  1. Obviously the Nats in the postseason would be #1. But I would be curious about a Skins game in week 5 versus an early season Caps game coming off a season where they just won the Cup. Not necessarily the first home game where they raise the banner....you know that is going to be a hot ticket. But even the next game against some random team. I just have a sense the Caps might get some early season cache out of the Cup win that they haven't had in previous years where they've been a top team but have fallen short in the playoffs.
  2. Well, to each his own, but...….IMO, you are at Extreme Skins. Now, most of us probably do have a quasi love/hate relationship with the Skins by now due to the s-show the team largely has been over the 25 years, but I would think the primary reason many of the folks are on here is to express opinions about the Skins, but generally wish the team well. With yes, the bonus of having the Tailgate to discuss other topics, including sports. And there also is the ATN forum where we get a few fans of other NFL teams to talk crap with......that's probably a testament to the level of discussion here. I'm not a big hockey fan, but I'm sure the Caps have message boards, including some that have sections like our Tailgate here. What if the Skins won the Super Bowl and I was in that forum's Tailgate equivalent and I expressed the opinion that "Man, I want the Skins to be the only DC team with a championship for the next decade!" You think that would go over very well there? Which brings me to an unrelated thought. I think having the Tailgate is cool and all, and maybe its just me, but are there people on here who solely post in the Tailgate and never in the Stadium, even during football season? I just find that kind of strange...………...
  3. So this is what is curious to me: Lets fast forward to around the week leading up to October 14th, when the Skins are playing the Panthers. Assume the Skins are 2-2 heading into that game. The Nats likely are in the playoffs at that point...….not sure if that'll still be divisional series or if NLCS (if they make it past NLDS). Lets assume it is NLDS and they are in, for sake of argument. NHL schedule not out for another two weeks, but lets assume Caps are playing at home, but say, one of the early season games after they raise their SC banner. If you're a DC sports fan, where are you spending your money that week? The Nats are likely the obvious first choice. But what comes second?
  4. This is curious to me. For instance, for the $7400 seats, are they actually taking off $3000 off the price to make the cost of the ticket $4400 per season, or are they taking $4400 off the price to make the cost of the ticket $3000 per season? If its the former, then that would be in line with past offers. If its the latter, then that would be a substantial discount over past offers. If there is a way to upload what the Skins have actually sent, I'd love to see it. I believe the Redskins asking price for the dream seats have been about the same as the midfield club seats have gone for.
  5. Was out at a bar watching the Caps game but nothing broke up the tension of that more than LMAO at the brickfest that was being undertaken by the Rockets on the other screen.
  6. Anyone know how Scott Linn is both a Caps fan and an Eagles fan??
  7. Cooley this morning said that the location of the new stadium should be announced before the end of the year.
  8. Was reading an article in the Las Vegas paper about the Raiders new stadium is in keeping in general with recent trends on making new stadiums at least somewhat on the smaller side. The Raiders new place in Vegas, at 65K, will be the fourth smallest venue by capacity in the league when it opens. But what struck me was a quote from the Raiders president talking about one of the NFL teams planning on building a stadium within the next 10 years that is taking its capacity down to 50K. The Skins released renderings for their new stadium about two years ago, and at the time it was planned to have 60K seats. However, we really haven't heard much on the stadium front since then. Is it possible that the Skins are downsizing their project, even in an area with the population of the DMV? Or was he talking about another team? Or did he perhaps misspeak? https://lasvegassun.com/news/2018/may/09/why-a-65000-seat-stadium-capacity-suits-the-raider/?utm_source=mostpopular&utm_medium=banner&utm_campaign=mostRead
  9. Couldn't find the thread that was dedicated to this great man (lol) so thought I'd put this news story in here. George should really consider a primary run against Trump in 2020. The gift that keeps on giving: https://abcnews.go.com/US/george-zimmerman-charged-stalking-man-working-trayvon-martin/story?id=54995405
  10. What radio guys are people in the DC area going to remember? I'm thinking the Greaseman from the 1980s, and the Junkies will have a place in the pantheon.
  11. Anyone going to the DDP tomorrow? Curious as to whether any changes have been made to seating at FedEx. Particularly, thought someone mentioned that they were no longer going to sell the OVs as season tickets. Does that by chance mean those seats are being removed?
  12. Well yeah, you bring up tailgating, but then bring up an example of the benefits of being present during the actual game itself. I don't think people should be ragged on for having season tickets, but the point that some make on here is that its very easy to go to all the meaningful games for a fraction of the cost of what a STH pays. And then there's the argument of "Why does one post in a thread about season ticket renewals if you're anti-season ticket?" Well, the thread is chock full of people indicating their reasons for not renewing their seats, so figure any comments are fair game. And its true that people have cited the pleasure of sitting next to the same folks at every game, but it seems that is even becoming less common due to STH turnover (or STH selling their seats!).
  13. I didn't hear the other hosts discussion of the remark FP made in the NOVA mag article, but Dukes was talking about it. To me, sports talk lends itself to "debate" and coming up to solutions to perceived issues. Which I guess is perceived by some as negative in nature. We probably agree that local sports talk is too dominated by the Redskins, but what's funny about FP's point is that, with regard to the team he covers, there hasn't been a lot you could debate in the regular season, especially since 2012. The Nats have more or less been a 90+ win team.....not a lot of nits you've been able to pick from April thru September. The lack of postseason success and how to solve that, that's a different story. Kind of the same thing with the Caps. Currently the local team which should be generating the most discussion, IMO, is the lethargical Wizards heading into the playoffs.
  14. Got a mailer today offering lower level sidelines for previous STH
  15. I personally have never set in "the cave" for a game.........but can see how some folks would prefer sitting there than high up in the 400s. It'll be interesting to see if they do get rid of some or all of the cave seats though.
  16. I think it'll depend on which ones they decide to discontinue. There are for sure some heinous seats that were added.....including some right smack in back of pillars.....but there are probably some people who would prefer to sit in a limited view 200 than they would in a higher-up 400-level seat. Especially since the 400-level seat will likely be more pricey. Here's MTH's great FedExField thread for reference on the difference in the 200 level seats added in 2004 on the visitor's side: es.redskins.com/topic/142397-everything-you-ever-wanted-to-know-about-fedexfield/ In relation, the Jaguars "untarped" 3500 seats for their playoff game against the Bills and are keeping these seats available for the 2018 season.....the first time these seats have been available since 2005.
  17. And the replacement seating offered will more than likely be more expensive than what they were paying for SRO or LV/OV. You're right, it is interesting that they would no longer offer those seats as season tickets.....unless they are planning on getting rid of them.
  18. That might turn out to be a double-edged sword though. Expectations are going to be very high in NE after the Belichick run. Think Norv coming here pretty much after Gibbs left (taking into account the Petitbon season).
  19. Sounds now like Josh is staying in NE. You have to wonder if Belichick is considering resigning like, within the next week.
  20. Especially if it involves bringing folks in from ****hole countries
  21. Skins are likely the worst team in the division regardless of whether Belichick goes to NY.......if Eli sticks around.
  22. Sounds like Las Vegas copycat plan for NYE thwarted in Houston:
  23. Kind of a cool video of BB visiting Rick Forzano, the HC of the Lions in the mid-70s who hired him to be an assistant coach there. Belichick was with Joe Bugel on the Lions staff! http://www.patriots.com/video/2017/12/29/nfl-films-presents-bill-belichick-and-rick-forzano
  24. Looks like it. Saw a page which noted the total number of 12+ win seasons for each team since the 1970 merger. The 49ers have 13 of them, and the Pats are now tied with Dallas with 12. Pats also now have 15 straight 10+ win seasons. The 49ers had 16 straight 10+ win seasons from 1983-1998. Finally, Pats currently have 17 straight 9+ win seasons. The next best team to hit that current mark is Seattle with six straight 9+ win seasons. Here's a Wiki with a lot of these stats. I think the Pats make it back to the SB and lose to the Vikings: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_current_National_Football_League_consecutive_playoff_appearances
