  1. Unfortunately, as many on this site have pointed out, the folks currently in charge of making the decision to trade/keep players are disincentivized to cut bait on the season early. I fear they will drag this out as long as possible in an attempt to keep their jobs even though there is a very slim chance of that happening. That will take us past the trade deadline and will mean a lot of players walk rather than us getting draft picks to rebuild with under a new GM.
  2. As frustrating as it is to see this play out in slow motion, I think this is the best path. We also lived through 20+ years of an impulsive owner who made rash decisions. I don't want another one.
  3. Does Hudson really stink? I've been hearing he's done well (honest question) This is too bad to hear but not surprising since Ron seems to be coaching like his job depends on it. In a season where we aren't going anywhere, we should trade as many players for picks that we can. Brissett could net us the most as a QB that recently started in the league. So what if that means we have to rely on Fromm as backup. Seasons already basically over.
  4. Makes me angry thinking about how Ron and our FO basically wasted an entire year. The franchise needs a total reset in the offseason. Clean house.
  5. Is it bad for me to hope that it doesn't happen this year?
  6. I still don't understand how this guy ended up undrafted. Crazy to me. The problem is that Forbes is our first rounder (taken quite high, as well). We can't worry about "breaking him" by putting him on elite WRs. He's going to need to be able to handle that. If not, it means that the FO assessment of him was wildly overinflated. Unfortunately, it's looking like that's the case.
  7. Did he get cut by the Giants? I don't recall hearing his name called during last week's game.
  8. That's kind of what I'm advocating for, yes. This coaching staff are dead men walking. Team seems to have given up. We aren't going to make the playoffs. Purpose of this season is to develop Howell and evaluate everyone else. Figure out who we trade for picks so the next GM can begin the slow, arduous process of building a winner from the ashes of the Snyder Redskins/Commanders. If that means we trade Brissett for a QB-needy team for a few draft picks, bring it on.
  9. I think a better question than who we want as the next coach, is who do we want as the next GM...
  10. And the thing with Collins is that it seems that they figured out how to use him too late. Then his contract expires and we had to let him walk.
  11. Regardless of whether or not we can make it work for the cap, the fact remains that this line has underperformed relative to investment both in terms of contracts and draft capital. With that said and given where we are as a franchise where we will likely have a new FO/HC next year, best to try and trade one/both for max value. We need draft picks, and plenty of them. I agree with the poster who suggested we try and move Sweat. We know what his ceiling likely is. If we keep one, let's keep Chase.
  12. Great post. Agree with your point about the draft value of these guys given where they are in their contract status. I just think we will have to swallow the fact that nothing can happen until after this evaluation season. Then, the priority is a new GM, hopefully a new and much larger scouting staff, and a new coaching staff. The roster is going to likely suck for a year or two. No more of this attitude as though we are only a piece or two away - we aren't. So we may have to come to terms with a rebuild. With all of that in mind, of your list of players whose contracts are expiring, here are the ones I think we need to prioritize re-signing: B - Kendall Fuller* DE - Chase Young* OG - Saadiq Charles* S - Cam Kurl* DE - Casey Toohill S - Jeremy Reeves* (special Teams) DE - Efe Obada LB - Khaleke Hudson WR - Jamison Crowder Not sure how feasible it would be, but at least we keep a nucleus in place with those signings.
  13. As soon as Rogers went down, the first thought that came to my mind was that they need to trade for a QB. And who would be better than Brissett who started all last year?
  14. He's already in a tenuous position with a new owner who is looking very carefully this season to see who (if anyone) he keeps from this regime. If Ron has this team start slow out of the gate again, then we have the expected mediocre season of around 8 wins followed by letting two DEs walk during the offseason, you can bet he's going to be spending 2024 working on his resume.
  15. No brainer - wonder if they'd go for it, though? That, plus our Ron-led FO seems incapable of creative personnel decisions.
  16. Is it a foregone conclusion they'll have to cut one of them? I loved Dee Winters in the run up to the draft. I thought he looked like an athletic freak. We have too many WR already Miami totally makes most sense. Their RB room is a couple of injuries away from them starting some dude off the street.
  17. Agreed. I just was thinking we need a starter-caliber player at the tackle position in a big way. So using a first rounder on that makes sense. Other draft priorities (pending coaching/GM/player turnover in Harris' first offseason) would include LB, TE in addition to the OL. Wouldn't mind a late round developmental QB as well. Isn't Saadiq Charles emerging as LG starter? I thought I had read/heard that from JP Finlay.
  18. It's clear to me that our interior OL has some reason for optimism but short and long term. We need to address tackle in the draft next year. Big time. Should probably be our first round pick depending how the chips fall.
