Though things didn't start out too well for the Redskins at home against Arizona, their 22-21 comeback win served to prove that last week's defeat of the visiting Giants wasn't just the first stop on Washington's annual rollercoaster ride.

Washington quarterback Rex Grossman was his helter-skelter self at times, with two touchdowns but two interceptions, yet he threw for 291 yards and led three fourth-quarter scoring drives. And the best news for Redskins fans was how well the team's running game performed. Tim Hightower (96 yards on 20 carries) and rookie Roy Helu (74 yards on 10 rushes) are a potent 1-2 threat.

Given the state of things with the Giants and Cowboys, Washington has every right to think it might be the most serious contender to Philadelphia's supremacy in the NFC East.

First in the east.

Interestingly, we've given up 35 points in 2 games, while the Eagles and Cowboys have given up 48 and 51 points respectively. Lets hear it for some D.

This year so far the D looks completely revamped and impacting games, gone are the 3-4 vs. 4-3 threads as well as the Canadian poster who splattered them daily on ES.

Rex had 1 interception and one batted ball of doom from the receiver.
....and the ball was batted because the defender was holding AAA's other arm. It should have been called by the ref.

The pass would have been perfect if not for that.

Let alone Moss fell down on the other INT. so really both of those INT's were not brain fart Romo sits to pee INT's at all. They were fluke INT.s and Skins fans should acknowledge that.

Not to play the role of debbie downer or anything, but, while the defense has looked better and done a better job getting off the field, the defense is giving up a shocking amount of movement in yardage considering the other team has less than 25 minutes per game in time of possession. Again, part of that is the defense getting off and part of it is the offense producing, but, we should probably be better given how little the other team has the ball. To me, it'll bear watching as the season goes on. In the first half when the Giants cared about running and in the second half when the Cards did, they could and they could sustain drives. In a more normal 30 minute time of possession game, we might be significantly more frustrated with our defense than now.

It's still better than last year and it is likely we just played two teams who will finish in the Top 10 offensively this year with a third next week, so, in all, nothing to get down about. Just something to watch.

Rex had 1 interception and one batted ball of doom from the receiver.

Exactly. And the WR? He WAS BEING HELD. That was not a pick on Rex.

He's got to make better red zone decisions, because that game was closer than it needed to be...in my estimation we could have won that easily, had we executed better (we left at least 9 points, and up to 11, on the table). I'm not complaining. But some teams are good enough to beat the Skins if we make those kinds of errors.

BEAT DALLAS!

I don't think it's OUR defense that is looking weak, and probably top 6 team based on the Points against.

EVERY defense seems to be having problems with the lockout, new rules, full moon.

Points Against on NFL.com looks like its a goal to be higher with some of these teams... Colts/KC :)

Laron steps on the field it goes down 10% more.

Rex throws a deep TD on a 4th down late in the game trailing by 8, and Banks still hangs crap on Rex.

He should study Romo sits to pee's games more closely.

I only read the part that was quoted in the OP, but where exactly did Banks "hang crap" on Rex? All he did was state facts. Grossman was shaky early, and was money in the 4th qtr.
