TheLongshot
This is from the "What Moves U Challenge" at Redskins Park the other day. Some good video here about Alridge's speed, including the last drill where he outran Dorsey. http://blog.redskins.com/2009/05/21/tuesday-may-21-anthony-alridge-as-fast-as-advertised/
@DCGoldPants
Is this going to be like "Mix is tall"? I mean.....does he really have a shot to make the roster? really?
Chanhillbilly
If he was so fast and great, then why did Denver cut him? They didn't have a running game for about half the season there with everyone on IR. Just asking. And I do hope he makes it and takes over PR duties from ARE. Stugein
Those videos are terrific. The guy is fast, can't argue that. Maybe he'll impress enough to get a spot somewhere.
Morning Wood
If he was so fast and great, then why did Denver cut him? They didn't have a running game for about half the season there with everyone on IR. From the Matt Terl Feb 13th article - "...and he spent last season on injured reserve for the Broncos after tearing a ligament in his foot." Thinking Skins
I liked this article, but its a purely offseason article. No real football talk. Nothing more than some stuff to get fans excited. I'm hoping that Aldridge can be the big play back we need on offense, but I'm also concerned that his size and his injury history can limit his effectiveness. Rdskn4Lyf21
The one great part of the offseason is pulling for guys like this to make the team and every now and then one will make some impact.

McDaniels became the new coach and had nothing to see on Aldridge. So they felt, well he has an injury with a torn ligament in his foot. Do we really want to develop him or let him find a new team. They let him go. Am I saying he is great? No! But he has potential to play a key role for our team. Something we have lacked for a while. Explosive athleticism. I think he makes the team in a surprise move. I truly think Betts gets traded (assuming the cap allows it) during training camp. When someone gets injured. stoney26
Is this going to be like "Mix is tall"?I mean.....does he really have a shot to make the roster? really? I actually think one of the backs we picked up does have a real chance of making the team. They are looking for a change of pace back for Portis that can contribute in the return game. Hopefully a more versitile, speedy Rock Cartright.

When someone gets injured. I think one of three things will happen (assuming Aldridge is good and not injured): 1) we cut Rock and keep Portis, Betts, Aldridge 2) we trade Betts and keep Portis, Aldridge, Rock 3) we cut Betts and keep Portis, Aldridge, Rock. But we're not even talking about Dorsey who is also a threat. If he can have an explosive preseason, then we may get rid of both Rock and Betts. I don't see that happening though. Truant
I think Alridge has a good shot to make the team. Denver signed Lamont Jordan, Buckhalter, JJ Arrington this off-season. That goes with Moreno, Hillis, etc. Log jam and they had no film on him. Shanahan contacted Vinny to scoop him up and we claimed him off of waivers. He has the college numbers. He has speed. As a 3rd down back/return specialist he could work. It's been a long time since we had a legitimate homerun threat in the backfield.
CRobi21
My God he's fast! Indeed. I like how the article points out that it's not that he's beating 14 and 15 year olds in a race type situation. It's just how he glides down the field so smoothly, I gotta good feeling about Anthony "Pancakes" Alridge!!
CPortJGibbs89
He is the type of back we have needed for a long time. A guy that can hit the hole and take it the distance at any given moment. Would love to see him try out at punt and kick returns. I will be watching this guy in pre-season.

Hell, he might not even make the team, but nothing wrong with hoping.

Yeah, what he said...for some reason Denver thought it was wise to sign about 13 RBs this off-season.
mnb123
Yeah, what he said...for some reason Denver thought it was wise to sign about 13 RBs this off-season. We have 11 WR's, 13 DB's, 10 LB's, and 9 HB/FB's on the roster right now... They are just trying to find a diamond in the rough, just like we are. Yep. Chances are greater to find a really good player when you have more to choose from.
