Bucs have waived 3rd year WR Tyler Johnson....I'd take him over Dyami right now.

At first I was thinking the same but his 40 time was 4.70 and it could be a case where Brady made him look better than he really is. I don’t want Brown but would take him over Johnson.

Eh, I don't think they would have to do that because he had a non-football injury so would go on some non-football injury list.  I wouldn't think he would have to be on the 53 and then go to IR.

But what do I know, maybe it doesn't matter, football or non-football....

If he does go to "a list" and it opens a spot, they could bring Patterson back.

Brian Robinson won't likely go on IR.  I think the plan is to put him on the NFI list (Non Football Related Injury list)

I definitely take Tyler Johnson over Brown.

I imagine Hodges goes to IR and Robinson to the NFI as soon as eligible. I suspect the first guys brought in are at CB and LB. I'd imagine Eifler or Harris are first on the chopping block. I see Keith Ismael went to injured reserve. Didn't even know he was hurt...

Maybe Dyami will have a similar second year to Johnson.

Some initial thoughts:

1. Very few surprises

2. Brown was not going to get cut.  Should he have been?  Maybe.  Are there better WRs than Brown?  Yeah.  He's going to be inactive on gamedays.  They like Cam Sims and Dax Milne, who will both be active on gamedays.  I actually don't think they will bring in somebody else at WR, whoever it is, because I think they want Cam Sims and Dax Milne to be active and play.  Could they have cut Brown and brought somebody else in to inactivate?  Yeah.  But my guess is they want to see if they can get him right and see what happens next year.

3. Keeping 5 TEs is a bit strange.  I doubt that holds.

4. Keeping 1 Center is strange, and I doubt that holds.  Though Wes can play Center.  That said, Wes might be starting at Guard.  So you're REALLY thin there. at least until Larsen comes back.  And Ismael's season is over.

5. 27 offense vs. 23 defense is the biggest spread I think I've seen. Maybe it's not that bad, but it feels very offensive heavy.

6. I had literally never heard of De'Jon Harris until today but he made the team as a LB.

7. The group that scares me the most is the CB group, and I like 1-3.  But Holmes is the only other CB.  That makes me nervous.

8.  I personally really like the safety group as of now, and I'm reserving the right to change my mind.  I think McCain and Curl are good starters, Butler and Forrest are young guys who "we'll see" and Reaves has earned a roster spot.

9. The fact that Brian Robinson is on the active roster is flabbergasting. (in a good way)  It means they think he'll be back within 4 games, I think.  I don't think they would need to put him on the roster then IR him because it's a non-football injury.

10. I didn't really care that Patterson was cut.  I liked watching him run, but I think they need more out of a 4th string RB.

11.  At WR, Erickson, he reminded me a bit of whatshisname from last year.  I think they believe Milne is that guy for them this year, so it's possible he just didn't have a spot.  And they weren't going to cut Brown to keep Erickson.  I wouldn't do that either.  Brown still has upside, if you're going to keep a 6th WR, you keep one with upside.

Do you have Charles or Paul as your 4thOT?  Both are preferably Guards.  Schweitzer is a center, so I don’t think they need to make a move there.

And the DL breakdown is more 5/4, 4/5, than 6/3.

We must be planning on using Buffalo Nickel with a rotation for our 5 safeties the majority if not all of the game. 4 CB's is super thin.

This may change to 26 vs 24 once BRob is put on IR. They could bring back someone on defense and go with 3 running backs.

And one of the TEs may go on IR too.

I was surprised to see Sweitzer saying last year was his first time playing center.  Not sure if it’s ideal to have him as the primary backup to all 3 interior spots, but I suppose they could always bring back Ismael/Larson if Roullier (and a guard) goes down (and even more so if Sweitzer takes the starting RG spot).

And yeah, @Voice_of_Reason there are 4 DTs - Allen/Payne/Mathis/Wise.

COVID rule changes messed everything up for me.  Can’t keep straight what was temporary and what was permanent.

Roster is still 53 (but we can have 54 with Bada)?

Game day we dress how many? 47?

But can we still select from 56 guys?  53 + Bada + two rotating PS guys?

Does that look correct?

What are the NFI rules? When could Robinson come back if he is able to recover this season?

I have them broken out the way they are listed on the official website.  What is odd is they have Daniel Wise listed as a DE on the roster, but in the press release, they have him listed as a DT.  So, pick your poison, I guess.

The OTs they have listed are Leno, Lucas, Cosmi and Charles.  They list Nowell, Paul, Schweitzer and Turner as Guards, and Rouiller as Center.

The issue I have with the depth is Tuner hasn't practiced yet.  Let's say Schweitzer starts at Guard, Rouiller at Center, and Turner isn't healthy.  If Rouiller goes down, Schweitzer HAS to fill in at Center, and you bring in Charles as a guard.  That's fine.  But then, you are one snap away from Paul playing meaningful minutes.  It's just really thin.  It's not the end of the world, but they only are carrying 9, a lot of teams carry 10.

Charles is a BAD tackle, though, so if something were to happen and he has to start at tackle, then that's a bad position to be in.  I'd prefer to have one more backup tackle, and I'd prefer that Turner was actually healthy.  :)

As I said, I went by the official team roster on the site:

Then they put out the roster:

image.png.e8bd87ecb61135cc04f0384ee35ecb06.png

That wasn't out when I was doing the initial spreadsheet.  So I went with what was listed on their website and figured they knew what position their own players played.

I guess that was a bad assumption.  :P

(Something else will probably post how nothing this organization does under Dan has attention to detail and this is a huge issue. I'm going to say I don't honestly give a damn, but if somebody wants to skewer the organization for it, I'm sure the usual suspects are jonesing to get their pound of flesh today.)

I'm just surprised he couldn't go onto the NFI before the 53.

Btw, if he does go to the NFI (I haven't heard it reported, but it would make sense), then I expect Robinson to come back. I think they might have waived him because they are pretty sure he'll clear.

No, Bada is not on the active roster at all. If he clears waivers, he can sign on the practice squad. Then he's subject to the same practice squad rules as everyone else (though not does not count against the practice squad limit). I don't know where this myth is that he's on the active roster as a 54th player. that's never been true.

This is where it came from.

She never really corrected her original post, just commented to confirm it, and a lot of people (maybe including me?) missed the clarification.  I think she got some blowback on twitter, and then instead of editing or fixing, she just clarified.

Typical Washington Post sloppiness.  (That last bit was sarcasm. Kindof.)
