Do we know how bad the injuries to Moss & Portis are? (Merged)

Good Lord! From the wind knocked out of him to having a high ankle sprain. They aren't even closely related! Come on, people!

General consensus (from sane people) think that he'll be fine with the extra day of rest. I think so, too.

i didn't say he had a high ankle sprain, i just said he sprained it and that it MIGHT be a high...or it's just as likely it could be low..obviously since he came back i'd think it's low, but knowing how gutsy portis is he might have just willed his way back into the game...but yeah, please dont say santana got a cramp because the only people saying that are those who've probably never played sports before

Cramp? Wind knocked out of him? Come on guys....

Santana pulled his hammy like every year..and anyone who's ever pulled a hammy knows those can linger for a while (i.e. Laron Landry in preseason). Leaving him out against Pitt I think is definitely going to be a big consideration with the bye coming up..Gee, maybe that's why you need other offensive weapons instead of wearing the guy out like a beat up car...75% of passing game, and now you want to put him on punt returns...geeze man

and portis clearly turned his ankle...you could even see him after he went to the bench and sit down read his lips he said something like 'i rolled my ankle' or something along those lines...now if it's a high sprain, that sucks bigtime...a low one and we got lucky...

speaking of injuries, what the heck is up with Samuels????????????????? Heyer cannot block campbell's back side worth jack and is going to get him killed..lost one fumble today from backside and was alomst going to be 2

Portis had the wind knocked out of him, and he came back in, so I think he's fine.

Moss is the concern. He's had a ton of hammy problems in the past, and he relies on speed and quickness, so that'll be something to keep an eye on if he practices this week how he's able to cut and turn on the jets.

these are the guys that would call into sportstalk radio and complain even if we were 8-0

Portis came back into the game which is very ingeraging, however; it was very obvious today that Portis is not the back when he doesn't practice. That is what I'm more concerned about right now. Can he and will he practice this week?

Encouraging. E-N-C-O-U-R-A-G-I-N-G.

Have you ever had a muscle cramp? You can't walk.

Slight tweak or strain is my guess.

With a cramp, the whole muscle locks up is an excruciating way, and you have to force it/stretch it in order for it to unlock.

They were stretching and massaging him in a way that you don't stretch a cramp.

Yes, I've had muscle cramps in my leg on a number of occasions, and you can still walk, but you have a hitch or limp in your gait, which is exactly what we saw with Moss. It was a cramp, nothing more. You don't stretch a strain, dude.

As a registered massage therapist.... you have that backwards.

You stretch out a cramp... you DO NOT stretch out a strain. A strain is a tear... you stretch that... you injury it. You stretch out a cramp.... which is an involuntary painful muscle contraction.

Just for all those clowns who said I was being a pessimist or just being negative for no reason regarding the moss/portis injuries. Or trying to say I didn' tknow what I was talking about - as if i wanted them to be injured or something.

Moss did in fact pull a hammy, and if you watch the post-game locker room interviews on redskins.com portis said he got a 'high ankle' sprain..

obviously how things go this week will prove whether they play on monday night, but those hammys can be real delicate injuries...and the high ankle aint fun either.

looks like we are really beat up since it's the middle of the season...thank God for the bye...though i must say my biggest concern right now is samuels...if he is not in there consistently, people are going to go after heyer bigtime...which means we'll probably have to chip more often or keep an extra blocker in to help out

My guess is that Moss will miss a few games ... good opportunity to get Devin some balls.

Losing Moss would be a tremendous blow to the team. We will have a difficult time passing, especially downfield, and the Steelers and Cowboys will be able to stack the box to help stopping CP. Devin needs to learn how to run his routes and then start producing in games. We desperately need someone else to step up as a big threat to hedge against injuries like this to Moss, and to free Moss from double coverage all day. Until that happens, I don't see us having much success with Moss out. Sure, there were games when he didn't do much and we still got a win, but he was drawing a lot of attention and opening up the rest of the field. Unfortunately, these little hammy tweaks have in the past, going back to his Jets days, lingered and really hampered him.
