And that a ticket costs so much i can't bring family(4) without planning for it now. I used to go as a kid and be on the sidelines as my Dad watched the NBC equipment (way back machine i know) we would stay up all night, watch the game, and stay around till it was all cleaned up (24hours of the best job EVER!) The crowd was responsible for like 2 or 3 delay of games in the 4th quarter. RFK was small, so the noise was really loud because the Skins won. The Skins since moving haven't been a stable organization. Not having a plan, bad free agent moves, poor Cap mangagement, bad draft picks, wasted picks etc have plagued the Skins. I don't think he'd get anywhere near 70K. No way. No friggin' way. I could see him going back to 80K and hiking prices 20% across the board, but no way he'd get down to 70K and make the place loud like Qwest. You'd think he would notice things like the Steelers taking over FedEx/other teams with smaller stadiums having noise advantages, etc. But he's prob more concerned with $$$ than building a dynasty. Two it was expensive as hell to build so tickets are too expensive for the casual fan to attend games. This creates a stadium full of fans who really don't care about the games and when prices get too expensive a stadium full of other teams fans like that Pittsburgh game. Three the owner uses it as a cash cow so beers and dogs run $30, outragious. Four it doesn't compete even when full to other smaller stadiums in terms of noise. Look at Seattles smaller and 100 times louder stadium...that is a home field advantage! hail2skins Posted January 14, 2009 Share Posted January 14, 2009 The Fedex Field experience is among the worst in the NFL. Traffic is a nightmare. Views from more than a few seats aren't as good as watching the game on a 12'' black and white TV. The concession stands take half a quarter of play to get anything purchased and get back to your seat.And, ding, ding............there are TOO MANY seats. the Redskins are suffering from the same problems the Raiders did when they decided to play in the Colisseum in LA. A 99,000 seat stadium left more than enough spots for traveling teams' fans to take over large sections of the stands. If Redskins Stadium was 65,000 seats all those Steeler and Eagle fans wouldn't be able to attend the game and make it feel like a home away from home. Bulldog, I just can't buy the "too many seats" argument. I think there are arguably too many premium seats as compared to other stadiums; however, the real problem seems to be that too many of our supposed "diehard" fans who are STHs choose to only attend a couple of games and sell the rest on Stubhub. Tens of thousands of Steeler fans.....many of which were sitting in the upper and lower bowls..... attending the game when our team was 6-2 was a joke. And don't give me the excuses about it being a night game, the day before the election, etc......sure didn't dissuade the Pitt fans from showing up. Casual fans of anything aren't likely to spend money on an entity of mild interest, that's why they're labeled as casual. We have plenty of hard core fans who don't spend the money on season tix for the simple reason that the gameday experience is no longer worth it. JKC stadium was a relative bargain to build compared to what other NFL owners and taxpayers have spent in decade since the ribbon cutting on the stadium in Landover. It died with NFL dynasties (I'll exclude the Pats cause who knows how much cheating went on.) Too much parity in the league, too much commercialism, too high ticket prices. You leave out the fans who will go bonkers for the ones who will just sit there and do nothing, but can afford the $100+ a seat. Home teams are 3-5 in the playoffs this year; last year they were 5-5.
