StillUnknown
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4918465 The Oakland Raiders and Sebastian Janikowski reached agreement Tuesday morning on the richest kicking contract in NFL history, according to league sources.Janikowski will sign a four-year, $16 million contract that includes $9 million in guaranteed money, sources said. It also removes arguably the top kicker from the free-agent market. Other notable free-agent kickers are expected to include Cincinnati's Shayne Graham and the New York Jets' Jay Feely. In 10 seasons, all with the Raiders, Janikowski has scored 1,000 points, converting 78.4 percent of his field goal attempts (229 of 292) and 313 of 316 extra-point attempts. He scored 95 points in 2009. Adam Schefter is ESPN's NFL Insider.

bushwack
They got $32M tied up in guaranteed money between The Punter and Kicker. That is insane! They don't have $32 million guaranteed tied up between Lechler and Janikowski. They have $18 million in guaranteed money tied up between the two. Lechler's contract: http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=813 Janikowski's contract: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4918465 It's still a lot of money; however, they are the best players at the position in the league and Davis has given out much larger contracts to players who have performed horribly for him: JaMarcus Russell, DeAngelo Hall, and Tommy Kelly just to name a few. Hiro
It's still a lot of money; however, they are the best players at the position in the league and Davis has given out much larger contracts to players who have performed horribly for him: JaMarcus Russell, DeAngelo Hall, and Tommy Kelly just to name a few. The Tommy Kelly contract blows my mind to this very day. They essentially bid with themselves, and signed a non-pro bowler to a monsterous contract which essentially set the bar higher for defensive linemen. Poor Oakland fans. Destino
Kickers win games (and lose) more often than football fans like to admit. Having a clutch kicker can add or subtract 2 wins a season (at least) and be the difference between a superbowl win (Patriots) and a loss (Bills). The best make a difference in the win loss column greater than most other players.
Old Bay
Is Janikowski really considered a clutch kicker?
Brandon Lloyd Christmas
Is Janikowski really considered a clutch kicker? dont know about clutch, but hes probably the best overall kicker in football. the guy missed 3 FGs last year, one was from 40+ the other 2 were from 50+, and he hit 6 50+ yard field goals last year. thats pretty nuts. Old Bay
I didn't realize he was that good. Oakland Raiders syndrome strikes, I suppose.
kubstix
Is Janikowski really considered a clutch kicker? Easily the best FG kicker in the NFL.
Brandon Lloyd Christmas
I didn't realize he was that good. Oakland Raiders syndrome strikes, I suppose. the raiders have some of the best players at their positions (punter, kicker, cornerback, DE), they just happen to have some of the worst players at key positions (QB, WR). and al davis.
