ixcuincle
GO. TO. GAMES. As a season ticket holder it's good to see the stadium packed somewhat again, keep the trend up.
Ball Security
Last night, I really liked how Martinez brought in Harvey for the seventh and Floro for the eighth instead of the other way around. The heart of Boston’s order was due up in the seventh. Bring in your best guy instead of locking them in a certain role.

Two chances to add runs were blown with the Robles pickoff and the Garcia bunt DP. Irvin was outstanding today. The rotation isn’t scary, but they have three young guys who are proving they belong and also have Cavalli and Gray working their way back. Need to get Wood up here. I know that there’s a roster crunch, but plug him in there and make some tough choices.
CRobi21
Davey took a gamble going after Devers in the 8th. Seemed like he didn't wanna use Harvey or Finnegan again. So he went with the left on left matchup. Win the series tomorrow with a well rested A pen

I thought he was going to bring him in to face the guy before Devers.

Ball Security
Winker left the game with back spasms. With Gallo due back and Rosario’s May performance, I wouldn’t be surprised if Winker takes an IL trip. However, after Robles day, I don’t see how you put him back on the field.

Saw the Davey note that he wanted to pull Robles but Winker's back was an issue. As much as my gut says, they let him go, someone else picks him up, and he doesn't improve with a new team. It's time. Thank you for 2019. You did contribute a lot to that title. But it's time. Too old to be making stupid mental mistakes and hurting your team a few games in a row. Davey a few days ago made some comments about Wood: since this comment, I believe a few of those blasts were against lefties. I know Davey was looking to say something/anything as a reason to keep him in AAA, and that kind of backfired immediately. Even last week on Mr. Tony, Barry Svrluga said that if Wood came up right now, he'd probably be their 2nd best player immediately. If they bring back Gallo and he stinks it up while Wood is crushing still in AAA. That's going to suck.

The service time stuff has worked itself out. Maybe they are still concerned that he could come in first or second in RoY and that is the delay. Gallo is going to come back regardless of the Wood decision. The challenge is that you’d ideally want Meneses up to hit against lefties so that takes up an extra roster spot. Winker, Senzel, and/or Rosario could end up being worth at least some level of trade return. Nats are in no rush to get these guys up. They're still playing the long game. Which honestly I get. It would be awesome if the team could make a run for the WC this year, but even if they got in the playoffs they absolutely do not have a roster that can compete and win a series. There's going to be 3+ prospects ready for the bigs by the end of this year, they'll get a couple months of experience and be ready for opening day next year. Sprinkle in some offseason investment in FA and 2025-26 could be interesting years.

The main goal is to get him through the season playing on a daily basis. I wouldn’t be surprised if he stays in Rochester and shuts it down at the end of the season. For the OF, Wood is the only one ready right now, imo. And I think the reasons to keep him down are pretty weak. They have two guys (Gallo and Thomas that they have to work back). Garrett, and I just read this over the weekend, still has options. So later this month they have to find a spot on the 40 for him, but can keep him in the minors. If Winker’s back is preventing him from playing, they are down to three OFers. I think if he’s IL bound, then Gallo is the corresponding move. Lipscomb could be sent down for Wood. Then you have Thomas and Winker working their way back. Robles leaving would make the most sense especially when you have Young with the same profile. But it really wouldn’t surprise me if they activate Call if Winker is to miss a decent amount of time. I just think that they’ll play a man down until he’s ready. Always A Commander Never A Captain
MLB has new bat tracking data: https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/bat-tracking?attackZone=&batSide=&contactType=&count=&dateStart=&dateEnd=&gameType=&groupBy=&isHardHit=&minSwings=100&minGroupSwings=1&pitchHand=&pitchType=&seasonStart=&seasonEnd=&team=120&type=batter Why am I not surprised that Ruiz has the lowest bat speed and Blast numbers? This really does make CJ Abrams look like an extension priority though.
