Gator Bait Posted January 17, 2012 Share Posted January 17, 2012 very very impressed with mcgee progress and I have painfully watched every game this year, offensively he has improved..that being said he needs to know his limitations , where we are in a game situation, what's a good shot in this particular moment, overall bball iq from the games I've watched, I've thought his shot selection is pretty good. Definitely much better than last year. Unless you can find a way to land a center that is better than him your complaints are just noise. The bottom line is that you don't improve a franchise by dumping it's better players, especially at the center position which is horribly thin at the moment league wide. This team is young enough: (red rookie, yellow 2nd year) Wall / Mack Young / Crawford Singleton / Vesely Booker / Blatche McGee / Seraphin If we got any younger we'd be hoping for a final four appearance. yeah, we need to get some legit vets to put on this team of young boys. Sorry I rather have a player with substance over style, I get it you love mcgee..me not so much he's a 23 year old center who has improved every year he's been in the league. He averages a double double and leads the NBA in blocks. NBA centers typically aren't fully developed until they are at least 27, so it is likely McGee continues to get better. you don't get rid of the bright spots on your team....especially when you don't have too many of them. You add a legit 20ppg wing scorer to the core of Wall and McGee and you start to move forward and have a chance to get in the playoff picture. I'm not really sure how he would fit in on this team? Jeff seems like he is best suited as the first forward off the bench on a contender. I'm not really sure where he fits on a young team....too small to play 4 and doesn't seem to be the scorer that we'd need on the wing. Memphis did really well w/o him at the end of last year and in the playoffs, they might be willing to trade him for a lottery pick (especially since he has a large contract). Ruby is a good scorer, he can run the floor with an up and down team, he is a pretty good rebounder. He'd be a 20-7-3 guy on this team....I'll take it. Javale has made a few strides, that's fine, but he's too dumb of a player and I see no signs of that changing.I highly, highly doubt you'll find anyone who isn't a Wizards fan agreeing with you that Javale is a top-3 center in the East. Yeah, you can cite statistics like blocks, etc. That's all well and good, except when you consider how many points he gives up because of his willingness to (still) sell out for virtually every block. There are many centers in the East right now I'd take over McGee without batting an eye and I hope EG doesn't break the bank on him, because I promise, like Nick Young this past off season, he won't have very many suitors. Agreed. A legit 7 footer that can give you 12 and 10 a night is worth much more than a SG that put up 16 and isn't particularly good at anything else. It's a question of scarcity and there simply are wing players to be had with that level of production. If Nick Young was a 24ppg player things would be different. He isn't. He'll command a contract similar to Marc Gasol. I think it will be slightly lower. The team will still need a starting SG, SF, and PF and one of them will need to be occupied by a 20+ ppg player or someone that potentially will become one. Would absolutely love to have him at the PF position. He looks to me like he could turn into a KG type player with range and enough quicks ball skills to attack the basket instead of simply need the ball on the block to generate offense.
