dfbovey
So the Eagles just traded for Ernie Sims from the Lions as part of a 3 way deal that also included the Broncos. Reports say that the Eagles gave up a 5th round draft pick for their part. So in a sense, this kinda sets McIntosh's value in that same area. 5th round pick, 4th rounder at best. IMO, if that's the case there's more value to keeping McIntosh.
p0rtis26
McIntosh is better than Ernie Sims so I think Rocky has at least 4th round value.
Mr. Sinister
If this was the NCAA I'd take Ernie Sims in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, it's not, and he's just a mediocre player at best. I think Rocky's the better player, and I also think he's going to stay here, after cooler heads prevail.
RabidFan
a 4th? that blows but if he' isn't a sure fit at 3-4, will always be one knee tweak away from career ender, and that he feels entitled when he shouldn't right now.
TheLongshot
Rocky's value is whatever value the FO has set on him. I don't see any strong desire by the team to part with him. The only time the market is set is when a team wants to get rid of a player.
GibbsFactor
It's amazing how little players are trading for this year. You'd think without the CBA and rookie scale in place there would be more value on the player then the pick. The draft picks are trumping players this year. Goes to show what I know. Rufus T Firefly
Sims has been regressing for a couple of years and was almost to the point of being benched. No comparison for Rocky, imo.

It is a very strong draft, with a lot of players coming out early to get in before any sort of rookie cap gets put in place. It is the reason why you see a lot of trades for next year's draft picks. Travdaskin
Ernie Sims is better than Rocky. He just got hurt last season. Just saying...

I don't see any strong desire by the team to part with him.The only time the market is set is when a team wants to get rid of a player. They've said they haven't attempted to trade him. But similar players being dealt certainly effects what a player is worth if they do decide to go that route.
VaBeachRedskin
Ernie Sims lost his starting job to DeAndre Levy last year. Both Sims and McIntosh have injury histories, but the situation regarding their trade scenarios are not the same.
santana_4_prez
It was Cleveland's 5th, which is pretty close to a 4th rounder. But anyway...they got Scheffler in return, so this isn't that good of a measuring stick.
dadirtbags
I have not kept up on Sims or anything.... but I would imagine a player like Rocky...skipping OTA's ...saying that he is upset...not happy with the organization...is not helping his trade value no matter if he is better than Sims...JMHO
Skins-Canes-Mounties
McIntosh is worth more than Sims. I would guess the FO could finesse a 4th out of him. A 3rd seems high, but maybe a very late 3rd. The knee injury threw a wrench into setting Rocky's value as it threw off his progression. It would be nice if we could get one more year out of him before trading him. If he puts together a nice year, he might be pretty valuable next offseason. NoleSkin21
Sims had 420 tackles in 4 seasons, and missed 5 games due to injury last year. Rocky has 296 tackles in the same 4 years. How do you determine Rocky is better than Ernie? Ernie lost his starting job to Levy due to injury and was never 100 percent at any point last year. vainglory
i wouldnt take anything less than a second....do you seriously think we could draft someone better then him in the 3rd, 4th and so on? I certainly do not!!!!!
Going Commando
Damn this league really is Not For Long. Two years ago Sims looked like one of the most promising young WLBs in the entire league. A scheme change and an injury later, he's got no place on his own roster and gets traded, basically, for a 5th round pick.
Laxpunk2006
If we're going to assign Rocky value based off this trade we should look at what Detroit got in return which is Tony Scheffler, a pretty good TE. Detroit did well in this trade it was Denver who only ended up with a fifth round pick for a starting TE.
[[ghost]]
Trade value is always lower than a player's real value. Unless they're elite and just hitting their prime. Haynesworth is the best Defensive Lineman in the game, and he can't garner a 1st. McNabb is one of the most successful QBs this decade, and pulls only a high 2nd. Chump Bailey
McIntosh is better than Ernie Sims so I think Rocky has at least 4th round value. Don't agree at all. Ernie Sims is a heck of a LB.
SkinzFan007
mcintosh is on another level compared to sims right now. both are young weakside linebackers but rocky is a lot better player at this point in time. sims has done nothing but regress every year since coming into the league whereas rocky has only gotten better. Commander Adama
The only comparison that Ernie Sims has with Rocky McIntosh is their first names end in the -E sound. I know a stretch.
bulldog
teams always overrate their draft choices RIGHT BEFORE the draft. why? let's face it. personnel guys have been spending the past 4 months doing nothing but going back and forth on college players. they are hungry now to make the picks and a herd mentality sets in. you could offer up a pro bowl linemen and teams are going to offer a third round pick. meanwhile, over the summer when the realities of the season set in, all of a sudden teams are willing to give up a lot more to get that same player when looking at a 16 game season with a glaring hole in their lineup. meanwhile, the chances of that #3 pick actually turning into a pro bowler are about what 10%? it's a joke. but it's human nature:
