it." I am not saying this to defend terrorism -- death by a bullet or something worse is the same. But people in the past have used lies about brutality to get an emotional reaction during war. Now, I am done too. At the end of the day, we are still back to the question of "how do these sides come to peace?". With both Hamas and Bibi tryingnto be key to the peace talks, I don't think it is possible.

@Skins24 @Renegade7 From the article: The whole point is that the beheaded babies are fake news. It's a lie. There is not a mass of dead babies.
