  1. I don’t think so. Fitzmagic struggled with picking up Turner’s offense and I don’t think he got along with Ron
  2. Also it is not just anybody replacing Dorsey, it is Joe Brady who was the hottest assistant coach in football a few years ago and was headed on that McVay sort of trajectory before he bombed in Carolina. This is a great opportunity for him to finish this season strong, have another strong season next year and then land a HC gig in the 2025 offseason. We don't have anyone remotely close to Brady to replace JDR
  3. Tampa had another model during the stint with Brady where they really didn't have an omega weapon. They were just stacked everywhere with guys that fell just underneath the elite category. Evans, Godwin and an older AB at receiver Gronk and Brate at TE (people forget Brate was killing it before Gronk got there) Fournette at RB We could try to do the same thing this offseason assuming we can fix the line also.
  4. I know some here are fine with the new GM doing whatever he wants at QB but it is almost an elimination question for me with a new GM if they want to move on from Howell. Moving on from Howell also affects who you can get for HC. Howell is going to be a major selling point for a coach, not just because of what he is showing so far but also intangibles like coachability
  5. With Peters, he would pair well with Slowik Jr given the two worked with each other for years in SF. He and Ben Johnson also share a common connection in Adam Gase. Gase was OC in Denver while Peters was there and Johnson was on Gase’s staff in Miami. A FO that does not get talked about at all that we should be looking at is Tampa’s. They built a strong loaded roster before Brady got there and just needed the QB to show what it was capable of. They have faded a little but but their 2018-2020 drafts were awesome
  6. We need impact players. Filling our depth with Day 3 picks hasn’t done much for us. I am fine with being aggressive and trading up for guys who can make an impact and have a chance to become a top 5 player at their position. Fill the depth with veterans who come free for the minumum like Crowder if needed. Name a single guy we have who is top 5 at their position besides Tress. I would’ve said Jon Allen but he has regressed this season. On the other hand, look at SF. Trent, Kittle, Warner, Hufanga, McCaffrey and Bosa all fit that bill The Eagles have Kelce, Lane Johnson, Hurts and Brown at a minimum. I would count Jalen Carter as well. We need to find a way to scratch and claw our way to at least 3 All Pros next year and build on that. It is why I am pushing hard for Danielle Hunter but also why I am willing to move up in the draft or trade picks for guys that can achieve this in short order
  7. There isn't going to be a shortage of quality DCs. Frazier is already out there. Eberfluss and Staley will be out there as well at the end of the season. Dennis Allen and Todd Bowles could both be out there as well.
  8. I disagree with you regarding the 3rd round, especially the back half. It is hard to find Day 1 starters at any position there. For interior OLs taken in the back half of day 3, 2023- Stromberg was the only guy 2022 - Dylan Parham was a Day 1 starter but he was below average, Sean Rhyan is a backup and Logan Bruss got cut before the starter of the season 2021 - Wyatt Davis is a backup, Kendrick Green got shipped out before the season for sucking, Ben Cleveland sits on the bench and Quinn Meinerz is a stud So, you have 1 stud, 1 average starter and a bunch of backups. I would trade that comp pick we got for Chase and use that as a means of moving up in the 1st or 2nd if there is a player the new FO wants and needs to move up.
  9. Let's hope Tyrod can come back soon and grab the Giants another win or two
  10. Their OL talent is not much better than ours. Tunsil and their starting RT have both missed a number of games this year. They’ve played mainly with a makeshift OL. Stroud just gets rid of the ball quicker and they have schemed it up on the season as a whole better than EB has when it comes to pass pro
  11. I hope the next staff lets Dotson be the slot receiver and be the punt returner
  12. JT, Breece Hall, Walker, etc were all 2nd round RBs. Historically, the second round has been a good place to find a stud. I am wondering if the 2nd round this year has that stud. If it doesn’t, maybe we should go out and sign Zack Moss to be the lead back because he shouldn’t be expensive, he can get you a good YPC and he has home run ability as a runner. Brob’s lack of long speed as a runner and lack of vision hurt us as a lead back
  13. My point is we need a true lead back. None of the guys we have now are it. If Ben Johnson is the HC next year, we know he runs a fairly balanced offense and that means we will need both an improvement at RB and on the OL to do so
  14. Are there any guys we can grab in the 2nd this year who look like they can be backs who can run between the tackles, run with vision but also hit home runs? It kills me to see what the Seahawks have in both Charbonnet and Walker
  15. He is the top offensive guy I want in FA. Few have been more consistent than him and he would complement Terry and Jahan so well
  16. Not a fan. He impressed as a rookie but has regressed since. He is the exact type of player some team is going to overpay a lot in FA
  17. This is a weak argument. Sweat was going against Taylor Moton, a longtime starting NFL tackle on a $18M AAV deal, and he owned him.
  18. Who cares what this FO thinks? I want a young aggressive FO that is using $ to either bring blue chip talent in the door or getting value deals, no to overpaying average or above average players like we did with Wylie, Gates, WJ3, etc based on potential
  19. This idea of trading Howell away and then a bunch of firsts for Maye is a truly idiotic discussion because there isn’t a chance it happens unless Howell were to fall apart over the rest of the season. As Standig noted, Howell, even at his current level of play, is the main pitch (along with stable ownership, $90M in cap and picks) to get the strongest GM and HC in here
  20. His impact was definitely more pronounced vs Carolina. He was getting pressures at will, which opened things up for his teammates and sped things up for Young
  21. Frankie Luvu is another guy who would be a huge upgrade as a green dot linebacker. I like him more than Al Shaair. He had a Pro Bowl caliber season last year and is having another one so far for the Panthers. Didn’t realize he was going to be a FA. He is one of the best off ball LBs most on these board haven’t heard of
