SkinsGuru
Putting two and two together here. First, a tweet from Paul posted two hours ago: @Niles_Paul84 I got a secret for y'all but I'm going to let y'all find out for yourselves... And this tweet from Skins beat reporter Grant Paulsen a few minutes ago: @granthpaulsen Interesting nugget from #Redskins workouts: I'm hearing that Niles Paul has been working / meeting with Washington's TE group this week. What do you think?
Murphs56
Do we really need another TE? I mean unless we plan on cutting Cooley for cap reasons
SkinsGuru
Do we really need another TE? I mean unless we plan on cutting Cooley for cap reasons I think that's the big question... What does this mean for Cooley?
mojo
I think the bigger question is how a guy 6'1 225 lbs going to survive at TE?
Champskins
Hellz yea! He's one of the fastest guys on our team and he's a truck at that. Put on about 15-20 lbs and he'd be a force, hopefully still keeping his speed. Yes, we have Cooley and Davis, but they are turtles. We need speed for RG3
Califan007 The Constipated
Maybe it's "what does this mean for Paulsen"? Besides, didn't we keep Sellers on as a TE last season? With Sellers gone, maybe we move Paul into his TE position for no other reason than to keep him on the roster...
TheGoodBits
Wait... wha??? I mean, he's pretty physical based on his ST play last year, but TE? I don't see it.
Conn
I think the bigger question is how a guy 6'1 225 lbs going to survive at TE? Hernandez is 6'1+ but 240ish, so that's a good question. Hernandez looks smaller than that though, and Paul can block his ass off, so maybe he has the frame to add the bulk and be our "move" TE while Davis plays the classic "in-line" role? He may not have Paul's speed, but he's not slow by any means.
Champskins
also wanted to note that it looks like we are possibly looking at Owen Schmitt. That's great news although I do like Darryl Young. From JSteelz twitter
Conn
Wait... wha???I mean, he's pretty physical based on his ST play last year, but TE? I don't see it. I'm with Califan. Could be nothing more than a way to "cheat" the position designation system so we can keep less WR's and still have him, if we're done with Paulsen, Cooley, or both. MartinC
I could see him playing a hybrid WR/H-back type role split out and in motion but unless he has put on about 30lbs since the end of last season I can't see how he is going to play with his hand in the dirt lined up tight. From JSteelz twitter Nothing wrong with some competition. Especially since in a pinch Young can play RB.
Champskins
Davis is not slow. He may not have Paul's speed, but he's not slow by any means. I'm judging by the "eye" test. That dude is good on routes, but he's pretty slow dude
Zzj
Best way for him to stick on the roster I guess...
SkinsTillIDie
The more he can do, the better. Perhaps we're grooming Paul to be the Lorenzo Alexander of our offense. He'd be an absolute nightmare for linebackers to cover, another premier option downfield in the stretch-bootleg game. Interesting to see where this goes
J-bomb
Good Insurance, can't hurt with the jam at WR currently.

From JSteelz twitter I really don't like Schmitt, so here's hoping it is a back up plan our cap fodder. I really like Darryl Young at FB

From JSteelz twitter That would be awesome! Dude is a beast. One of the toughest S.O.B.s in the game, hands down.
SkinsTillIDie
I'm judging by the "eye" test. That dude is good on routes, but he's pretty slow dude As far as tight ends go, he's not Vernon Davis, but he's in the upper tier for athleticism and speed

SkinsTillIDie
On passing plays, our tight ends generally chip and go out into routes, and on running plays, aren't asked to block in-line. As Keenan McCardell said, Niles Paul is the best blocking receiver he's ever seen. I doubt we'll be asking him to pack on significant weight
