FedExField: The Redskins Ask For Volunteers

Recommended Posts

The Redskins are looking for a few good fans.

The team would like to improve the quality of game day at FedExField. They are going about this in a number of ways, one of them being they'd like to try to curtail the disruptive behavior of the few fans which leads to the taking away of the enjoyment of the game for so many other fans.

What the team would like to do is enlist a force of fans scattered throughout the stadium who would be willing to immediately report any unruly conduct within their area - whether it be a fight, intimidating behavior, physical harassment, excessive intoxication, offensive language, or anything else that is disruptive. The idea is, any unruly behavior would be reported right away via text or cell phone, and security would be dispatched immediately, as needed.

If this is something you'd like to volunteer for, please contact either Pez or myself by PM.

Thank-you.

Thanks Mark for posting this.

For anyone who comes on a continual basis to Fedex Field, you should definitely take part.... it is as simple as a quick text, call or email.

Lets make sure the stadium is a great place for all of our fans!

The Redskins are looking for people who are already attending the game, particularly folks who attend a couple games or more during the course of the season.

What it essentially adds up to is, that they would like to form a sort of "Neighborhood Watch" support group, as even though they have quite a few security folks in the stadium, they can't see everything all of the time.

This group would not only assist with this task, but would also have input on what would make our gamedays better.

As much as I love to talk **** about Dan Snyder it can only help the stadium going experience if more people police the truly bad behavior of others. I'm not talking about drinking too much or standing up during a play - I'm talking about starting fights and swinging fists.

I am interested in this, not sure how this would work differently than what the team has now, but willing to hear the details.

BTW, If there are any sections on the lower level between the 30's that need watching (other than the cave), I would be happy to have my seats relocated. :)

BTW, MTH and Pez, please make sure your PM inboxes have room.

Mark, I would be more than happy to assist as a volunteer usher/bouncer/greeter etc in exchange for admission. Do you forsee a need for such a thing?

At the draft day party, they had an info booth for game day workers. I asked how much it paid (min. wage) and if the cheerleaders needed a water boy (the woman at the booth said they did).

Sign me up!

PM's have been sent, let me know if I qualify for an interview :)

I love the survey's they send out (despite their length), and would love the chance to help improve the game day experience both in terms of reporting things and in terms of providing input.

Thanks for the info Mark.

How does this translate into participating in providing input to make things better? Just curious.

Tip 1:

If you want to make traffic suck less after the game, build ramps over the entrances/exits to the parking lots for people to walk OVER instead of through. That's the #1 hold up. People stopping the flow of traffic :)

I've texted the operations office twice in the past about fights. Not interested in being part of any formal community watch. But the text number is announced often and is plastered a couple different places in the stadium. I have it saved in my cell phone, too. I think all fans should participate and report idiots. Sad thing, is more often than not, it's Skins fans that start the problems. Two fights near me at the Giants game were clearly caused by mouthy Redskins fans who just couldn't enjoy the victory without being *******s.

More eyes and ears is always a good thing. Hope it helps to cut down problems. But frankly, as long as tickets are so readily available to anyone by resale, this will continue to be a problem. I do not believe it is as bad as some post on ES, but it is a regular occurence at games; particularly with teams that are from our division or teams that travel well.

Horrible fight at the last game right behind us. Two very drunk fans rolled into our section towards the end of the game. The one couldn't stand up and kept falling into people. When someone asked him to leave, he swung at them. That is when it hit the fan. Hitting, pushing, kicking between about 6 different people. A family was right aside of them. The little kids were crying, their oldest teenager (innocent) got punched and someone got shoved into the mom who just had neck surgery. She was taken to the medics. The drunk guy was finally escorted out by the cops, but it took a long time. This all happened as the Skins were driving down the field at the end of the game to take the lead.

You see at least one instance of this every game. It is ridiculous. Sign me up. I"ll send a PM.
