Going Commando
Yeah, we can and will match any offer he gets. There won't be any poison pills a la Jeremy Lin/Omer Asik deals since he'll get a max or near max offer. It's in our interest to negotiate him down as low as we can.

TradeTheBeal!
Stroking Otto to the max without any negotiation is an insult to Brad and especially John. He's not on that level and you don't send him back into the locker room as your highest paid player thinking he's on that level. Drag if out if you have to. Otto needs to spend the offseason with a little chip on his shoulder like he's got something to prove to his teammates. Max or not...

The knowledge that he's a certain match could deter offers and keep his price down. Ernie tends to bid against himself on these things though. Destino
He can't create. He's not a dominant defensive player. Ernie will bid against himself, as Steve has said, and give him a max contract. What else needs to be said?
Warhead36
I don't see anyone offering Porter the max. A contender would rather go for an elite big name and a rebuilding team isn't going to give a guy like Porter the max. He'll get a big contract, but he won't get a max. John needs to start flexing his influence.

Skins199021
If it Brooklyn is going to Max Otto than that in itself should show how stupid of a move it would be to max him
Llevron
I hope hes a 'lame' like my nephew says and takes a deal. Otherwise I agree with yall (and John Wall, btw) that we should throw the money else where and take a shot. Unless we sign and trade, that is. Destino
Truth is Otto should have been extended for less than max money before this point. I realize that it takes two sides to get a deal done, but it seems Ernie never gets this sort of thing done. The best teams seem to have little issue creating value by signing young still developing players to team friendly deals, but for some reason the Wizards still seem to be a team players wouldn't choose if all other factors were equal. I would really like our local media to investigate why that is.

Going Commando
They are. You trust David Aldridge right? Otto has to agree to a S&T. He'd have to walk away from a boatload of money in his first payday. Why wouldn't he just sign an offer sheet with Brookyn instead if they offered him the max? For an S&T to work, Otto would have to want to play in Indy so bad that he'd be willing to leave a whole bunch of money on the table. I don't think that's realistic. We need Indy to hold off on dealing George during the offseason.

RonArtest15
He's going to "mull" over the offer.... Reading between the lines, he's going to make EG sweat a bit and see if he can actually pull off this Paul George trade. Not a chance in hell he turns it down, obviously LOL. SuperBash
Well he could turn it down, make another All NBA team and the get the 5 year 217 mil next year
Going Commando
It's a huge risk though. Westbrook, Curry, Harden = three of the six spots. CP3 is probably a lock too. He has to compete for the final two spots with a lot of other guys.
