Eerily similar to 05 Mon. Night vs Cowboys

After the Redskins got the ball back, trailing 13-7, I looked at my then girlfriend and told her...if the Redskins find a way to pull out this game, we will be in the playoffs. Unless you happened to stumble on extremeskins looking for porn, you know what game Im referring to, and what two key plays Im referring to.

The Redskins, although not pretty or smooth, got into the playoffs in 2005 and as it turns out, winning that game was crucial for the Skins and helped us get in.

Well, here we are again...sitting at 1-0 with an on the road, division rival, Monday Night BANGER looming. If the Redskins find a way, I dont care how ugly or pretty, to win this game, I believe the Skins are headed to the playoffs.

Although it is not a must-win game. Of course we can get in to the playoffs if we lose this game, or miss them if we win...

It's just...

Something about that Monday night game...something about this Monday night game...that sets the tone.

Come out of this game a winner and the organization, the media, the fans...theyll know the Skins are here to play this season...lose, and plenty of question marks will remain.

Lets answer the questions now, lets win this game...

and lets make the playoffs two out of the last three seasons.

The predictions, emotions, settings, and 1-0 record is eerily similar...

Will the result be?:logo:

I agree...to get a division win ON THE ROAD will make all the difference.

And your'e right, it's nto a MUST WIn, but to take this game would be huge! I think we are playing the eagles at the right time too. McNabb is not 100% and they could not do much against a bad Packer Defense.

The difference in this game could/should be special teams...if we can get ARE to break one to score or at least set up a score...

The Eagles are reeling with their return game...we neeed HIGH punts by frost to make the Eagle's return manto "think about it" while calling for that fair catch.

You hit the nail on the head for me. I have the same exact same feeling.

I know we SHOULD loose this game... but I also have the feeling that it's not that simple. I feel like the team is starting to get it's identity back, and with it the heart that drove the five game win streak.

Just a feeling, but I like it. :D

I was actually thinking about this exact same thought. This has the same feeling all over it for me as well. No one is giving us a shot in this game, our offense was not great, our D looks pretty good. If we can go up there and find a way to pull this one out I think it will go a long way for this teams confidence. Great post man, I really hope we pull this one out.

I disagree with the OP. The atmosphere heading into the game against Dallas in 2005 was rife with tension and conflict. Gibbs had just named Brunell the starter and was catching a lot of heat for it, by myself and many Redskins fans.

Anyone remember Gibbs during that Friday's press conference leading into the Dallas game? He was very, very stressed.

There was the feeling entering that game that if we lost to Dallas, possibly badly, after having sacked Ramsey in favor of a very unpopular Brunell then the whole season was lost.

This game is big but doesn't have that severe an element of tension and conflict.

To True' date=' To True, I wouldn't sleep early on this game. But who's going to be the new santana moss? Caldwell?[/quote']

How about Santana Moss?

I'll take a win any way we can get it. A W here would be huge for this season and for this franchise. I don't want to get ahead, but....can you imagine what the Giants game will be like the week after if we come up with a win in Philly.

It gives me chills.

You know, I like what Portis said after last week's game. He told the media to leave us on the bottom of the barrel so that we can just come out and play and prove everyone wrong. It was an awesome statement of his character and how much of a Redkin he is that it gave me shivers.

I really want for us to go to the SB this year so bad. I hope CP's words are proven this year. :applause:

 I agree. I heard these comparisons going into last year's week 2 Sunday nighter.

I agree with you 110%. I know its only week 2, but I think this game defines our season. We win this game, we will make playoffs. We lose this game, we don't.

This is crazy talk.

As long as we're in it, as long as we look like a team that's competing... we're never out of the playoff hunt until it's mathematically impossible. To think otherwise is weak, and just giving up way too easily.

Sure, this game can be a huge confidence-booster... but if we lose, it'll only affect us as badly as we allow it to.

I said it in another thread, and I'll say it again here... I feel like we may lose the next two games in close, gut-wrenching losses, go into the bye week with a bitter taste in our mouths and come out on fire. Noone will stop us afterwards.

You heard it here first. For the second time. :D

If we win, the media won't love us. They'll love McNabb and the Eagles and feel sorry for McNabb's knee. Let's not get overboard. The media flat out disrespects us over and over again.

Easiest example... Eagles lost to GB in a game they should have won by 16-13. Redskins won to Miami in a game they should have lost by 16-13. NO RESPECT. That's how they really look at it. Eagles have a QB who's been injured for years and hasn't finished a season in forever. We've been building for a few years and have a ton of weapons and promise. Instead of the media seeing the Eagles as a team who is aging and falling apart, they see them as angels who will make the SUPER BOWL. That's right, the Super Bowl. Many people have pegged them as the Super Bowl contenders of the NFC. Meanwhile, they don't even notice the Skins or see the strides the Redskins have made. Skins had a hell of a run at the Super Bowl in 2005. In 2006, the Skins rebuilt the offense and struggled on defense. In 2007, the offense is stronger and the Defense is back to it's fame. But where is the media, other than the Washington Post? no where.

And I want it that way. Let em hate. Let them ignore. Let them talk trash. It only makes the Skins play harder.

Ignore the media. There's only a few people out there worth listening to.

This Eagles game WILL define the Skins for the season. But the media just won't care.
