PFT : Davis wants $23 million guarenteed

So what would everyone think if Davis is given a 6 yr/40million dollar contract?

If Davis can lose 30 Lbs, decrease his percent body fat, and work with Bugel he has unlimited potential. It has become apparent to me in recent years that if an o lineman isn't using proper technique and in tip top shape then his play suffers tremedously. Samuels had a couple of down years when Kim Helton was the o line coach. He sopke about how Bugel turned his technique and game back around. If Davis has the size, strength, and athleticism then Buges should be able to turn his game around to. Davis is still realtively young and could have his best years ahead of him. The only thing we can hope is that he isn't all about money and wants to come here because of Buges, Campbell, and the offensive scheme because we can't afford his asking price.

GIANTS, COWBOYS, REDSKINS DOING DAVIS DANCE

Three teams in the NFC East are positioning themselves to possibly sign offensive lineman Leonard Davis. Specifically, the Giants, Cowboys, and Redskins are in the mix for the six-year veteran.

But each team has designs on him at different positions. In New York, he'd likely be the replacement for Luke Petitgout at left tackle. In Washington, Davis would likely step in at left guard for Derrick Dockery, who signed with the Bills on Friday. In Dallas, Davis would be the new right tackle, taking over for Marc Colombo.

The problem, as we mentioned earlier on Saturday, is that Davis supposedly wants $23 million in guaranteed money. It's a hugh amount, but not out of line in light of the huge amounts paid to guys like Eric Steinbach, Derrick Dockery, and Kris Dielman. Among the three of them, there are a grand total of ZERO Pro Bowl appearances.

ZERO.

But, as we always say, a player is worth precisely what someone will pay him. The fact that Steinbach and Dockery and Dielman have found their pots of gold doesn't mean that Davis will. Nevertheless, to the extent that these three signings are evidence of what the market currently is for second-tier offensive linemen, Davis is at least in the ballpark.

I actually would not doubt the guy is asking for this but he has to know it is not going to happen. I think he can get a deal similar to what Dock and Steinbach got which is left tackle money. Us signing Samuels to an extension last offseason appears to be a bargain at this point.

not sure if youve actually sign leonard davis before but he is not some fat lineman. this guy is actually pretty lean for that kind of size and by looking at a picture of him he is just a big, strong guy. the weight he is at is where he is going to stay, because the guy is not fat.
