tr1
Two O-Linemen Signed to Practice Squad By Gary Fitzgerald http://www.redskins.com/news/newsDetail.jsp?id=30347 Redskins, com October 16, 2007 The Redskins have signed offensive linemen Calvin Armstrong and Kevin Sampson to the practice squad, the team announced on Tuesday. To make room for Armstrong and Sampson, the team released offensive lineman Kili Lefotu and fullback Brian Bell from the practice squad. Both Armstrong and Sampson worked out for team officials on Tuesday morning. They are expected to be available for practice on Wednesday as the team prepares for this Sunday's game against Arizona. Armstrong, 6-7 and 320 pounds, is in his second NFL season out of Washington State and was with the Redskins this past offseason. He was released in the team's final roster cuts on Sept. 1. Armstrong was a sixth-round draft choice by Philadelphia in 2005. He was active for three games during his rookie season, but did not see action. Sampson, 6-4 and 312 pounds, was a seventh-round draft choice out of Syracuse by Kansas City in 2004. Limited by injuries in three seasons with the Chiefs, he has seen action in 16 games with seven starts at right tackle in his career. He was released by Kansas City prior to the start of the regular season and spent two weeks on the Carolina Panthers' practice squad earlier this year. Ax
Yeah, Armstrong was here during the offseason, Sampson played for Saunders. So, both know the system, I presume.

PCRoughrider
Signing them to the practice squad doesn't address the injuries on the 53-man roster, though. EDIT: They could sign one/both of them to the active roster later in the week, after they've seen how the injuries are doing.
Digger
Signing up to be on the right side of our O-line is akin to being the sucker wearing the red shirt in a Star Trek episode or a teenager having sex in a slasher movie. I’m tempted to start yelling out “Dead man walk’n!” whenever I see a right OG or right OT in burgundy and gold. I wish them luck.

Why? They can activate them anytime. EDIT: Nevermind...I see you edited your post.
RDSKNfaithfull
Signing them to the practice squad doesn't address the injuries on the 53-man roster, though. It sounded more like Gibbs is worried about getting through practice. Rest the Wade and Rabach and let these young guys take the field so we can at least field a second team O line in practice. KelvinBryant
Keep in mind that being able to conduct a practice is a huge deal, too, that affects the entire team. I have a feeling that Rabach will play this weekend, and that Wade will be availble by the Pats game.

Soup
Armstrong had problems the preseason and the other guy is like taylor jacobs where he looks good but has a history of injuries and so-so play in games. I hope Bugel has this under control. I don't worry about the cards but the pats can really do harm to Campbell.

Neophyte
Alright...so what is the deal with Lefotu? From reading this thread seems maybe something legal but I am not familiar with whatever it is.
nightbird
Alright...so what is the deal with Lefotu? From reading this thread seems maybe something legal but I am not familiar with whatever it is. He got drunk at a bar in Ashburn and there was a physical altercation. Bacon
We signed Indiana University's men's basketball coach? I surprised we haven't thrown Bugel out there yet. He knows the system.
HEavyJumbo85
These guys were signed because we needed guys that could play tackle in practice. Even if Heyer and Wade are going to be able to play come sunday, they won't be able to practice all week and we wouldn't want to kick Fabini out there to Tackle in practice if he's gonna be playing guard in the game. Signing these guys means that the coaches are expecting Wade to play sunday even thought he can't practice.
