So, I call on you loyal extremeskins.

My brothers feel that Chris Cooley doesnt deserve a pro-bowl nod because he "isn't a fullback."

Can you a) Define the H-back position and B) think of some evidence as to why he is more of a fullback than a tight end.

:gaintsuck

he is a fullback becasue when they line up for the play, he is standing right in front of portis, in the fullback position, if he went up at the start of every play and stood next to one of the tackles, then he would be a tight end. It doesn't matter where he goes when he's in motion, even if he goes in motion and stops next to the tackle, he still came there from the fullback spot. He just doesn't take handoffs up the gut, instead he goes in motion and catches touchdown passes, which is something that other fullbacks do, although not nearly as often as cooley does.

He is called an H-back, or hybrid back, because he lines up like a fullback, but his in-play responsibilities are what you would normally attribute to a tight end, and the normal fullback duties are redistributed to other players.

I have no problem of Manning going ahead of Brunell.

At this point, they're top dog and he is a big reason why.

I would like to see MW, SS, ST, Moss, and Portis make it.

Randy Thomas was probably our most consistent O-lineman, so

he couldn't go anyway at this point.

What really makes Cooley great is the fact that he's the best tight end in the league right now with the ball in his hands. No one is close to him in yards after the catch at his position. Hell, he's EIGHTH in the LEAGUE in that category with 394 yards after the catch. Gates has two more yards but 18 more catches. Cooley is amazing in that he rarely goes down on first contact.

And here is the proof.

Casting Call

Record 70.5 million All-Star votes cast

Record 1.9 million mobile votes cast via Sprint Wireless

Manning receives record 1.18 million votes

(Dec. 19, 2005) -- Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning received a record 1,184,142 votes to lead NFL All-Stars in balloting for the 2006 Pro Bowl, the NFL announced. Presented by Sprint, Pro Bowl voting on NFL.com, in stadiums and via the Sprint wireless service ended Dec. 16.

There were a record 70.5 million votes cast on NFL.com and via the Sprint wireless service -- a 16 percent increase over the 61 million cast last year.

In the tally was a record 1.9 million mobile votes via Sprint wireless -- nearly 200 times the 10,000 mobile votes cast last year.

Seattle Seahawks running back Shaun Alexander (1,110,575 votes) ranked second overall while San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson (1,044,360), Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson (987,650) and Chargers tight end Antonio Gates (941,846) rounded out the top five.

The teams will be announced at 4 p.m. (ET) on Wednesday, Dec. 21, on the 2006 Pro Bowl Selection Show on ESPN. The Pro Bowl will be played in Hawaii on Sunday, Feb. 12, and televised by ESPN.

In addition to casting ballots on NFL.com and in stadiums, fans cast their Pro Bowl ballot by sending a text message via Sprint wireless to vote for their favorite players at each position.

Fans who voted for their Pro Bowl players were able to enter for a chance to win a trip to the Pro Bowl in the 2006 NFL Pro Bowl Sweepstakes presented by Sprint. The Grand Prize includes an all-expense-paid trip to the game in Honolulu as well as exclusive experiences such as the chance to meet and talk football with Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway, attend practice, take a tour of Aloha Stadium, obtain pregame sideline passes and more.

The AFC and NFC All-Star squads are made up of the consensus votes of fans, players and coaches. Each group's vote counts one-third towards determining the 43-man rosters that represent the American Football Conference and National Football Conference in the Pro Bowl. NFL players and coaches will cast their votes on Dec. 19-20.

The NFL is the only sports league that combines voting by fans, coaches and players to determine its all-star teams. It was the first professional sports league to offer online all-star voting in 1995. Listed below are the top 10 offensive and defensive vote-getters, the top 10 wireless vote-getters, the top five rookie vote-getters, and the players with the most votes at each position:

Marcus Washington better make it again. He has been the defensive leader and has not missed any time. He is a beast on every down. 18th in tackles and 16th in sacks, 2 FF and 1 int. Great numbers overall for a LB. Urlacher has more tackles but has no ints and only 1 FF and fewer sacks and he is supposed to be the best this year on that defense with a great DL as well.

Portis should be the 3rd RB also since nobody else is close to his yards and scores for the #3. Nothing else to say.

Moss doesn't have the stats for receiver other than yards but they must consider that the Arizona receivers numbers came due to their team always being down and no running game. Moss has actually had an unbelievable season considering everything like no real #2 receiver and a mostly rushing offense. He is #5 in receptions, #2 in yards and #9 in TD's even though that one in the Dallas game would have put him tied for 6 if they had counted it. He has great numbers for a player in his first season here in an offense that several other receivers wanted out of. He also benefits from Brunell not looking at other alternatives.

Brunell actually has the 2nd best passer stats since Bulger hasn't played in weeks and was #2 previously. Brunell has actually put up career numbers this year since fumbles dont count, but they dont count for the other QB's either like Bledsoe who has fumbled 2x as much. No other QB is even close, Brunell should be in the Pro Bowl and also comeback player of the year surprisingly.

If Griffen hadn't missed a few games he should go too. He is probably the most important player on the defense right now. When Griffen is in the defense is 100% better against the run, that means alot but doesn't get noticed by the 'tards at ESPN since they pick games based on last weeks games and the solar pattern of several large bright things in the sky during the week.

Parcells has obstructed their view twice this year before facing the Redskins by breaking blue glow sticks and pouring the contents all over himself while attaching himself to a long string.

Unanimously they picked the Cowboys over the Redskins both times for a total of 16 miscalculations in those games.
