Its not irrelevant at all. Its just that people who believe there is an issue wont believe the evidence that there is not. 

 

The problem isnt that people take the time to cast light on the fallacy, but that people would rather knock down the truth as irreverent rather than shout that the entire premise was a lie in the first place. You are justifying the lie by accepting it.
