Yet for some reason changing the manner our votes count, which whether for good or bad reasons is the very basis for the design of our government, makes more sense than revisiting some arbitrary lines that were drawn before had any clue what physical size we'd become.

I'd rather see a massive redrawing of state lines before a switch to just pure popular vote.

Reading this thread reminds me why I don't bother participating in this conversation much. @tshile seems to be representing my general position pretty well himself. I just want to add one point; in the spirit of non-racist "states rights", i support states allocating their votes how they see fit. If the people don't like it, they need to affect that change.

I've stated several times but again for emphasis. I'd support Biden essentially telling Israel to gtfo. Tell Hamas they have 72 hours to unconditionally release all hostages or we're coming to get them. Tell the 26th MEU to get theirs boots on. Very publicly start preparing for the largest land invasion since ****ing D-day. Once they're all released, then we jerk the chain on Israel hard. Tell them they're welcome to go back to hunting Hamas but we'll be watching. Anything even close to war crimes and they lose their iron dome.

After my dad died, his whole side of the family essentially ghosted me for about 20 years. Some started reaching out and a few I've connected with, others can continue to **** off.

I'll hold off on another trauma dump because I get the feeling that isn't always appreciated. I selected miserable because, not surprising, my family is a train wreck and Buzzette is stuck trying to clean up messes as they happen. At least my maternal side has started dropping like flies so I suspect there won't be much to deal with much longer. Bonus, due to a recent suicide, I'm now the oldest known living male in my bloodline. I'm 42. Buzzette's dad side is okay. They're weird but I suspect it's probably like most families. Her mom is a more recent struggle. She was mostly normal earlier in our relationship. In the last decade, she started hanging out with a different crowd and now she is essentially MAGA but doesn't say it. She is everything you think of when you think Southern Maryland. That was manageable but the last 2 years or so, she has prioritized spending time with friends than her kids. So that's fun. Feels like the one 'normal' family I see falls apart too.
