Not Winning by Alot Could be Hurting our Playoff Chances

Margin of victory is the 9th division tiebreaker.

Strength of victory is not how many points you beat teams by. It is the winning percentage of the teams you beat.

Margin of victory indirectly comes into play in your points scored for and against ranking, but that is the 7th divison tiebreaker, and not worth gameplanning for.

Everybody knows that a win is a win. But what people dont uderstand is how the league determines seeding, placement, etc for the playoffs. Margin of victory is one of the things used to make this determination in case of tie-brakers. The way it looks now, we are walking a thin line from becoming a 1st seed (with a bye-week and homefield) or a wild-card (with no bye and all road games). Bottom line is that we actually do NEED to win by larger point margins.

WOW! Dude relax man, points scored per game almost never comes into to play when deciding anything for the playoffs> Try, who has the best division record? Teams that you beat to have the edge in the tie breaker if it comes to that.

Just say you would like to see us score more points, that's all! To start a thread on this is "AMAZING", and not to mention not really understanding, that it is way to early to even be thinking about that right now. We just need to keep winning and we're in the playoff "NO MATTER HOW MANY POINTS WE SCORE PER GAME" GEEE WIZ!

You're out of your mind. When was the last time any playoff seeding was determined by margin of victory? It's not even one of the first 10 methods used. You know why? Because it doesn't mean anything.

This is hilarious. Points don't come into play until the fifth tie breaker. I've been following the NFL for over forty years and I don't recall a single instance where points scored was a factor in determining a playoff spot. Sure it could happen but it never has as far as I know and the odds are 1,000,000,000,000,000,000:1 against it. If it gets down to that we don't deserve to go anyway.
