  2. Ok, yeah there is a nuance to that. On play stoppages, the visiting team changes lines first, then the home team changes. Then the lines are set until puck drop. In the playoffs, it’s one of the advantages to having home ice. You see the line the other team puts out and then you can match the line you want. That’s what they mean by having the last change. But once the puck is in play, you can switch however you want.
  3. Okay thanks. Maybe I've misheard, but I'd swear I've heard announcers use the phrases "Caps have the next change" or "Caps have the first change" or something like that. So I had always assumed that once you rolled out a new line, you couldn't roll out another line until the opponent had done so, they had to take turns. Guess I just misinterpreted that. Not like I could follow it anyway, even when I've gone to a game in person, I couldn't keep track of everyone and how quickly they were on and off the ice.

Why in the world would they waste a 3rd round pick on the guy that invented the Super Soaker? Dude has almost zero lateral movement. Kiper is terrible! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lonnie_Johnson_(inventor)

I'm hoping our new offensive coordinator will have more input. I'm with you on Jay as far as play calling and adjustments.

The fact that we rarely start quickly offensively & never score on our opening possession of the 3rd lead me to believe Jay is something less than ordinary. It’s not easy to be as incompetent as we’ve been to open every 2nd half since McVay left.

Excellent point, and about the 100th reason why Snyder should have fired the F.O. after this year. Coaching staff is a bit harder of a decision. I don't think there's anything particularly wrong w/Jay Gruden anywhere near the scale w/whats wrong w/the F.O. I think he's shown if you give him enough tools he can at least be league average but our F.O. has given him a dog poo D, and when they finally improved it, they got rid of his QB. Not a lot of point in drafting a QB w/a F.O. in the, "getting the blindfold put on," mode of a firing squad situation. Damn good point you made.

Agreed on all counts, particularly the need for explosive athletes. I thought Sweat looked absurdly explosive in the sr bowl, I didn’t watch a ton more, I imagine the sr bowl was not what was always on display at msu or he’d have had 18 sacks. The pressure % being higher for Sweat surprised me a bit, but Burns looks like he gives up on plays that he wouldn’t if he was 23 rather than 21 & that could create a fairly significant difference for him. Sweats 3 cone & short shuttle show promise of more, it’s not easy to get 6-6 260 touching the ground and back in 7 seconds. Burns has the twitch, undeniably... he looks formula 1 to Sweats NASCAR; I’ve never watched a race in my life, but that’s the analogy that seems most fitting.

Burns I think is twitchier and can bend IMO better than Sweat. As a pure pass rusher I prefer Burns. But I like Sweat's skill set as for being a well rounded player who can also stop the run -- with his insane long arms and speed he's a freak.

I like Sweat too. He doesn't play faster than Burns. He looks slower off the ball. His short area quickness isn't as good. His pursuit isn't as good. Some people play faster than they test and vice versa. I'd honestly be fine with any of the pass rushers, but I'm not sure any would be my favorite at that slot. I wonder if there is any chance that Sweat's issue drops him to the 2nd round. I'm not sure who I think will be better between Sweat and Burns and Ferrell. I worry a little about all of them for different reasons. I like Burns because he brings something different to our defense. We lack a speed rusher and we lack team speed in general.

    All Good Things "Star Trek"

Season 2 os ST:D just concluded. A far better second season. One definite bright spot this past season was Captain Pike and Ethan Peck was great as Spock. He even sounded more like Nimoy than Zachary Quinto. There's already a petition for a Captain Pike series. It would be interesting to see the adventures of the Enterprise before Kirk. Considering how Season 2 ended, it will be interesting to see where they take Discovery for Season 3.

  16. So awhile back, we had a golden retriever that needee a new home, and an extremeskins family took her in. I thought it was a long shot then, but I posted, and scarlet found a great home. Then last fall, I was in Indiana, when my wife called and said she may have just volunteered to to take in a dog. She said there was a boxer mix puppy being given away and she worried it would it would be made into a bait dog. That was almost 7 months ago. The problem is we have 4 dogs and 4 kids. The pup was only to be temporary until we found a boxer rescue or somebody who wanted her. Problem is, we havent found one. Coco is a kind and friendly boxer mixer. 10 months. Knows basic obedience. has developed anxiety from our alpha dogs overbearing way. With proper introduction should ok with other dogs but has anxiety around new dogs currently. Housebroken. Good running companion and crate trained. Up to date on all shots. Anyway let me know if you have any leads for a great new home.

The sublime pain of sports, and in particular, baseball. If you'd won you wouldn't remember the sequence at all.
  18. With Oshie out, they needed to replace him with a veteran. Plus, DSP brings a toughness the Caps seem to be missing this series. I don’t know if he can repeat his magic from last year, but I think his presence on the team will fire the guys up.

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/04/19/keeping-tabs-on-the-fifth-year-options-for-2016-first-round-draft-picks/ for those clamoring for a WR in rd1.. Interesting to see that out of the 2016 draft, almost all 1st rounders got their 5th year option picked up. Out of the 4 WRs drafted in the first (including Doctson) only Fuller 'might' get his 5th year option picked up... meaning the rest are busts as far as 1st round wrs go.

In testing, Sweat is bigger, faster, stronger, more sudden, just as agile, & longer — he also has the superior pressure %, but Burns is younger & he definitely looks more fluid. Love this youngster.

Reuben Foster Will Not Be Suspended!!

I don't know. That's not my narrative. My narrative is just too much smoke for there not to be fire, and there is smoke in multiple areas. Weapons, weed, domestic violence, altercations with medical staff. I don't care if someone smokes weed. I don't care if they have a gun if they aren't using it for anything bad. The fact that he doesn't seem to think that any societal or behavioral norms or legal standards apply to him, is problematic. Especially when he knew that there was extra focus on his behaviors both from the league and the team. Foster is clearly a danger to do something dumb and be suspended and I'm glad that he's not dating my sister. I am glad he's on the team. I just hope he can hold it together enough to keep playing.
  24. Doesn't matter. My point is that you have clips with allies of the admin saying the opposite of what they are saying now. You use that to create doubt of anything they say now by just running the clip over and over. Either they will be asked to respond to their previous statements or will stop putting themselves out there as a supporter. It's taking pieces off the board. "I know that guy, he was in that ad blasting the President". Well, not really. But he can explain that for himself.

  27. The slinghsot entry is so frustrating to watch. I think they do it because they found that’s the best way to get in the zone. But like you, it seems they are making poor passes and just wasting time. Last night my brother and I were just shaking our heads every time they did that and then still dumped the puck in for Carolina to go get it and clear it again. It was especially bad on the crucial PP in the 3rd. As as far as line changes, you can change as often as you want and put in whoever you want. The only restriction is that after your team commits icing, you can’t make a change until after the puck is dropped. And yes, you could leave the same players out the whole time. They switch because if you have ever skated, you know how exhausting it is. That doesn’t take into account skating hard and then taking hits. So guys get tired and tired guys get beat to loose pucks and blow assignments. However, I’m not sure Ovechkin left the ice the last 4 minutes of the game. If he did, it wasn’t for long. They’re anted him out there to score so they left him out there. So yeah, you can do that if your players can handle it.
