Jino
On another note, did you know that Shawn Merriman has averaged 1 sack per game over his entire career? That's pretty rediculous IMO.
Wyvern
Offense: Steve Hutchinson (G); Vernon Davis (TE); LeCharles Bentley © Matt Schaub (QB) Defense: Haloti Ngata (DT/NT); Tommie Harris (DT); John Henderson (DT) Julius Peppers (DE); Shaun Rogers (DT); Adewale Ogunleye (DE)
Siven
why are you throwing merriman's name around? he's a 3-4 OLB. you'd want him to play DE for us? cause hes big enough to play 4-3 DE If I could revamp the line Julius Peppers, John Henderson, Griffin and like Richard Seymore. I defy anyone to run on us.

LeCharles Bently? is out and his career will never recover Matt Schaub? Based on what? one wonder game against the Patriots? Sorry, I'd take Tom Brady, the consumate winner. Juniorbandit
We could always do the same elimination system that was used to pick the greatest redskin. If anyone is interested I'll start it off. Here are the rules: --EACH time you vote you must subtract FIVE points from ONE player. You must then add FIVE points to ONE player. --DO THE MATH CORRECTLY. Each time you vote, make sure you list the players' NEW scores and that you have deleted the previous person's +/- marks. --ONLY vote once every TEN posts Julius Pepper (40) Shawn Merriman (40) Chad Johnson (40) Champ Bailey (40) LaVar Arrington (40) LeCharles Bently (40) Steve Hutchinson (40) Vernon Davis (40) Matt Shaub (40) Haloti Ngata (40) Tommi Harris (40) John Henderson (40) Shaun Rogers (40) Adewale Ogunleye (40) Jason Taylor (40) Steve Smith (40) Peyton Manning (40) All the players were just ones mentioned already in this forum. Have fun.
Birdlives
If you could have one player on any team to fill one of our holes, who would it be? Please don't answer with Peyton Manning or LT. Fill an area of need with a superstar (ie. Julius Peppers or Champ Bailey) and want to see what the outcome of filling that need would do to our makeup of the team.My pick would be Shawn Merriman or Steve Smith. What do you guys think? Payton Manning Right, because we're all set at QB. My vote goes to Peyton Manning because he would fill an area of need and he's the best football player in the league and one of the best to play the position, ever! I like JC a lot and hope he works out, but he is by no means a lock at the most important position on the team....yet! Imagine if this season our defense gets back into its top ten form and Portis stays healthy, but Campbell struggles his 'sophmore' year. You'd be wishing we had Manning far more than Merriman, although Merriman is a monster. But I dont think he'd excell in a 43 defense like he has in a 34, and he's a cheater. Reading comprehension is your friend. Seriously, it's not that tough.

JRAB
Clearly DL is a huge need still. I'd love to have a strongside DE like Peppers. At weakside DE you'd have to love a guy like Merriman or Demarcus Ware. Both of those guys played DE in college and have the size to do so in the NFL. They are the two best young pass rushers in the NFL IMO. At DT, Stroud would be my pick because we already have a smaller, quicker guy like Tommie Harris in Griffin (although he's starting to get old). If we didn't already have Griff... I'd probably pick Harris. If I had to pick just one, which would be tough to narrow it down... I think I'd take Merriman and take my chances on him making the transition to DE. He just has an edge to his play that Peppers doesn't quite have. :2cents:

JRAB
brady, carson palmer, drew brees, julius peppers, champ bailey.in that order if we can't pick manning. Yeah, I agree with Brady, no brainer. Still, in the spirit of what the thread starter was asking I went with another position besides QB. Still, in the real world if this were asked and we couldn't choose Manning, then I'd likely go with Brady or Palmet too.

Hiro
Richard Seymour. He's effective at rushing the passer, and can completely shut down the run on his side. We already have Andre Carter to rush the passer.
