suze109
Even as a 'Boys fan, I've always liked Lavar. Even though he put that career ending hit on Aikman?
DiscoBob
It was that stupid contract that we offered him that was the beginning of the end. He wasn't worth what they gave him, but they paid him because he was the face of the franchise.... If they would have played hardball and signed him to something more reasonable, I think things would have gone better. It would have helped too if he had stayed on G. Williams good side.... E33Green
What kind of shots did you take?????? That was my first thought after reading the OP. The answer is critical to accepting Lavar back to the Skins community. If you guys were shooting some type of whiskey or tequila, that's badass. What kind of shot did you send to LA? What kind of shot did he buy you guys? :logo: :point2sky
Roger.Staubach
Even though he put that career ending hit on Aikman? Yes. Even though he put that career ending hit on Aikman. Now, if it had been a cheap shot...or if he had celebrated like "Philly Fans" after the play, I wouldn't remember him so fondly. However, I remember the hit. It was a clean play and I am sorry it happened. But he sure as heck was blazing as he entered the TV screen on that play. That was one fast and explosive dude. Maybe they could have reached out a tad bit more to Lavar, but they seemed content to let their assistants make the personnel decisions. I am sorry, but no one in their right mind could ever convince me that Highway 57 was a better fit at WLB than Lavar. The way they made him sit the bench while the team lost games and got continually run over i will never forget. Oh well, the past is the past, and it didn't help that Lavar was getting shotty advice from a money-grubbing agent. Damn I hate thinking about that. redman
Yeah, what a great guy. Too bad we didn't draft him and pay him to drink shots with everyone. Clearly he was in the wrong scheme.

I think both the episode with Lindsey and his cost prohibitive contract (which precipitated his and his agents future problems) were deal breakers. It's hard to imagine if it could have been salvaged if one of those two situations didn't happen.... I do think, however, that during the whole situation with Lindsey, if the fans knew exactly how it all played out, they may likely have sided with Lindsey.... BAFGA
That is awesome. I always wanted to do that with some of the old school players like Sonny or Billy Kilmer. The stories they can tell you would be hilarious.
CM916
He earned my respect back even before the funeral. The guy clearly regrets everything that happened and he wants to spend the rest of his life in DC near the Redskins. I'm going to have to check out his restaraunt next time I'm in the area. worstSeat
He is a real down to earth easy going guy which I've heard. Good to see LA... Sounds like he also knows how to run a bar. This thread is good LaVar pub, don't ya think?
letzgoterps
Unrelated to the story but, does have relation to LA:It is weird ( a good weird if that makes any sense) how this fanbase seems to be opening back up to Arrington. He seemed to be on everyones :pooh: list for a while there. Ever since ST's funeral and the speech that LA gave.. it seems to be all turning around for him. I am not advocating that the Skins should sign the guy (I am doubtful that he can even play anymore) but rather stating that it is good for the whole ordeal that happened in the past to be swept under the rug. Myself? I am still a tad bitter of his actions at that time (whether provoked or not). I wish it could have been dealt with in a different manner. However, it is in the past and both sides (Skins and Lavar) seem to be doing quite alright since. Sounds like a great idea. I never liked how LaVar was treated, but have always liked him as a person and as a player. Sadly, Vinny was on Redskins Radio a while back and the question was posed to him about possibly bringing LaVar back and Vinny said there is NO chance of it happening. : / Sounds like there's still a lot of bad blood there on management's end. I wish LaVar good luck though with his restaurant and any possible future football considerations.
tone_dubbz
I wish Lavar would have stayed a Skin. I know injuries are hard to avoid, but we could have done something to keep him here. I know Lavar is a cool, stand up guy. It would have been cool to take a shot with him. What were y'all drinking on?

The evidence speaks for itself, you don't go from being a pallbearer for the owners father to being totally dismissed. I am quite sure Snyder tried to pull one over, LaVar and the agents caught it, Snyder got pissed and alienated him. I mean if Snyder is so crude to send a plasma TV to a player lord can only think what else the militant midget might do. Sorry I believe LaVar over the front office. :2cents:
Taiwan32
So me and 2 others went to FEDEX Field yesterday for a networking convention. After the business was done we went over to Sidelines which is Lavar's sports bar. 30 minutes after were there eating and drinking LA shows up and goes over to his VIP section. I wanted to say whats up sp bad but I didn't want to bother him. So my bizz partner asks the bartender to give us 3 shots and one for Lavar. I'm thinking he is gonna laugh at us. She goes over and tells Lavar that we bought him a drink and next thing you know 5 minutes later I feel a hand on my shoulder behind me and its Lavar. He walked up to us around everyone at the bar like he just knew us as friends. We all shook hands and toasted a shot together and drank it down. Then Lavar says bartender give these guys another round on me please. It was great. Then before we left he waived us over to his VIP section and we went over and talked with him with him and his buddies. He is a real down to earth easy going guy which I've heard. Good to see LA... I haven't made it out to Sidelines yet, but Lavar still lives in Annapolis and is a great guy. He's out all the time around here
