-- Redskins Salary Cap Notes --

Thu Aug 9, 2007 --from FFMastermind.com

The Washington Times reports Redskins first-round draft pick SS LaRon Landry's five-year, $41.5 million contract means he counts $2.16 million against Washington's 2007 salary cap. The cap costs for the rest of the five-man draft class are: fifth-round OLB Dallas Sartz ($331,000), sixth-round LB H.B. Blades ($312,000), sixth-round QB Jordan Palmer ($306,000) and seventh-round TE Tyler Ecker ($300,000). With the $3.41 million rookie pool consumed, the Redskins still have more than $5 million in cap room for an injured reserve fund and to sign players who have been cut by other teams.

Have you noticed that no one mentions cap hell for anyone anymore? The media has finally figured out what the Skins did several years ago. No one has cap issues unless they choose to (see Titans, 49ers, Ravens). If the owner wants to come out of pocket you can do just about anything with the cap.

I assume that you're talking about having salary cap issues. If you've noticed, even going back to our Jack Kent Cooke times, we've never really had problems with the cap. As you said, the media always thinks we're going to have problems because we sign FAs to huge contracts. However, they fail to research how the contracts are structured, and our FO has always done a good job of structuring salaries so that we never really have a problem with the cap. In addition, the cap itself gets bigger and bigger every year, so have issues with it is a thing of the past.

anyone know if we have any high salary useless players coming off our cap number after this year? If so, we could resign cooley and save the rest of the money for FA next year. Then maybe we can bring in a few more solid role players to fill any gaps this year exposes. I'd love to bring in a big possession/number 2 receiver.

they labeled me "no new threads"!!! damn these monitors!! mess up ONE time and you get labeled for life!!

Damn these n00bs that don't bother to read the Rules or the READ ME threads from earlier this week pertaining to NNT & when they are told to review these, they don't. And then they proceed to publicly throw a temper tantrum like a child instead of putting on their Big Boy pants & saying, 'Sorry 'bout that. It won't happen again.' Or something along those lines & having their NNT status resolved as simple as that. And this AFTER it's even been explained to them via PM.
