Which WRs will be cut?

I'd keep these guys and cut everyone else. We have plenty of other receiving threats including Cooley and Fred Davis. We need Thrash for Special Teams and experience.

89 Moss, Santana

82 Randle El, Antwaan

Thomas, Devin

Kelly, Malcolm

83 Thrash, James

I want to say ONE THING

I ASKED ZORN TODAY - at the draft day party

HE told me "MIX WILL GET A CHANCE"

So I do not see him cutting Mix

What did you expect him to say? You're a fan and the man is busy. That was really nice and cool he spoke to you though.

we cant cut thrash.. hes too important too special teams.. and hes a core redskin, not to mention he has alot of character

AGREED. I said the EXACT same thing.

Not sure who all will still be here at WR, but gotta think we go 6 WRs due to the fact we will run a West Coast-type offense

No way. They're going to keep 3 TEs and Vinny's said they're looking for a backup FB, so they're going to keep 2 FBs as well as 3 RBs. There's no need to keep 6 WRs when Davis and Cooley can both flex out. Only way they keep 6 WRs is if they decided to only go with 2 QBs.

Which may be our best option with the unknowns at WR. If we need a #3 on game day, we put ARE in. Then we sign an old FA to finish up our miserable, unholy season. Unless Zorn, a QB "guru", is enamored with a late round prospect tomorrow.

Well if you think that, then he's definitly gone. We know what happens to anyone that gets called a Core Redskins. They end up leaving for greener pastures.

This is a West Coast offense, so we will have 6 WRs on the roster.

Moss, ARE, D Thomas, and Kelly are essentially locks. Zorn has said many times Mix will get a shot, and I'm taking him at his word. Thrash has actual experience in the WCO from playing in Philly, and is an excellnt special teams contributor.

Mathis, on the other hand, was signed for the vet. min., to be a return man. However, you now have Thomas who can do that, and Mathis was going to have to compete against Rock for KR duty anyways. Rock will most likely be KR this season, with Thomas backing him up. Thomas might get a nod in punt return, but ARE for now still has that job and Thrash is still the back up there too.

To sum it up, Mathis is the most expendable, and will probably be the one who is cut.

80 Mann, Maurice WR 6-1 190 1 Nevada 09-14-1982

18 Toler, Burl WR 6-2 185 1 California 04-07-1983

13 Mathis, Jerome WR 5-11 184 3 Hampton 07-26-1983

16 McMullen, Billy WR 6-4 215 4 Virginia 03-08-1980

Yes Mathis, even though he is new

this is what I'm thinking. We all love Thrash, but Zorn is not looking at the roster with the sentimentality that a fan may be.

If Mathis tears it up on KO's, he could be kept as well.

We only keep Thrash I think if we have 6 WR's on the roster, with his offense there is a chance of that.

Definitly going to be Moss and ARE + the two new guys.

Mix, Thrash, and Mathis will compete for the 5th spot. They're all primarily been used as special teams guys. In this, I have to think Mix takes it.

1. Younger than Thrash

2. Less Injury prone than Mathis

3. Proved himself on Special Teams coverage last year

4. Kick off return special teams isn't a concern anymore. Rock, Thomas, and ARE all there. Mathis and Thrash being kick returners isn't a benifit to them anymore

So I say Mix takes the 5th spot

My thinking as well. Mathis vs. Mix vs. Thrash. And it will come down to who helps on ST more. What a wonderful thing to be having a debate about who our #5 WR is. Last year, these guys would have been battling for our #3 WR!!!

I agree. Thrash is a sold #3 reciever. He bailed us out a couple times last year and always goes full out. He is definitely worth keeping.

why does everyone seem to forget that he can actually play receiver when given the chance. Does anyone remember the Philly game last year?

Here's my questions: Is the writing on the wall for ARE???

Look at the evidence:

1) We bring in a punt returner as our only FA signing.

2) We draft two WRs in the 2nd round, a potential slot guy and an extra (hopefully) big play WR.

3) ARE is getting PAID like a madman, has not really produced as we have hoped (at least in the return game), and has had injury problems.

Is ARE on his way out???

This will be who is left. Lets not forget the team will most likely be carrying 3 TE's now that the skins drafted another TE. Yoder will be kept for blocking situations (ie short-yardage, extra pass protection).

13 Mathis, Jerome WR 5-11 184 3 Hampton 07-26-1983

89 Moss, Santana WR 5-10 200 7 Miami (Fla.) 06-01-1979

82 Randle El, Antwaan WR 5-10 190 6 Indiana 08-17-1979

Kelly, Malcolm WR 6'4" 218 Oklahoma

Thomas, Devin WR 6'2" 215 Michigan State

Mix and Thrash will probably be put on PS

Thrash cant be put on the PS squad

I know this isn't popular but I would choose to move Randle El... He has a bigger salary than his skill set at WR would indicate...

I would keep Kelly, Thomas, Moss, Mix, Thrash(Special Teamer), and even keep Mathis as Return Specialist if he's healthy...

If Moss and ARE continue to miss practice and game time with nagging injuries, they could one or both be gone within the next 1-3 years.

1. Moss

2. ARE

3. Thomas

4. Kelly

5. Mix

That's our WR group. The rest will be cut, with some of the younger guys possibly on the practice squad.

Agreed. I think Thrash may be kept around as a number 6. But honestly I think his time is about done here. It's time to get the young guys playing and learning and growing with JC.
