Phantasm
I love all kinds of westerns, especially John Wayne. I am slowly trying to collect the DVD of every movie he has ever done, but I've got a long way to go. However, the one John Wayne movie I can't stand is True Grit. Kim Darby's character just grates me to no end. But some of my favorites (the Duke and otherwise): -McLintock! -The Sons of Katie Elder -El Dorado -Rio Lobo -Big Jake -Unforgiven -The Outlaw Josey Wales -Pale Rider -Tombstone -Open Range -The Searchers (probably the only western where John Wayne did not play 'John Wayne', if you get my meaning)

Strandgaard
A Fistful of Dollars For a Few Dollars More The Good, the Bad and the Ugly Once Upon a Time in the West I love the way these movies are shot but it's the music by Ennio Morricone that make them truly great. HighOnHendrix
A Fistful of DollarsFor a Few Dollars More The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly High Plains Drifter my top 4 all time favorites. Clint Eastwood is awesome. I agree, except sub in The Outlaw Josey Wales in the fourth spot. I'm also partial to the Duke, but Clint is my favorite. MattGeorge85
High Plains Drifter- I can watch that movie anytime. Fistfull of Dollars, or the samurai film Yojimbo which insipired it, hell even Last Man Standing. That formula for a movie just works.

Ax
There's John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, and then everybody else. Some great movies listed here already, so I'll try to add a couple not yet mentioned. For John Wayne, and it's hard to say, especially this week, but:paranoid:The Cowboys. Also, Rooster Cogburn For Clint, I'd add Hang'em High, and Two Mules For Sister Sarah Robert Redford ~ Jeremiah Johnson Dustin Hoffman~Little Big Man Charleton Heston & Brian Keith~ The Mountain Men

AAARedskin
ALL of the spaghetti westerns with Clint Eastwood are great! The movie "Shane" has such a great ending with Shane blowing Jack Palance away in the saloon. "Silverado" was another great western.
Rocky21
Seriously, the 4 greatest westerns ever made (in no particular order) are: The Wild Bunch Rio Bravo Once Upon A Time In The West The Searchers All were mentioned except The Wild Bunch - Sam Peckinpah's masterpiece. I think everyone that posted in this thread would like this move. Why not put all of the above in the Netflix queue. You won't be sorry.
