My thought is this stuff got leaked NOT because of anything racist, misogynistic or homophobic he wrote. It's about him taking shots at Goodell and some select owners. Then the good ole boy club decided to make an example of him. I wish they'd make an example out of Snyder, but they don't want to set a precedent. Not defending Gruden, although he was just a 48 year old teenager when these emails started ;).

No, Mike Pettine was the Packers DC last year.
-
Does Chase have direct access to Dan's office like RGIII and Portis did?
-
I'd say hands down Manny Ramirez. Great pure hitter but his lapses in the field were legendarily bad. Indians and Redsox fans would say all the time "that's Manny being Manny."

I don't think he's a fit for this defense. Really the only defense he's fit in is NE. He looked slow Monday night against the Packers.

Next Day Thread (Same Day Edition): The Team vs. Chargers

I have a feeling this is going to be another 4 different starting QB kind of season. It worked out with the east being so bad last year but it won't fly this year. Ron and co have to fix QB and LT in the off-season. -

Maybe due to his connection to Wilson, but where would he fit on their 53? Milne's primarily a slot guy and they already have a lot of guys that can do that. The Jets problem, or one of their problems, last year was at outside WR because they didn't re-sign Robby Anderson, Mims got injured early and Perriman was bad. So they went and got Corey Davis this offseason. I'm sure they'd love Milne on their PS.
-
I like AGG and Milne too but I think we're overating their value across the league. I'd bet money both would clear waviers and make it to the PS.

I'm not implying they need to keep a 4th RB. I just think 7 WRs is overkill considering how they use their RBs as receivers. I'd rather them find a veteran TE after final cuts to have 4 TEs. Two rookie TEs behind Thomas isn't ideal and I don't think much of Hemingway or Seals-Jones. Or I'd be cool with keeping an extra OL.
-
As far as Standig and Walker's projections go, if this team is going to throw to RBs a lot and split them out wide, I don't get keeping 7 WRs.

Am I reading too much into the fact they're playing "Hungry like the Wolf" by Duran Duran in the stadium during the commercial break? -
That's definitely a no nonsense approach to the QB competition.

Same with me, I wasn't interested in it at first but now I'm enjoying them. -

I'm the other way, I thought Episode 1 was rushed. And the "what if" was Peggy deciding to watch the experiment from the lab floor instead of going up to the booth? And that lead to the Hydra agent blowing the bomb early and Howard Stark inventing the Ironman, or I guess Ironmonger suit for Steve? Episode 2 & 3 were fun. I bought T'Challa as Starlord convincing a lot of bad people to be good. And explanation of how Yondu picked up young T'Challa instead of young Quill made sense and it was funny. The 3rd Episode I liked that they made the "what if" a twist in the story. -

So you're saying there's a chance we might finally get Mephisto? lol -

They could of taken Sewell in the 1st and then Terrance Marshall Jr in the 2nd and had their LSU to LSU thing. Marshall's not Chase but he's not far off Justin Jefferson who had a great rookie year for the Vikings.

I think a lot of teams are leaning on joint practices to get work in they'd usually want to get in preseason games. Most of the teams at the bottom of that list (like us) aren't doing joint practices.

Not giving up on Davis but JOK looked more the part tonight. Instinctive, explosive and violent.

That's close. August 31st is final the final cut down date this year so players put on IR after 4pm on September 1st are eligible to come off IR later in the season. Players put on IR prior to the 1st are ineligible. In Alex's case he was just pissed they wanted to put him on IR after he'd been cleared by doctors and had no set backs in TC. And if Ron had done it he may never have allowed him to come off IR. Alex would have been out of sight out of mind.

To be fair I think Mayock is mostly told who to take, especially in the 1st rd, and it's up to him to get it done. I'm sure he knew #17 wasn't a good value for Leatherwood but if he couldn't get the right trade down he still had to get who his coaches wanted. That said I've heard Mayock talk about liking Clemson players because Debo has a high graduation rate or something and what does graduation rates have to do with someone being a good NFL player? So I think he's got some old school principles he goes by that are outdated. I mean did they use a top 5 pick on a run stopper DE with not much pass rush upside because of his GPA?

I'm guessing they decided to drop the new name now because we're in that time of the year where sports news is slow. After the MLB All-Star game, after the NBA finals and right before the start of NFL TC. And this year before the opening ceremonies of the Olympics. Dropping it now gives them more eyes and more national talking heads discussing it which means more buzz.

I felt he had a Willy Wonka vibe to him. Which considering he's been alone in a castle for eons it kind of made sense he's a little zanny. Based on the costume he was an Immortus variant of Kang who is older and more reflective. I fully expect the other variants of Kang to be different then this one. It's interesting though that they introduced Kang with the oldest version of him but the setup is probably the smart way to do it.
