GibbsFactor
I guess N. Korea thinks that kidnapping a few Americans will get them a seat at the table. I think we've got to go in and do something drastic over there. For the people that live there alone. It's amazing a country like this can still exist. THE OUTSIDER
What do you mean they should have known better? They should have known better than to go shoot a documentary in China? But if they were really close to the NK border as someone pointed out, common sense have to kick in.

I don't think we would have that tough of a time finding other governments that have a stake in helping to change things over there.
honejc
big reason why north korea has been recently starting to do testing and this BS is due to the lack of consitency in the current obama administration under W, rarely did u hear of this bs from NK, and if they did anything W was all over them calling for sancitons i dont care if u like W or not, but under his admin, no one effed with america. under obama, Iran and NK have started nuclear testing, and what has he done? appeasement... know where that lead last time us went for appeasement... does adolf hitler and WW2 ring a bell? under current administation, we are going to be turned into a socialistic and weak country

Yea but we see exactly what happens when the US does any type of military action. The whole country gets behind it at first, then when it becomes a political advantage to switch positions, half the country does. Heaven forbid if we went in and did something and it took more than 6 months to complete. I agree something needs to be done but nothing will be. We will continue to talk things out cuz diplomacy is the answer when dealing with radical leaders of rogue nations right?

NK has kidnapped hundreds of South Koreans and they grabbed a 13 year Japanese kid off the street and those countries did nothing except send official complaints. #98QBKiller
We will continue to talk things out cuz diplomacy is the answer when dealing with radical leaders of rogue nations right? At first yes, but a line is to be drawn somewhere and I don't think the Obama Administration is going to try and talk for too much longer. Nobody wants to deal with Korea. NK has kidnapped hundreds of South Koreans and they grabbed a 13 year Japanese kid off the street and those countries did nothing except send official complaints. Yeah I've read about the Japanese kid that was taken over there. Why do you think Japan didn't pursue it harder?
SkinInsite
Yeah I've read about the Japanese kid that was taken over there. Why do you think Japan didn't pursue it harder? It's probably because Japan doesn't want risk a few missile send to their cities. Plus most of the kidnapping happened in the late 1970's, early 80's so it wasn't wide spread knowledge till recently and there weren't massive outrage. And any strong action by the west would put South Korea at risk, Seoul would probably be wiped out if a war broke out.

I really wish this was the case but there is even more at stake in taking action in NK than there was in Afghanistan and Iraq. I hope they step up and do something more than talking and sanctions but I really dont think they will.

Special K
But if they were really close to the NK border as someone pointed out, common sense have to kick in. So they shouldn't have even gone near the border because they should have known they would be essentially kidnapped? Time to call Johnny Rambo. Lol, I'm about at the point in my opinions as to what we should do with NK.I would love to just go in a full-on Kim Jong Il's ass with our military, but it's such a delicate situation over there, I could see us cornering him and his government and him going bat**** crazy and doing something really bad to the neighboring countries... deejaydana
Any negotiations we take w/N. Korea going forward MUST involve China sitting at the table as well. They are the biggest food supplier to that country and have as much, or really even a greater stake, in what transpires there. Say what you will about that little imp they have running the show: he does know how to negotiate. Rotten little, black-hearted ****.

addicted
It's time for Obama to show he's not the second coming of Jimmy Carter and get these women released now. Otherwise in 2012 expect another Regan moment when the Republican comes into office and gets them freed. I'd rejoin the service for a chance to go kick some North Korean butt. addicted
Maybe some of you should let things unfold before pulling out your little weenies for a partisan pissing contest? :whoknows: Really? How long do you want to see these women abused before stepping in and helping them? Is 444 days enough time for you? Or should we just ignore them completely and let them rot? I'm going to be freaking shocked if the media even picks up any steam on this story. My bet is these women are screwed since Obama doesn't have the balls to deal with this situation and they refuse to talk about anything anti president these days. We will see though. I love how when the shoes on the other foot you supporters refuse to place any blame on your guy, when Bush was in office every single problem was his fault. Obama....not so much huh? Obama....not so much huh? :blahblah: Same old song and dance. To me this is an American issue not an issue of Bush/Obama, Democrat/Repub, Conservative/Liberal or any other two-sided line of thinking you've got in your warped, spring-loaded-to-spew-garbage little mind, which is exactly why I made the comment about the pissing contest. It's ****ed up what kind of situations people will take and use to make political jabs. If you're not a part of the Adminstration then you have no idea what's going on behind the scenes or what kind of info the brass has on this situation. So why don't you let them do their jobs and get to the bottom of this before you start shouting out opinions that you heard on your favorite morning talk show? Predicto
Seoul would probably be wiped out if a war broke out. This. All you internet tough guys, please explain to me why it is a good idea to start a war with a nuclear armed country led by a completely insane madman with a gazillion artillery tubes pointed at 25 million South Korean civilians less than 40 miles away from the border? All of you want to rant about how weak Obama is, please explain to me why no one has taken care of this simple North Korean problem before? Not Bush II, not Clinton, not Bush I, not Reagan, not Carter, not Ford, not Nixon, no one. It isn't as simple as just "stop being a *****, haw haw haw."
