I've seen the movie and honestly I wasn't impressed. So with that said what is it with Ahrry Porter, why is this book so popular. I have people at my job talking about WAITING IN LINE our side of Borders until midnight just to be the first to get the book. I'm saying to myself, "aren't you going to be too tired to read it anyway"?

There was a funny joke on Conan last night about this Harry Potter craze. It was something like :

"Many adults across the country are ready to hold parties for the release of the new Harry Potter book midnight Friday night. Even Star Wars fans said, 'That's pathetic!'"

:notworthy

I will add that the author, who was living in a car before she started writing the books, is a little greedy and does not like Americans.

From an all British cast for the movies too her numerous comments in public have convinced me that she just does not like Americans.

I've read a few. They are well written and, being that I'm an adult, I can pretty much finish one in a few hours. Good reading material for the airplane. We're not talking world class novels here, obviously, but then again, some of you probably watch reality t.v., so who are you to judge?:)

Whoa, I can read pretty fast too, but thhe latest ones have been over 800 pages!

a few hours?

And by the way they are damn good, allthough the last one got on my nerves a lot becasue Harry kept acting like whining brat. Still the action scenes at the end and the humor and mysteries and all thev other good stuff in the book made up for it.

Just finished listening to it again on CD last night. It's good to listen to it besides just reading it, really makes it a whole new experiance. The narrator does such a good job with all the voices too.

Well, I'm 40 and I couldn't stand all the Harry Potter mania of the past few years. I couldn't understand all the hoopla over a kids book. I thought it was crazy that people would stand in line at midnight for a book. I laughed or shook my head everytime I saw or heard someone talking about Harry Potter....

Then about a year ago, I couldn't sleep and watched the first Harry Potter movie on cable and liked it. I later watched the second Harry Potter movie and also liked it.

I decided I would read the first two books to see how they jived with the movies.

Well, as you can guess I was hooked. I proceeded to read the next three. The last book was always checked out of the library so I bought it.

I have to admit I've been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the 6th book.

I won't be in line at Midnight tonight waiting to get it. (I have one on reserve), but I will be walking in sometime Saturday to pick mine up.

E-mail errors leave Potter fans fuming

Jul 15, 12:17 PM (ET)

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Perhaps the evil wizard Lord Voldemort had something to do with it.

Customers who preordered the eagerly anticipated sixth installment of the "Harry Potter" saga on Amazon.com (http://amazon.com) and walmart.com (http://walmart.com) were in for a shock this week when the retailers mistakenly e-mailed them to say their books might arrive later than expected.

"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" is slated for release early on Saturday, and both Web sites had promised anxious customers that their books would arrive that day. The U.S. publisher of J.K. Rowling's book said some 10.8 million copies were printed.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. rushed to calm shoppers' worries and put a recorded message on walmart.com's toll-free customer service number assuring customers that the books would arrive on July 16 as promised.

"If you are calling in reference to the Harry Potter release notification that you received on July 12 that indicated the release date had been changed to July 20, please be advised that the e-mail was sent in error," the message says.

Amazon.com e-mailed customers to say its notice that books might be delayed "was sent to you in error."

"We sincerely apologize for the concern we caused with this incorrect message, and hope you will be thrilled to know that we've begun preparing your order for shipment and we are confident that it will be delivered on Saturday, July 16," the e-mail to customers reads.

Amazon.com spokeswoman Patricia Smith said a few thousand customers mistakenly received the notices.

"It was a complete goof on our end," Smith said. "I don't know if it was human error or computer error, but the bottom line is, it was an error."

Still, some fans weren't convinced their books would arrive quickly enough.

"I got one of those e-mails," reads one post on fan Web site mugglenet.com. "I'm getting a second copy at midnight just in case, because if it doesn't arrive I'm canceling my transaction. I'm still furious."
