  1. You have to figure if they had any pride at all that they would come out fighting. Either that or give up and lay down. Glad it’s the former.
  2. Echoing everyone else's wishes of support. This goes beyond football. Condolences to Montez and his family.
  3. Yeah, I don't really remember it happening either, but as high as emotions get during games it's hard to imagine it never happens. That said, it should never happen.
  4. PFF put out a mock draft yesterday that has us picking the first QB off the board at 9. https://www.pff.com/news/draft-2022-nfl-mock-draft-ole-miss-qb-matt-corral-washington-football-team-atlanta-falcons-pittsburgh-qb-kenny-pickett-2021
  5. I've been wondering about this. Is this really a thing that never happens? I mean team maters get into fights every preseason. We read about it every year. Maybe that's an offense vs defense thing though and that makes it different. I've certainly seen players screaming at each other and getting in each other's faces on the sidelines. I've seen players being pulled away from player and players being pulled away from coaches. I tend to think it is a big deal, but I don't know if this is the unicorn some make it out to be. Others may know better. Does this never happen, rarely happen, or is it something that happens, but not during a game, or happens, but usually isn't caught on camera?
  6. Whoa. That's really surprising. Not necessarily that he's gone, but just that he didn't wait to remove things before the season ended. I wonder if some bridges were burnt and that fight was not the beginning, but a sign of something long brewing.
  7. The old logic was that running was better for the o-linemen because it's better to deliver the blow than receive it. I always thought that spoke to player safety as well.
  8. I'd actually put Washington in this category. Hienike for all his many faults and the fact that he probably can't turn into a true franchise QB is demonstrably better than Haskins and a one-legged Alex Smith.
  9. I kind of like that. Hopefully, that means next year it's our turn. That's how rivalries are built.
  10. I dunno. Seems there has been a fair amount of creativity in pressure schemes and positionless players. I remember KDawg and others envisioning Young playing all along the line to take advantage of mismatches. Didn't happen. Though I do remember Del Rio sending Young into coverage. To his credit, Del Rio was willing to employ the Bufallo nickel which salvaged Collins' career. To his discredit, he either can't communicate his ideas leading to massive blown coverages or his lack of creativity makes it really for opposing offenses to exploit our weaknesses. I'd settle for strong tea.
  11. For most of the past 30 years, there's been no discernable difference between WFT and WTF.
  12. I can see both sides of this, I suppose. If Hienike threw the ball a second earlier, the receiver wouldn't be as far down the field and the ball wouldn't come up short. So, it could be an anticipation problem. On the other hand, you may need that extra second for the receiver to break free and come open. Regardless, too many kill shots become contested 50:50 balls with Hienike.
  13. Nah, not a fool. I tuned in, too. Fans are meant to be irrational. I think what happened is the team did the math and stopped believing in the season. Their hearts gave out. But more importantly, they just ran out of bodies. Look at their back seven yesterday... they were missing two starting linebackers, a starting corner, and a "starting" buffalo nickel. We still should have done better, but third stringers and off the street guys on four days rest without even an opportunity to get a practice in are kind of ____________ed.
  14. From a different perspective that we won six games and were serious playoff contenders despite the injuries and playing the whole season with a back up QB is pretty impressive. I think that's one of the reasons that the D frustrates me so much more than the O. The O started the year minus their QB, their top tight end, and the guy that was supposed to be their number two receiver. The D should have been so much better than it was.
  15. If you really want to do it right... Drones are the future. Have the coaches steer the passes in the air towards their intended targets. I think you're right... either that or we're projecting it because we want that to be the case and the gun's just out of bullets. I think it's a bit of both. I think when we lost to Dallas the first time and had the COVID outbreak, the team did the math. I'm not sure that they stopped believing in Hienike as much as they stopped believing in this season.
  16. What gets me is how lost the defense has looked pretty much the whole season. The first eight games they were Haslett bad… maybe worse. i do understand that the defense couldn’t have been good yesterday. We just have too many missing pieces. I don’t know that the had to be that bad. So while I think we should keep Rivera, I also see the rationale for changing coordinators. One… maybe both. There are times I think Scott is okay and just handcuffed by personnel. Del Rio, especially at the start of the year, doesn’t get that same benefit of the doubt. The talent was there (even if it’s missing now) and he mismanaged it horribly.
  17. I still think Hienike has some "it" to him, but his shortcomings are very real, too. I think he's shown that he can be an NFL starter, but not a franchise QB. He's probably a notch below average with his moxie and mobility making up for his arm. Honestly, I don't think he had a chance yesterday. No QB does with that level of "protection."
  18. Objectively, it's tough to judge this team. It's just missing so many pieces. Two of its starting linebackers. Its third (starting) safety. Its starting safety. Logan, McKissic, guards, centers, Young (who was a bum this year, but may have gotten his head turned around), and probably a dozen more. I mean you can't expect to play well against a high powered passing attack with 3/4s of your back seven out, can you? That said, a good coach finds a way not to stink that badly. They rig up some smoke and mirrors instead of going pure vanilla. I mean if we could get two sacks on Dallas' first drive by going with a five man line then that shows it's possible for this D not to look like that. More, the D looked equally clueless at the beginning of the year. For whatever reason, the D just has been lost this year. Was Darby that big a loss? Bostic? Offensively, the line just looked completely overmatched. I would have liked to see at least a roll out, but they tried screens and reverses, and some misdirection to slow down the rush. I also think Hienike, despite that the kid is a fighter, was seeing ghosts. I don't blame him. I don't know that we were outplayed as much as outmanned, but we were outplayed and outcoached, too. The tackle eligible touchdown was a high school homecoming play that you call when the outcome's a given and you just want to reward players for doing the dirty work. The best part of the game? Well, the touchdown drive that featured Dyami's catch and the first defensive series are in the running, but the best part of the game was when I turned my TV off after the first series of the second half.
  19. Diggs dove and grabbed or hit Terry’s foot with his hand. PI all the way. Find a replay at some point and you’ll see. doesn’t make a difference in the game’s outcome, but Diggs decided to tackle the receiver to prevent the TD. 9/10 times that’s PI.
  20. I’m making it to half time then I’m turning the TV off. Might be the best play called today.
  21. Hate that Dallas scored, but I kinda like a tackle getting the TD reception
