LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. — The Washington Redskins are pleased to announce the addition of Robin West, MD as Director of Sports Medicine.

Dr. West is a board-certified orthopedics and sports medicine surgeon and serves as the Medical Director of Inova Sports Medicine. She joined Inova Medical Group in 2014 as the Chairman of the Sports Medicine Institute, where she directs the clinical, strategic, administrative and academic affairs of the program. Dr. West currently serves as the Lead Team Physician for the Washington Nationals. Prior to joining Inova, she served as team physician for the Pittsburgh Steelers, the University of Pittsburgh athletic department and Carnegie Mellon University.

“We are continually committed to providing our players with the best possible health care and it starts with finding the finest physicians available,” Redskins President Bruce Allen said. “Dr. West’s unique experience dealing with professional and amateur athletes makes her expertise extremely rare and we are glad to add her to our team.”

“I’m excited to be to joining the Redskins’ medical team and helping to provide the highest quality medical care, where we focus to improve performance, decrease injuries and provide immediate access to an elite group of medical specialists,” Dr. West said. “I look forward to helping athletes on the field and being involved in community outreach and initiatives with the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation.”

The Redskins Charitable Foundation is ever-present in the community, constantly working to make a positive and measurable impact in the lives of children that need it most. With a focus on education, children’s health and wellness and preparing them for their future, Dr. West will support successful programs like the “High School Coaches Clinic” and sports physicals for school-aged children.

Glad to have you on board. Not going to ask for much, but I expect nothing less than zero injuries from here on out and if one occurs by an act of God I expect that injury to be healed within one day.

 We got Batman's brother !!!  YIPPEE !!!!!

Strange that his name is Robin, so when Batman calls out Robin, who jumps first??

I think you missed the gender of Dr. West.  If anything, we got Batman's daughter.  Maybe she is the reason Batman always bounced back so quickly?

Does that mean Andrews is out? I read somewhere that he was getting pretty old and supervising more surgeries than he performed nowadays...or is this a different, non-gameday position?

With the Redskins, she will work with a staff that includes Dr. James Andrews, a longtime consultant.

It seems like Pitt is like "the U" for sports doctors. From reading about her, she sounds like a great addition to the medical team.
