  1. Im not sure I agree with that, its just a financial matter that makes a sale simpler. If he doesnt have the funds to outright buy their shares it complicates any sale of the team. Regardless, it is no more or less difficult to force a sale with him exceeding the debt limit, because that is a matter of simple vote at any point in time. Nothing else matters regarding it, and the surest way to get someone to pay back a loan you just gave them? Force them to sell the asset its tied to. Regardless of whether Snyder stays long term or not, I dont think this has anywhere near the bearing people are thinking, especially if owners havent seen the finished report yet. They are separate votes and separate matters and its highly speculative.
  2. Im hoping this doesnt mean hes going to stay put. It could be just making it easier to consolidate all shares under one person, meaning a sale to Bezos or someone else is now way simpler, and more profitable for Snyder(also meaning more likely as he likes money Ive heard). If he stayed long term, then its so funny to see the NFL and its other owners dash themselves upon the rocks and hurt their own product and reputations in a bid to save some scum they dont even like. Basically its like watching them devour themselves tail first while thinking they are saving themselves, and probably says a lot about just how sleazy they all are to be fearful they would be next and must "protect one of their own".
  3. Trading draft picks for any player except a great player at a big discount is just not worth it for a team this far from a superbowl. Might as well just sign guys in free agency, because then you have the big contract but save the picks.
  4. I like the moves we are making so far but... its really wierd to see people talking about how great we have done. We havent. So far we have signed a journeyman QB, a #3 WR, a replacement for our departing CB who may or may not be as good, and two former Carolina Panthers who are backups at best, while losing 6-7 players. Seems absurd to just assume its going to be great rather than hope itll be adequately improved, but then again Ive seen this fanbase do this every offseason.
  5. The Fitzmagic comes to Washington. I think this should be a fun season. I also think it makes a lot of sense if you have some legit hope for Heineke or Allen. We know full well, while there is some optimism, neither has proved they can be the guy all season. Getting a vet with the ceiling of Fitz for one year lets you push draft capital to next year and allows you to get a year to evaluate the two young QBs and decide if they can be the guy or if you need to spend a lot on a top QB.
  6. I think they likely view it as a great opportunity to protect their product that hes been harming, and to remove someone they almost all hate. It has long been reported that Snyder is universally disliked among ownership. Billionaires will gladly turn on someone for an opportunity, and they are egotistical enough to think it cant happen to them, especially if they just maintain good relations with the other members. They also likely dont view the culture of their own teams as being anywhere close to Synders. There may be a few owners who have concerns because of the way they also run their franchises, but almost all of the rest of them hate the guy and want to see him out.
  7. Thats the #1 sign it wasnt a planned move, but reactionary to an article they just got wind was coming out. Despite the lies otherwise.
  8. Great news, he certainly earned it, and I think this sets the team up well to be in a position they can pursue a good deal on a very good QB, but dont HAVE to get someone if all of the deals turn out to be too expensive. Him and KA can do okay if you bring in more talent around them. If they go out and get a top QB, you cant help but feel good about the backup situation if the #1 goes down to injury.
  9. Thats always been the case with Dan as long as things are going well enough. Its really easy to stay on the sidelines when things are going well, but what about when trouble hits? Then Dan changes his tune and starts to meddle. Take one rough 3 game patch in the next season and Dan will be right back at it. Its easy for Dan to say he wont meddle, but hes shown he does that time and time again but doesnt have the patience and stomach to actually do that. Or not do that.
  10. Exactly what I was thinking, he just "retired" from Amazon to free himself up for time for his other ventures. Now he named a few of the others, but thats because he didnt want to tip his hat as to what is really going to occupy his time.
  11. You know, the more I see whats going on with the QB situation in the league, the more I am convinced that we need to strike and grab a great QB this year and not wait. It would be a huge missed opportunity to just roll with Allen and Heineken. I cant remember a single year in the past 10-20 that saw so many good QBs available. That means supply will be massive, and that means after the first couple of guys there will be deals to be had that are better than we will get a second chance on. Im not saying what we end up with is the best QB in the NFL or even top 5, but I think we can land a top 10 QB much easier this year than in the next 5. You have what is regarded as a good QB draft class with potentially 4 QBs gone in the first 10 picks. You then have another 5 very good QBs available in free agency. Thats 9, and beyond that you can take a chance on the likes of Newton, Garoppolo and Goff. Regardless, we have the opportunity to greatly improve the QB position at a much cheaper cost than ever, and should seize that.
  12. I saw an article today talking about the leak about Kyle Smith being so against the Haskins pick, demanding to know what the pick was going to be and pleading for it not to be him, and I think it dawned on me that thats why hes gone. Snyder is trying to save face by letting other people change the culture out of desperation, but make no mistake we still know how vindictive he is. How do you think he took the news of that report being leaked and how it made him look? And how it made Smith look? Plus, where did that report come from? Certainly not someone that was on Snyder's side. I think its highly likely as Smith saw how good his last 2 drafts were, but the huge blemish of Haskins, and saw the likely sinking ship of the Snyder ownership, he made a decision for his own career, and leaked that story. It makes Smith look good(I think its likely true) and ensures he will probably have a very good job once his contract expires as his last 2 drafts appear to be pretty good. But make no mistake, Snyder probably wanted to fire him the moment that story came out. Instead, replacing him and allowing his contract to expire gets the same job done without the mess, and its the consequences of Smith working to save his own career(and probably a wise decision on his part). I wouldnt be surprised if Rivera had to bend on this one especially since he probably values his own guys as much if not more than Smith anyway.
  13. All we need to finish this out is them to finish the rebrand and announce the team as the Washington Carolina Panthers. I think Im fine with the Mayhew hire, and think he may be a good fit, but with Hurney it doesnt seem like he had a good track record. I kept hearing he was a good leader but just poor with player evaluation so he needed someone to do that, and now it looks like thats exactly what his job is. I havent been the biggest fan of Smith as I thought he was getting too much praise for some mediocre drafts based on "future potential", but I think its a bit odd to see him out the door right after he seems to have figured it out. His last 2 drafts are I think his best.
  14. This year has been great, by "seems to be the trend during this last year" you mean Snyder is forced to do something good for the franchise because of impending bad news for him(good news for us fans) about his sleazy illegal behavior coming to light. In one fell swoop we both get closer to being a better franchise and finally getting rid of the worst owner in sports.
  15. I think his role will really say a lot about the future of this FO. If hes actually come in as a GM, I think its a sign that nepotism will be Rivera's undoing here, and continue the mediocracy hes had all his career. If hes just being brought in for cap stuff and salary negotiations, and they bring in someone actually competent in the more traditional GM like role, then theres a real hope for the future. I certainly understand the desire to hire people you know, but we saw nepotism ruin this franchise for a long time, and so far Rivera's has proven to be just as poor with the offense stacked of "his guys" being horrible. This only reason this team wasnt 3-13 is because Del Rio's defense made amazing strides.
  16. You know, seeing the stats for this past weeks game, Brady vs Brees, is perhaps the best reminder that a top 5 pick QB is overrated. Not that there arent a lot of good ones, but the sheer number of QB busts that early versus other positions, and for whats invested, is massive. The two best QBs in NFL history, statistically, are Brady and Brees. Top 2 in TDs, Yards, Completions, GW Drives, etc etc. Yet both were greatly overlooked because they werent "athletic enough". The Chargers just moved on from Brees from a hurry, and no one wanted Brady. And yet when all is said and done it was their determination that was much more important than their arm strength/speed/combine stuff.
  17. We all know the stat line doesnt do true justice to how well he played, so I thought Id clean it up a little bit. Unfortunately his receivers had a whole bunch of drops, and there were a number of plays he very smartly threw it away. If you take away the throwaways hes probably 26-40 for 306 yards. If you have half decent receivers who have a normal night and dont drop so many balls, you probably end up with about 30-40 for 350. Take into account that his 1 turnover was a random deflection, and it was a fantastic performance.
  18. I think you absolutely sign TH and draft a QB in the 2nd round. I actually feel pretty confident that if he can maintain just half of what hes done in his 2 games this season, an improved OLine and actual WR's will do wonders for our offense. That TB defense is good, he showed he can compete for at least a couple of games, and that gives you time to groom a young draftpick.
  19. You absolutely, 100%, want this guy on your team. This is the most impressed ive ever been by a QB who I had never heard of. I cant count the number of plays he made in that game that just made my jaw drop. It doesnt matter if hes good or durable enough to be your long term starter, hes earned a spot, and what better backup can you possibly think of than a guy who can come in off the street and in 3 weeks match with Tom Brady? Thats the unattainable backup QB dream.
  20. I think it's a 50/50 roll of the dice to play him. And being a 7-9 team those are great odds He reminds me most of Kirk Cousins. In the early years you could clearly see Kirk had a great ability to read defenses and he was an aggressive gunslinger. But he would make a lot of boneheaded plays. So he would look amazing for 9 plays and then have a horrible one. The games where he avoided those he looked amazing. TH seems the same, and the key for Kirk getting to where he did was learning to minimize those. He looks to have a high ceiling where he can carve defenses apart. But there's a reason he's a journeyman QB and it's likely because of lots of boneheaded plays.
  21. He's right though, great to make the playoffs, but unfortunately if Snyder doesnt sell the team it means that after this season the franchise will continue to descend into and live in the abyss owned and run by a man that I wont give any money to. I 100% will not financially support a guy as evil as he is so none of my kids will grow up with gear until/if hes gone no matter how many playoffs he lucks into.
  22. I mean to anyone rational its been clear for sometime that the sexual harrassment in the organization is directly tied to Dan. You dont get that throughout an organization unless its something the owner approves of, and then its 99% certain hes participating in it or the originator. So that article was no surprise, but is the first 100% undeniable link to Snyders behavior. Snyders house is burning down. The smoke is pouring in and the fires getting hotter and hotter, and hes darting from hole to hole in a desperate attempt to survive. But its starting to reach the point where even the rat cant survive, and hes either got to flee or be incinerated in it. It couldnt happen to a nicer guy, just should have happened 10 years ago.
  23. To sum up, Snyder has a 40% stake in the team, while his family have an 18% stake. These 3 guys have a 40% stake combined. Earlier in the year they told him they wanted to sell, and highly suggested he buy out their shares because if he didnt, whoever was buying them would have the rights to look at all of WFI's(Snyders company) books and financial dealings. The suggestion is very obviously that Snyder did some illegal financial stuff(not a shocker). Snyder declined. Now, they lined up a buyer who wants to buy all 40% of their shares. Snyder wants to buy 25% but not the one guys shares because he probably hates him the most and wants to spite him. So they sued to have him either buy all the shares or none of them. If he doesnt do so, they threaten they will finally release the real dirt, which again sounds like its illegal financial activity. The Washington Post is not done trying to bury Snyder, so they had requested the judge unseal the court case documents, and the judge agreed this week while redacting much of it. Snyder has three big problems right now. First, hes done a bunch of wrong, immoral, or illegal stuff. Second, hes treated so many people so badly as to make an enemy out of most people. Third, those closest to him and his dealings, and those in power(such as the WaPo) have finally reached a point of enough is enough and seem bent on taking him down. I hope its as painful for him as hes made being a Redskin fan the past couple of decades.
