Barack Obama's presidential campaign has found an interesting new way to reach young voters: Campaign ads in the Madden video game.

TheHill.com reports that Obama has purchased space in Madden NFL 09. If you're playing the game on your Xbox you might see an Obama sign in the stands or an Obama billboard outside the stadium. Players will only see the ads if they're playing online in one of the 10 swing states that the campaign is targeting: Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Indiana, Montana, North Carolina, New Mexico, Nevada, Ohio and Wisconsin.

  • The ads started running last week and will be visible until the day before Election Day. In addition to Madden, Obama has bought ads in nine other EA video games: Burnout Paradise, NASCAR 09, NHL 09, NBA Live 08, Need For Speed: Carbon, Need For Speed: ProStreet, NFL Tour, and Skate.

That's pretty funny. I guess they will make money any way that they can, and Obama has plenty of cash. I think the next step would be for Madden and Al Michaels to start doing stupid plugs like they do on the real Sunday Night Football. Like you would call a timeout and be choosing a play, and Al Michael's would start talking about Christian Slater's new TV show, or Madden would talk about Boom! Tough actin' Tinactin!

...actually, what would be cool is that if you were playing Madden online during Election Day, that Al Michaels would remind you to go out and vote.

McCain though isn't to be underestimated. He's going after the porno vote.

Seems kind of odd for the conservative party to be putting ads on porn sites. They were the ones to get their panties in a bunch after Janet Jackson showed a boob that noone could really see.

Even if I wasn't going to vote for Obama, I'd have to marvel at the smarts, creativity and ability to think outside the box he and his campaign staff has continually shown throughout this process. If he wins and continues this trend during his term(s) as POTUS, he could end up being one of the great ones.
