SonnyandSam
9 punts, 45.2-yard average (37.1 net average) Yeah, everything else sucked tonight....but we may actually have a dependable punter....no shanks.....no line drive punts.....no kicking out of the end zone.... And it appears Hunter Smith will lead the league in attempts the way our pathetic offense looked tonight. 9 punts in one game....that works out to 144 punts for the season....nice.......

Mickalino
His leg will be dead by week 1 at this rate. Zorn may have to keep 2 punters, due to that. Unless Cooley has a boomer leg :hysterical:

mjm4soccer
Did one of his kicks get partially blocked? It seemed like one of his last punts was only about 35 yards or so.
Mickalino
Hey, our punter last year, Plackemeir, basically won the 2nd game against the Eagles last year, single-handedly, so who knows what this guy can do.
GibbsFactor
Besides Orakpo and Jarmon he was the most impressive guy out there. :httr:
GhostofSparta
I don't get it, why didn't Cooley punt tonight? He's our backup, and the backups played at every other position! If they don't let Cooley practice punting in our next preseason game our season is lost.
Justsomeguy
He did a fairly good job but it he screwed up his first or second kick and that last one pretty bad. I just hope that he gets all that crap out of his system.
Peregrine
That was an improvement over what we have had. I am not worried about Hunter Smith, he punted great in Indy. If he doesnt do well here, we can officially blame Danny Smith. 45 yards per punt would actually be in the top 10 in the NFL. The only reason his net wasnt better was because the coverage was HORRIBLE. So many people out of position and missing tackles.
SkinnedAussie
If everyone is so concerned that Hunter will be done by week 1, maybe we should start looking for a FA kicker who can also punt. If we take today's (Aus time) game as an indicator, there will be no need for a kicker on the roster, so at least get one who can punt.
