  1. Ernie got off to a pretty good start, but his drafting has been pretty bad and his trades were worse. He probably didn't much choice, but to give Arenas a Max deal, but giving Gil a 100 million dollar deal when he had that type of injury and hadn't recovered from it and apparently never did... he never regained his speed or explosiveness was a bad decision. The free agents he brought in to compliment the big three were not good choices. I think it's fair to tip our hats to the Ernies for giving Wiz fans a brighter spot in their history, but in the end, Grunfiel failed for many of the same reasons that Cerrato did. Poor drafting. Poor free agent aquisitions and terrible trades.
  2. I remember a few years back creating a thread comparing Vinny Cerrato to Ernie Grunfield and was told I was a complete idiot and that the NBA and NFL were too different to compare anyway. I think this was around the time they traded the fifth pick. Seems like the sentiment is turning. Today, I'm reading more people coming to the conclusion that Grunfield is like Cerrato in many ways. I think personel decisions are a huge part of where we are today.
  3. So, you'd rather watch the Wiz play games in the 80's/low 90's accidentally? Short term this team could realy use a boot to arse disciplinarian.
  4. Who'd have thought between the Wiz, the Caps, and the "skins that the Redskins would have the most coaching stability?
  5. Could be a sophmore slump aggravated by a short pre-season which is bound to impact a very young team more than a vet team. By the way, on a Redskins note... some were advocating that the Redskins in their rebuild get rid of all their good players and any vet over 30. The Wizards are a prime example of why that is not a good idea. Although I guess if we did we could have walked to Luck...
  6. Don't understand the regression of Crawford. Admittedly, I'm a pretty casual fan, but I kept hearing his name last year and how he was lighting it up. Why is he such a helpless flop of a player this year?
  7. Sympathy Texas is burning My heart goes to its people football is second Life as a Cowboyfan The wind snaps a branch Its green leaves flutter and fall leaving a dry husk
  8. I honestly think they should just have a normal draft based on the inverse record of the teams. No one could tank a season that wasn't played.
  9. Ah... nevermind. Edit: No DC United? And I'm not sure if it's technically DC, but that GMU Final Four run was a great local Cinderella story.
  10. Miracle on Ice probably belongs somewhere in there too. Actually, quite a few nice Olympic stories in my lifetime.
  11. Yes! Heck, 20 year olds are also supposed to be enthused on D-Day and rejoice in our victory in WWII or hundreds of years ago against the Brits. What's a mere 20 years when we ask you to yearly celebrate something that happened more than 200 years ago.
  12. Man, what a selfish player. Vesley keeps stealing all his team mates three point attempts in order to dunk. He thinks all his teammates shots are passes. Geez.
  13. I know we're not supposed to quote pics, but that is one heck of an Ellis Island picture. Doesn't he look like the classic immigrant just beng processed as he enters the country in the 1920's?
  14. So, in the NBA do trades work the same? Every team seems to making their own teams. Does that mean there have been no trades so far or Do the trades get announced later?
  15. I think that if you believe that the NBA lockout will happen and that the 2011 season will be scrapped, then the best thing is to take the best Euro you can. That way your rookie will continue to get seasoning and you still get someone who's high potential.
  16. Booker seems like the kinda guy the Wizards always find and give away for nothing who turns out to be a key component to someone els's championship. The team really needs to start valuing effort, hustle and heart guys who play d.
  17. Why you laughing so hard. It might hurt our cap, but otherwise that sounds like a pretty good deal for us. Mind you, given the cap hit they ought to sweeten the pot with some draft picks too.
  18. Poor Wiz, they want to be Merlin, Gandalf or even Dr. Strange, but in the end they are barely even Neville Longbottom
  19. Sad to be right, but at least if you are going to get hosed on draft order do it in a draft with no picks. Ha! I predicted weeks ago that Cleveland would get number one because of Lebron's loss.
  20. Given that the Wiz can't pick below 7th. I figure they'll pick tenth. Okay, 6th
