TheShredder
PFT: Jarvis James Signed to Colts Active Roster http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/10/07/colts-add-a-running-back-cut-a-linebacker/ Colts add a running back, cut a linebacker Posted by Mike Florio on October 7, 2010 12:03 PM ET With multiple injuries at running back, the Colts have added another one. The team announced today the signing of Javarris James. As Stampede Blue points out, Javarris is the cousin of former Colt Edgerrin James. He was with the team throughout the offseason, training camp, and the preseason, before being cut. James was signed from the Redskins' practice squad. As a result, he has a three-week guarantee on the active roster. (Or, at a minimum, three weeks of roster-level pay.) To create a spot for James, the Colts also announced that they have cut linebacker Tyjuan Hagler.

Audible_Red40
Just wondering. Does a team have to give notice, or a grace period, of signing a player from another teams practice roster? Could we have "matched" the signing, and made him active? Or is it just a done deal and time to move on?

Snarky
Quinn Porter graduated from the same high school I did -- that's odd. My wife is a journalist and is digging up stories from our local archives... it's all so strange. Porter said he wants to play against the Pack real bad because he knows "all the schemes and personnel." Hmm. Wonder if that played a factor LOL. Snarky
"Stillman Tigers running back Quinn Porter (RB) earned All-SIAC honors rushing for 1,247 and nine touchdowns. Porter's great play allowed him to showcase his skills at the HBCU Bowl were he was sought out by scouts to talk after one of the practices. The 5"11, 201-pound slasher has fluid hips and a good burst once in the open field." http://www.blogtalkradio.com/all-access-football/2009/12/30/quinn-porter-nfl-draft-bible-player-spotlight-show

I mean the packers aren't exactly stacked right now at RB, you'd think if he'd shown them any "flashes" he'd be on their active right now. Then again he just might not have fit their scheme (not exactly sure what sort of O scheme they run) :whoknows:
DGREENHULK
I'm sure porter is already in the film room with the D telling them everything they need to know about GB's scheme.....Bruce Allen is an evil mastermind bawhahahahha.

Have to think that this is Shanahallen's MO by now: find somebody with high potential who got banged up and fell from grace. Maybe that's his secret to all those 1000 yard diamonds in the rough. TheLongshot
The Colts certainly like our players. That's the second one they picked off from us in the past year+ and three total with the Tryon trade.

Yeah because that worked so well when we plucked Mix and the QB from Kentucky off the Giants PS a couple of years ago. Suffice it to say, we already have film on their offense and they'll be changing their signals this week.

jflow78
From Rotoworld: Quinn Porter 6' 205 lbs. Redskins signed RB Quinn Porter to their practice squad. Porter is healthy now after spraining his MCL in Packers camp this summer. With only Ryan Torain and Chad Simpson healthy and active, Porter is worth tracking in D.C. We're tentatively expecting Keiland Williams to be promoted from the practice squad this weekend to act as the No. 2 back against Green Bay. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=nfl&id=6264 Here are his preseason stats: http://www.nfl.com/players/quinnporter/gamelogs?id=POR355697 More on the injury: Green Bay Packers RB Quinn Porter (knee) is wearing a brace on his left knee, reports Bob McGinn, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Porter indicated that the injury was a sprained MCL, which doesn't require surgery but could sideline a player for a month or more. Porter suffered a similar injury while in college when he was a member of the cheerleading squad. He has been placed on Injured Reserve, which means he will miss the season. another tid bit: Green Bay Packers RB Quinn Porter will get a look during training camp as a punt and kick returner, reports Packers.com's Mike Spofford. Porter was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Stillman College. pro day stats: Justin VanFulpen, of NFL Draft Bible, reports Stillman RB Quinn Porter measured in at his Pro Day with a height of 6-foot, 205 pounds. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.45 seconds. He measured a 32 1/2-inch vertical jump, a 9-foot-3 broad jump and completed 16 repetitions on the 225-pound bench press. and more news clips: http://www.kffl.com/player/22865/nfl
